What a great place to stay and use a base for going round Shetland. 5 mins from town centre by car. We were in Tirrick apartment which was very well appointed, very clean and tidy. Our host Louise was great at pointing out where/how things were/worked. Great for local knowledge, and possible things to do and see? Highly recommend to anyone looking for self catering in Lerwick.
Very well kept and appointed conversion of the old Decca Radar post. An excellent base for Mainland Shetland, within easy reach of Lerwick, and accessible north and south. Plenty of space, and the Shetland winds ensure the on-site turbine keeps going! Local owner met us on arrival and departure, was available and pointed out some good sights / ameneties.
We booked this apartment on our last night in Shetland, if we only knew about these Apartments we would have booked here throughout our stay. The apartment is equiped with everything you need, internet is good and close to city center. You will find all information needed for activites and the like. On top of that They provide for you a racksack you can borrow during your stay with information on hiking routes. Would certainly stay here again
Stayed in Rain Gos for 6 nights and really enjoyed it. The flat was very well equipped, very clean and very comfortable. This flat suited us as it had 2 twin rooms and we were 4 friends travelling together. Would definitely recommend and definitely stay again if on Shetland.
Stayed here for one on business and was very cosy, lovely place finished to a very high standard, very comfy bed and all the mod cons. Would highly recommend. Lovely touch from landlord with a bottle of ale from the local brewery which is just outside and was very nice. Tesco is a 5min drive for all your needs.
We stayed in the Tirrick. A one bedroom apartment in the Decca self catering holiday homes. It is situated about 10 minutes drive from the town centre of Lerwick in the Shetland isles. It is fully equipped apartmentment suitable for long or short stays. It has everything you could need. Including dishwasher and washer/drier. Tv and DVD etc. A nice touch is the walkers pack. A rucksack with flask, map and binoculars etc. A nice view from the windows. The place is quiet and peaceful. If you're going out at night and font want to drive it's about £7 in a taxi. They are reliable also. Speak to The owners Steve and Gillian. They are always willing to advise and help. They have a great knowledge about what's happening in Shetland. I've stayed in The Decca a few times and will do do again. The Decca also has 2&3 bedroom accommodation. David & Margaret Glssgow…
Stayed twice, once with friends as a group of 4 a second time just 2 of us for Up Helly Aa. For the latter booking well ahead is necessary, in our case a year beforehand. We stayed in Perrie Swabbie the first time, 2 bedrooms on the back of the building and the second time Tystie which is upstairs at the front. Both apartments were extremely well fitted out and we felt a lot of thought had been put into providing what a visitor would need. Tystie has sloping ceilings but this was not a problem and having the dining table under the window was a good idea. The kitchens in both apartments were very good and we cooked quite often as the building is a mile or so out of Lerwick. Heating was excellent, a consideration when it is blowing a hooley outside in the winter. The owners are most helpful and we very much appreciated Steve meeting us at Tesco’s with both our luggage and shopping when we arrived. A car is very useful for touring but for Up Helly Aa we managed fine without. There is a walk down into Lerwick and there is a bus service from further down the hill. Would definitely recommend this accommodation as a base for a holiday in Shetland.…
the apartment was modern and very well-equipped with lots of helpful tourist information provided. There was everything I needed. It was also very quiet and I didn't hear any noise from the other apartments. It was close to Lerwick, so handy for the supermarket, and also convenient for exploring the whole of the mainland. Shetland is beautiful and definitely worth visiting.
my title says it all, 10/10 from booking to check out, totally faultless, everything you could ask for was provided, all in mint condition, all working, essentials were there on arrival, along with a few bottles of local beers. parking was easy and plentiful we will be back in 2020
I was working for two days in Shetland and chose the Decca for its flexibility (especially around catering) and location - central on the main island. It was fabulous and I only wish that I'd been staying longer. Beautifully furnished and equipped, lovely and warm (although I was there in June the weather had turned a bit cooler); lovely open views to distant hills and water. It was extremely peaceful and quiet. It was also spotlessly clean and had so many thoughtful little extras - even a small rucksack, stocked with maps of the island, for guests' use. Louise was super-helpful, accommodating my arrival time. All the people I met in Shetland were very welcoming and helpful. I will definitely return for a holiday here some time and I'd love to stay at The Decca. One of the nicest self-catering apartments I've stayed in. Great value.…
