Family if 4 visiting for first time.
Late booking for just the weekend so limited space on site we were given T17 See picture attached.
This looked like the edge of the site and the site didn't look too big which suited us fine.
Top picture is what the site provide you with and the second is from Google. Nearly the entire site is perminant residents (think travelers that no longer travel). You can tell as the gardens are fenced leaving no access to remove caravans and they have benches ornaments patios etc etc
The site was full with pitches Close together and was not what we hoped for..
However the camping area marked at the top looked great.. it was only for campers and caravans not residents and looked far better!! We only found it as we were walking the dog 🐕 if you are camping her only go to the top camping section do not bother with the lower part.
The pool was small and we never made it in the toilets were small but clean and tidy so no issues.
We had no issues while staying electric worked fine grass all cut, we have stayed at loads of sites but nothing like this. The residents were no issue to us but it didn't feel like a holiday park more like travelers site with a few spare pitches rented out to the public.
I wouldn't go again but if I did it would be to the top camping area which looked great.

Pros: A busy yet well run site. Booking, check-in and vehicle access follows an efficient process.
Although it's got a holiday park feel you get a pretty, green & scenic site with thoughtfully laid out pitches. Willow trees bordering Willow etc.
Warden does enforce a quiet time after 11pm
The shop is absolutely adorable. We didn't visit until we left as we hadn't the time but it was a throwback to my childhood. It's small but manages to stock all the essentials and all the pocket money goodies too.
The Sat night kids entertainment was hilarious after a cider. Fair play to him I thought it was a great act to get the kids and adults moving and laughing.
Cons: the toilets/showers/wash up unit - a few things and none of them are about cleanliness. 1) the walk way is too narrow so you always gotta wait for someone coming the other way 2) sinks and soap too high for kids to use 3) the flush isn't up to the job the cisterns take too long to fill between uses, meaning they are often left unflushed. Ick. 3) it'd be more hygienic to have vanity sinks for teeth brushing/face washing separately to the lips where people need to wash their hands.
The cafe: 7pm close means close. Last order's is a sharp 6.40pm. It'd be nice if they just put a note up to say what food outlets deliver to The Oven as people were left high and dry for dinner after days out which feels a bit off for such a large park.
Overall though we enjoyed our stay and definitely would return. Felt very safe and had the quietest nights camping in 6 years. Warden does a sterling job!

Came for 5 nights, lovely campsite and very large area. The kids bought their bikes which they loved cycling around with other children. The shop was very handy and we used it daily, fairly priced and friendly staff. There is a cafe on site however it is cash only so we didn’t use, that aside just eat delivered to the campsite which was handy when sorting last minute dinners.
Lidl was 2 seconds up there road which was great for buying dinners and breakfast items. The beach was again up the road with the theme park, arcades ect.
A big group of us family and friends shared two plots. Had a lovely time. Big spacious plot with electric hook up. The swimming pool is heated and nice, there is an hours slot but if I’m honest it helped as we could then get the kids out of it.
Wasps were a nuisance but unfortunately it’s summer time and any signs of food ect does attract them, long as you keep the place tidy and clean they go away!
Will definitely be returning!

Having searched for availability but struggled we were delighted to find availability at The Oven.
That’s where the delight ended.
The team on reception were very friendly when we checked in and clearly trying to do their best.
We booked an electric pitch and were allocated the pitch right by the toilets and bins. The pitches are all fenced off and this pitch was noticeably smaller than others. So in addition to the delightful smell and view, there was no way our tent could fit, but apparently that was our fault as we should have specified the size of our tent...nothing on their website advises of this need and despite telling them that we’d never had a problem before, I was told that they’d never had anyone who’s tent couldn’t fit before.
I fully expect them to debate this review as they blamed us for the tent size / small pitch etc., but I am leaving the review as I want people to be aware of the state of the site and the poor customer service before they part with any money. The website presents a very rosy pic.
We had 4 other friends booking for the weekend and the other pitches were equally dire. Whilst we were advised that no-one lived on site it was clear that people did - with full fences, sheds and garden ornaments on display.
We’ve stayed on many campsites over the past 20 years and this was without a doubt the worst.
We left and were offered a refund, but the others who booked were not offered a penny back. There was no point debating, no one was listening...it was all our fault!

+1
Overall we had a good stay. It’s very secure with access barriers in place. There is a duty warden and a ream of security guards. We found all the staff to be very helpful.
It’s quiet at night and we all slept well. The pitches are flat and well kept with clear barriers to separate
the pitches, beware if you have a 6man tent or more as the pitches are tight.
Faculties are clean and in good condition.
A little disappointed with the size of the pool and children’s play park. The pool attentend was having an off day when we visited as the kids were told to stop jumping in the pool or they would be removed!!
On-site shop is well stocked and also very reasonable in price.

The Oven is a lovely site with flat pitches.
The pool sessions are for 1 hour and are £3pp. It's a small pool, very clean. Would be great if the pool was included in the price.
The football pitch it great for the kids.
Tulip and the Oak pitches are quite far from the toilets/showers.
Half hour walk to the stoney beach, one straight road. Great funfair at the beach.
My only downside of the site is the toilets & showers that are closest to the camping pitches. They are quite dated, not enough of them and could be cleaner. Definitely need some tlc and a lick of paint also a bin.
Some of the pitches are by the dog waking area. The dog bins for their poo are directly on the fence on the pitch where the tent is. On a hot weekend like we had the bins were very smelly. We emptied ours as was so full and really did smell. Of course there needs to be dog bins but maybe not so close to the tents. Maybe a few designated areas for the bins would be better.
Other than that, we will definitely be back.

Second time for us staying here, only a few nights but definitely want to come back for longer.
Pitches are spacious and well laid out, we were at the far end of the camping field but still close enough to washblock and bins.
Showers and toilets were regularly checked and cleaned, plenty of hot water, and the boys loved the swimming pool. Campsite staff were always very friendly and helpful.
We walked to the beach, and caught the bus back (there is a stop just for the campsite), plus there are fish and chips and takeaways a short drive away, as well as the onsite cafe. Also a supermarket a few minutes walk along the road.
Thanks for a great stay, looking forward to coming back!

We have just got back from a few days camping at The Oven and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We read some of the reviews about flooding before we left and we were a bit worried. Our worry was unwarranted, and despite the torrential rain we have had recently, the pitches were dry.
The facilities were clean and the site is very well managed. The staff could not be more friendly. Even though it was busy in the height of summer, it was quiet with large pitches and plenty of space. The children loved the pool and there is a cafe and well stocked shop on site. The beach is about a 20 minute walk. We will certainly be returning.

I have camped at the Oven Campsite several times before. My most recent visit was only a week ago and I am returning there this weekend too!
The Oven campsite is one of the best I have camped in. It is set on the beautiful and relaxing Hayling Island which is on the UK south coast near to Portsmouth and is well served by the fast A3 / M3 road.
The site is very well managed but has a deliberate relaxed manner about it as well. It is ideal for adults who want some peace, children who have space to play and allows dogs.
I have used this site several times and it has always been a pleasure to camp there and I come away feeling refreshed and relaxed.
The pitches are double size and well laid out, with a modern shower and toilet block within close reach.
The campsite staff are friendly, have good local knowledge and many have been there some years. Also, there is a 24 hour non-intrusive security presence. A cafe, shop and a swimming pool complete the amenities.
Interestingly, it is said that the campsite got its name of OVEN from being the hottest place on sunny Hayling Island.
I recommend the Oven Campsite to all seasoned campers and also those people who wish to try camping for the first time.
Happy camping.............

This was our first time camping with family and friends.
We were pointed in the direction of our pitch on arrival and we were pleased with the pitch space which had electric for our tent.
I was well impressed with the site layout and impressed with how clean the toilets and showers were.
The water in the facilities was always hot and I never had to queue up for anything.
The only annoying thing we found was the amount of wasps hanging around, but of course this isn't The Oven Campsites fault, just nature at its best..
Will I come back? ABSOLUTELY, we loved it.
