Shoreland ticked all the boxes for us. In particular the warm welcome, a very knowledgeable and friendly host and a superb breakfast! Shoreland is situated perfectly for exploring Orkney as it is close to the town and the sights are generally a short drive away. The scenery from the top of the street is gorgeous. We would return definitely - although we'd probably prefer the king size bed room as we are not used to a standard double, however we booked fairly late and felt lucky to get a room at all. The only issues for us were the television as we like to watch a bit of telly of an evening and the reception and position of the television posed problems. The shower was tricky to get out of for anyone with a disability or with limited mobility. However, that's just us. We were lucky to get a room at all in this high demand B&B and we can see why it gets such a high rating. Highly recommended.

My wife and I just had a wonderful experience at Shorelands B&B. Immaculate room, comfortable beds, hot shower, great Wifi. There is a really nice living room/common area that is extremely pleasant, also. As has been said, it is located in a quiet residential neighborhood that is a short walk from high street and St. Magnus Cathedral. As is so often the case, however, Shorelands is made special its the proprietors, Kirsten and Nicky. Both are so kind and welcoming, you know you have chosen a quality place as soon as you arrive. The breakfast they present is excellent, made to order, and ready for you when you come downstairs at your selected breakfast time. If we return to Kirkwall, there is no doubt whatsoever that we will stay again at Shorelands. It is a cannot go wrong choice!

The location was perfect - a very close walk to Kirkwall's features so you don't have to take the car - the cathedral, palace, restaurants, shops - but in a quiet residential setting off the main streets. Nice view down the hill to the harbor and each day's sunset. And you can park right in front of the house. Centrally located for sight-seeing outside of Kirkwall, as well. There are so many amazing neolithic sites around the mainland of Orkney! And while you should book entry to the main ones, many of them are free and not busy at all. I also liked Nicky, Kirsten and their family. They're very kind and helpful, genuinely nice people. Couldn't be better - it's really a delightful place to stay and I would definitely book here again. Next time, I will leave the car behind and hire Nicky to take us touring around! You can book through a service or his site online - best there to see all he has to offer in the way of touring, packages, pick ups, etc. Great value!

We did the 2 nights with the tour included. It was excellent. It is a great concept and works really well. Nicky collected us from the boat terminal and drove us to the house. By doing this we felt that we knew our “tour guide” a bit before the tour - made for a more relaxed tour on the day. This probably works similarly for him too. Nicky is very knowledgeable and pointed out things of interest on the way. The tour was excellent; Nicky was able to talk about the places he took us through easily, he was a wealth of knowledge. This made the tour so much more interesting and personal for us. The accommodation was great, as were the breakfasts. Nicky was able to help out with suggestions and advice for things to see & do and places to eat. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the package with the tour.

Fantastic B&B, delicious breakfast, perfect location, well appointed and comfortable room/bathroom and the most helpful hosts ever including organising our transfers to and from the ferry. We were also able to still use the B&B facilities after check out as we had a very late ferry booked. Would absolutely recommend.

Stayed at this lovely family run establishment while on vacation in Orkney, June/23. Just a beautiful home with all the modern amenities you could ever need or want in an accommodation, set within the charm of a historic building. The proprietors are very welcoming, professional and quiet! I couldn’t believe that there were 3 children on premises as I never heard a peep. I particularly enjoyed Chief Guest Experience Officer Hattie 🐕 🐶! 😉 My home cooked breakfasts were delicious & as a Pescatarian, I very much appreciated the inclusion of plant based options! I would stay here again 100%, no question. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loved our stay here! The hosts made us feel really welcome and the food was amazing! Can't wait to come back and stay here again. Thanks for making us feel so welcome 😊 It's a really good location with a lot of things to do within walking distance. A great hub for venturing out to different parts of the islands too

Made a reservation several months ago. I just heard from the Owner that they are rearranging their bookings and our reserved room is no longer available. I reserved in advance because these rooms go very quickly. I have been planning our vacation to Orkney for a year. Extremely disappointing.

Stayed here one night while on a solo cycle tour. Nicky is a very welcoming and helpful host who has put a lot of thought into equipping the house and rooms. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Location is quiet and an easy 10 min walk into the town. Warmly recommended.

Una bella sorpresa ————— Nicky runs his B&B with love and care and the results can be seen Our room was comfortable, wide and clean with a big lovely window facing the town and its harbour He waited for us for our late check-in and was keen in offering his advice for the island Breakfast was made by him first hand, according what we decided the night before A lovely surprise
