Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a lovely place to have our base. John and Hazel made us very welcome to this nice little apartment. Nice decor, comfy furniture. King size beds. A welcome pack of cheese, biscuits, fudge, milk and tea was much appreciated. No parking on site but road parking nearby. And you can walk to numerous eating and drinking places in at most ten minutes anyway. Would happily recommend.

Second visit to Kingston this year I stayed in the apartment this time nothing short of excellent which I expected the apartment is right in the centre of town yet off in its own courtyard very quiet and peaceful, the apartment has everything you could possibly need for self catering, very warm heating, and well appointed kitchen. Hazel and John are very pleasant to deal with and John met me late at night of the ferry no problems and showed me round, Look forward to coming back in January

This is the second time I’ve stayed here with friends. The house is lovely, very comfortable, clean with good-quality fittings and well kitted out. It is in the centre of kirkwall so handy for everything. The owners are a very friendly and helpful young couple.

we stayed here for a weekend for theJunior Intercounty unfortunately for us, we had to get the boat down on the Friday, rather than flying due to the weather, so less shopping time in Orkney the house was ideal for us right in the middle of town and ideal walking location to the Pickaquoy Centre would stay here again - hopefully

We stayed for one week in this well equipped apartment/flat, there is everything you need for 4 or 5 people. However the website says 4+2 and as we are 2 adults and 4 kids we thought it would be perfect but there is a sofa bed in the living room which only sleeps 1 then a put up bed which there isn't really any room for, we had to have it at the end of our bed which took up most of the room meaning me & my husband had to climb over it each time we went to bed and got up. The kitchen only had plates, cups, forks etc for 5 people this should be advertised as for 5 people max! It also had a damp smell but it is an older building so could be down to that. Our friends stayed in the flat above which was much nicer and didn't have the smell. Location is great it's right in the middle of the town of Kirkwall with shops and restaurants on your doorstep.

Best self-catering accommodation we've ever come across. We were a party of 2 couples and 2 singles on a 2 week north of Scotland/Orkney/Shetland distillery & historic sites tour. We'd done a similar west coast tour several years ago and Kingston tops the lot. Better than Bowmore Cottages (Islay) as it caters for more and has a great garden and better than Fort Charlotte (Lerwick) as there are more bathroom facilities. Lots of thought put into the design right down to good quality solid core bedroom doors for added privacy against snoring and things that go bump in the night. - well done! Location couldn't be better and all provided by friendly, helpful hosts. It may cost a bit more but is worth every penny.
