Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My daughter and I had a wonderful three night stay here. The rooms are immaculate and the breakfasts freshly cooked and delicious. Especially the mushrooms yum yum!!! Fyona made us so welcome and helped us feel right at home. Thanks so much.

First time I have stayed since the new owners took over. I am more than pleased to say that it is as warm and welcoming as it ever was. Breakfast was superb and Fyona is a great hostess. Always a smile and takes the time to have a quick chat. Very handy if working at the Balfour and town center is only a 15 minute walk. The room was comfortable warm and clean. Will be sure to stay there again on my next trip to Orkney.

An absolute gem of a place. A lovely comfortable room, plenty storage, large bathroom & shower, plenty hot water and WiFi. Breakfast, cereal, yogurt and the most substantial cooked breakfast you could ever wish for! As for Fyona the owner, she could not do enough for you, thank you. Fantastic place I can not recommend it highly enough.

We stayed with our best friends, 2 couples: 3 nights on Orkney at Karrawa Guest house 8/30-9/2/23 with a rental car as home base for the Main Island. From arrival to departure just outside of town toward the Churchill barriers, our experience couldn’t have been more positive. Each room has convenient parking, and are very comfortable with a lovely lounge/breakfast room. Fyona and Colin are from the Orkney Islands, who own the Inn, live there with their family and are available for any question/need. The Inn is immaculate. Gave us great recommendations to use our time efficiently, helped with a wonderful dinner reservation and after a perfect make to order breakfast each morning you don’t need lunch! The airport is 10 minutes away, and everything is very accessible on Orkney from here. I am a morning walker, and had great 3-4 mile walks into town and along the port each day. Orkney was the last stop of our 2 week Highland trip, and was the star of the show for many reasons, including the very reasonably priced and great value Karrawa House!

Wonderful guest house. Fyona is super friendly and welcoming. Room was excellent: 3 nights and we were comfy and at home. Breakfast is generous and delicious. If only Karrawa could travel with us! If we come back to Orkney, we'll stay here again.

This is a lovely B&B with a fabulous hostess. Fyona made sure everything was just right for our stay. We stayed in the family room, which was spacious with a very large bathroom. The shower had great water pressure. Breakfast was delicious, and served early enough that we had plenty of time to catch the ferry Monday morning.

A fantastic place to stay, as other reviewers have said the owners are lovely and really couldn’t do anything else 10/10 I stayed in Room 5 for one night while on business and it was spotless, comfy and quiet. I tend to shy away from Guesthouse/BnB but this has changed my views on them. I will be back to visit orkney with my wife and kids and we will use Karrawa. The breakfast was also outstanding fresh, warm and plentiful Also something that might be a minor touch but for someone that doesn’t like tea and coffee they have supplied sachets of Hot chocolate in the room which is a fantastic touch

I stayed for one night in Room 1 on business and would duly endorse previous reviewers. All the facilities anyone needs, spotlessly clean and a short walk from the town centre. Breakfast was lovely, with great porridge, marvellous local coffee and a good selection of fruit too. Fyona is a great host, even providing a phone charger when I discovered I’d left mine at home. Brilliant.

Fyona was very friendly. The whole house is very clean. And the breakfast was delicious! We will come back on our next trip to Orkney. There is a coffee bar in the room and a fridge on the floor with some sweets and water in it. We had a beautiful stay here
