If you're looking for a location quite central to everything, great comfort of rooms and fantastic home made food, please do not hesitate and book your stay here! Hosts Diane and Alan give their everything to make sure that the Alder Lodge is always spotless and food is great. 10/10 and I can't wait to return back here but next time it will be leisure travel and not for work!!

Plenty of social distancing measures in place as well as hand sanitising stations at entrance to the Lodge and the Dining room.

Big thanks again to Diane and Alan for making our stay as nice as it was!

Stayed here as part of a work trip. Alan and Diane have recently started running the lodge and were very accomodating, helpful and provided hearty, home cooked meals and large breakfasts to all of us who were staying.

Rooms are large, with comfortable beds, hanging space, TV, hot powerful shower, tea and coffee making facilities and mini fridge.

We all had access to the lounge in the evening to relax, with plenty of comfortable chairs and a TV, which can be used for streaming and well as normal TV channels. WiFi is also available in this room.

Parking is available outside and free additional parking on nearby streets. The premise itself is within walking distance of the main street.

The building is covid safe, with distancing markers in the communal areas and plenty of hand sanitizer around.

I wouldn't hesitate to come back here for a personal stay when times allow.

I spent three nights here, in one of the top floor rooms with its own bathroom.

The bed was comfortable, the room bright and airy and the bathroom facilities were above adequate. The shower was easy to use with various settings, while the water pressure and temperature was definitely to my satisfaction.

I had a cooked breakfast every day, the ingredients being locally sourced where possible. Also available was a range of cereals and fruit juices as well as toast and jam.

What really makes this place outstanding are the hosts Stuart and Simone, their friendliness and helpfulness went beyond the usual politeness of other locations where I have stayed. When I arrived by taxi from Sumburgh airport the driver didn't seem to be aware of the location of the guest house and pointed me in the wrong direction. I had walked twenty yards down the road when Stuart came and found me. At breakfast Simone always found time between cooking to chat to her guests and give really good information about the whole of the islands.

Next time I'm in Lerwick will I being staying here again? You bet!

Just back from a 3 night stay for work...home away from home.Alan and Diane were just the best! So helpful and nothing was a bother, very friendly but not in your face friendly, just right! Nothing was a bother. So accommodating. The guesthouse is immaculate, beds are so comfy and linen, crisp and new. Best nights sleep I have had in a while! Now the food, well, plenty of it and tasted amazing! I particularly liked the cheese puff starter! Locally sourced meat and produce, good quality and very tasty. Excellent breakfasts also! Also set up for the COVID restrictions, social distancing measures in place and sanitising stations. This is somewhere I would definitely stay again, if ever in Shetland. Please note...Alan and Diane are the owners who had previously let this guesthouse out and have now taken it back over so ignore the other reviews including names of previous hosts as the accommodation and services provided are new and improved.

I recently stayed for 3 nights whilst on the Island due to work. As soon as we walked through the door we received a very warm and friendly welcome. Diane and Alan were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble, you only had to ask. My room had all the amenities that I could ask for. Immaculate and spacious. A very comfortable bed where I had 3 amazing nights sleep. Breakfast each day you have the choice of cereals, juice and or a fully cooked breakfast of your choice. Due to Covid restrictions our evening meals were set each day but what amazing food we were served, all locally sourced and cooked by Alan. I would highly recommend staying at the guesthouse if you are travelling to the Island for work or pleasure, and I will definitely make a return trip with my family when life returns to normal.

I recently stayed here for 3 nights due to a work trip requirement in Lerwick. The Guest House is warm and welcoming, and the current proprietors, Diane and Alan are very accommodating - nothing is too much trouble. The room was very clean, warm and the bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided as well as a flat screen TV, mini fridge and free high speed Wi-Fi is available. Evening meals were delicious, with a starter, main meal and sweet. Breakfast was a choice of full English or healthier options were available. I chose the full English, which was very tasty indeed. I would highly recommend Alder Lodge Guest House whether visiting Lerwick on business or pleasure!

Stayed here for a week whilst working in Shetland, and glad I did! It really does feel like a home from home. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious, and had a small fridge, which was a nice touch. The food was outstanding and all locally sourced, and the hosts couldn’t have been more helpful, organising meals around my busy work work schedule. I highly recommend this place for travellers / tourists and contractors. Really grateful for places like this, it makes such a difference!

I recently stayed at the Alder Lodge hotel while on work secondment. It is a lovely older building with high sealings and big windows but updated thoroughly to incorporate an excellent standard of facilities and decoration. I encourage anyone to look around and enjoy the quirky prints hanging from the walls. Diane and Alan were the perfect hosts. With very generous meals and warm, rich conversation I felt it was definitely a home from home. If you are in a group I would highly recommend a sit in the lounge where we had such a great time and brought me back to my childhood days sitting around a real fire.

Great wee place that I would thoroughly recommend for any kind of stay in Lerwick, whether business or pleasure. Ideal central location with parking out the front.

Hugh breakfasts and tasty home cooked evening meals. Lovely warm hosts who create a really friendly atmosphere. I was part of a large group that stayed here and they catered for each and everyone of us. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
