Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lovely little site close to Kirkwall town centre and amenities. The facilities are modern and clean, showers are excellent with lots of space and plenty of hot water. Lounge and large kitchen and laundry area. A very tidy site which I would recommend. Very convenient for the ferries.

Excuse me, but it is a very bad, dirty and ugly campsite without personality. Orkney Caravan Park at The Pickaquoy Centre! The operator is also not interested in satisfied customers!

We have stayed in this site in July in one of the lodges. The lodge was very nice, clean and well equipped. You have to bring your own bedding though. The lodges are close to the toilet/ shower facilities, which was very good. We have arrived late due to the ferry and the checkin instructions sent to us earlier (codes to gate and key safe), therefore it went smoothly. The shower facilities are one of the best in Scotland we have ever stayed. When you go in you have a hospital feeling, but its such a good concept that you have your own toilet/ shower/ washbasin unit to use. They even provide sprays and wipes to wipe down everything before use if required. We hired an electric bike as well for a day and the hiring process was smooth as well. The park is well maintained, however more wardens would be better as we only have seen one per day to do everything, cleaning included. The playpark is not really caters to small kids as there are just climbing frames there. The site is in a good location, close to the shops and things to see.

Fairly good site close to the centre of town in Kirkwall. Everything you need within walking distance. Facilities are clean and site was quiet at night. Wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss, and we were on pitch 2 which is pretty close to the admin office

This is one of the best campsites I have ever stayed on, I have done a lot of camping. The facilities are spotless, there is a kitchen for washing up, with a kettle and microwave (no cooking allowed in the kitchen), a spacious lounge, hot showers and spotless toilets, recycling facilities, and well laid out site. We had a small camper van and a small tent next to it and it was perfect. A 10 min, flat walk into Kirkwall from here and a co-op, tesco and Lidl just down the road.

This is an excellent site to use as a base when visiting the Orkney Islands. Great location near to shops and amenities including free is around the islands and a short bus ride to the inter island airport. Everyone working here was so helpful and nice to us that we felt at home straight away. The main building has a comfortable, heated lounge and well equipped kitchen plus many clean hot showers/toilets. There are three supermarkets on the same road and a swimming pool next door.

Loved my tent/camping stay at this lovely Camping park. The communal facilities comprised of Large kitchen, ample lounge, many private individual shower rooms / toilets, laundry facilities and more. Staff were very friendly and obliging as were fellow residents. The park itself is very clean and well run. It is quite compact (but plenty of room for many vehicles and campers) so you are never far from communal block. I really can't fault anything. A few minor negatives - I arrived on late night ferry. I had difficulty finding the place. I probably didn't read instructions properly so make sure you do. It was pitch black when I arrived so wasn't sure where my pitch was - I think all the camp lights were switched off at that late hour, luckily I had a torch. Communal kitchen is great and had washing up liquid and scourers etc.. however you need you own cutlery, cups, plates etc. Park is well located - a 10 minute walk to town centre, a 5 minute walk to Tesco, Co-op, or LIdl. Great.

We found this small site to be clean and well run. Park wardens are all very helpful and worked very hard to keep the facilities in excellent condition. They were able to help us at short notice when our ferry was cancelled due to unforeseen difficulties. Toilet block also had a laundry and lounge that could be used. Toilets and showers were always clean. Close enough to town to walk to. I would have no hesitation on recommending this site.

Site is located within easy walking distance of Kirkwall town with its museum and cathedral. Also only 5 minutes drive to the ferry for other islands. The showers and wash rooms were the best we found on our trip.

My son and I stayed at the Pickaquoy Campsite one night in August. The facilities are superb, and my son went away and played until the sun set with a Humber of children at the play park and ball court which is attached. A great place to stay, with the added bonus of the Pickaquoy Centre (swimming pool, cinema, gym, etc etc) all connected!
