My husband and I have just had a weekend in Ripponden for a family wedding, we booked into this B&B, with no prior knowledge of the place or area, the B&B was without doubt superb, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and the cooked breakfast was lovely, accompanied by tea, fresh coffee, toast and cereals. Many thanks to our host Trevor, and the delightful black Labrador, Dextor. There is absolutely nothing negative to say about the place.

Stayed at 'Over the Bridge' prior to a work meeting and had an excellent experience from booking until i left the beautiful B&B for my work meeting.

Trevor was great and called me after the booking was accepted and offered advice on the best route to get to the B&B, the best parking given the bad weather and also how to locate the property once parked up. Parking is just outside and FREE too which was very handy.

On arrival i received a warm greeting and was told information about the B&B, local area and then shown to my room. It was a beautiful room, very spacious and tastefully decorated with a big comfortable bed. Trevor was keen that i was warm enough as the building is an old one, but it was absolutely fine. A desk for working, big tv and comfortable chairs for relaxing as well as tea and coffee making facilities were all perfect. The bathroom was cooler than the main room but very clean and had a superb view through a small window on to the river. Shower and other facilities were excellent and plenty of toiletries and clean towels supplied.

I asked for advice on where to eat and the Old Bridge Inn some 30 yards away was recommended and my host booked me in for my chosen time whilst he was with me, which was going over and above and very efficient.

The sleep was great, quiet area and the occasional chime of the church bell was the only real sounds. As stated the best was very warm with the good bedding and also mega comfortable.

Breakfast the next day was consistent with the rest of the stay, very very good! Trevor's admission that he found poached eggs the hardest to get right was not backed up as it was one of the best i have had along with the rest of the quality breakfast. This was chosen the night before and bespoke preparation was a lovely touch.

I did have a walk around the area after breakfast, with again some advice from the host. The walks are plentiful and there is some wonderful scenery in this gem of an area. Plenty of shops and pubs locally too depending on what you are looking for from your stay.

All in all pretty faultless and a great experience which prepared me well for my working day in Halifax. Thank you.

Wow !! Where do we start?
We booked the Bridge suite for our wedding weekend.
We were all made to feel really welcome by Trevor our host.
Nothing was too much trouble for him as he helped us relax ready for our big day.
The rooms are absolutely beautiful. Absolutely spotless and full of all the amenities you would ever want including a daily chocolate and a flask of cold fresh water.
The shower was amazing too. Large and very powerful.
What makes this hotel stand out from others I have stayed at is that the hosts make you feel that you are staying as personal guests at their beutiful home rather than visitors to a guest house.
The breakfast here is amazing!!!! Granola honey and yoghurt pot, full of fruit to start.
Followed by proper tasty sausage, bacon and full English compliments.
And don't let Trevor fool you!! His poached eggs are what legends are made of.
I can genuinely say that Trevor, Guy and not forgetting the lovely Dexter along with their amazing guest house played an integral part in making our wedding weekend so special.
So much so we have booked back in to celebrate our 1st Anniversary next year.

Wow what a gem of a find Over the Bridge was!! We stayed for 2 nights for a family wedding at Bowers Mill (less than a 10 minute drive away) and would have loved to stay longer. Very pretty room retaining its old character while having all modern conveniences. The bed was like sleeping snuggled on a warm cloud. Lovely bathroom with a window over the river. Big wardrobe with loads of hangers. Tea, coffee etc all provided, there was even a selection of magazines. Nothing had been overlooked.
Trevor’s breakfast was simply gorgeous!! Everything was cooked fresh as you arrived at the table. My husband had the full English and I had the Yorkshire Tubby, both absolutely delicious!!
Free parking is available at the nearby pub car park just over the road, always a bonus.
The whole stay was perfect, the cherry on top was their gorgeous black Labrador Dexter always happy to show you his favourite toys.
We will definitely stay here with you again Trevor if we are “up North” and please give us a shout if you are “down South” we’d love to meet up for a beverage or two!! (And to share the hair straighteners 😉)

We had a fantastic 2 night stay in this wonderful guesthouse as we were in the area for a wedding. Trevor made us so welcome from the moment we arrived- he even booked us a table in the near by pub for the evening we arrived. Our room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean - plenty of toiletries, tea, coffee etc even chocolate biscuits and chocolates on our pillows every evening too! Such a lovely, thoughtful gesture! Our lovely breakfasts were served in a beautiful dining room. We loved meeting Dexter the Labrador too! We hope to return soon! Thankyou

If you're looking for a place that combines character, charm, and the warmest of welcomes, then stop scrolling because Over the Bridge Bed and Breakfast has nailed it.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by Trevor, the host-extraordinaire, who not only knows how to run a tight ship but also seems to have a lifetime membership to the Dad Jokes - let's pull your leg!

The building itself? A true gem. Spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, and brimming with character. Each little detail has been thought through with love and care that make you feel right at home.

And then, there’s the breakfast. Oh, the cooked breakfast! Calling it “amazing” feels like doing it a disservice. Trevor has clearly mastered the art of morning cuisine. From the perfectly scrambled eggs to the toast that practically sang its way out of the toaster, every bite was delicious. And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, Trevor’s dreadful one-liners kept me laughing (and cringing) through my second cup of coffee.

What really sets Over the Bridge apart, though, is the feeling that you’re not just another guest but a VIP in Trevor’s universe. The level of customer service was top-notch, dare I say, award-winning? It’s the little things that made all the difference: the warm smiles, the extra mile they go to make your stay special.

So, would I cross this bridge again? Absolutely. And I’d bring friends, mainly because Trevor’s sense of humour deserves a wider audience. If you’re searching for a stay that ticks every box and then some, book Over the Bridge. Just make sure you’re ready for breakfast banter and an experience you’ll never forget.

Five stars aren’t enough. Let’s give Trevor six. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We have stayed at many, many b&bs but this is exceptional and highly recommended. Nestled in a beautiful village just outside Halifax, in the charming and beautiful village of Rippendon, is where this gem is tucked away.

The hosts were welcoming from the moment we arrived and genuinely wanted you to enjoy your stay, which they were successful in achieving.

Our room was very spacious and beautifully and tastefully decorated. Clean, neat and smelling of lemon blossom. The bathroom was spacious and even the toilet has a view of the winding river, overlooking an outside decking area to sit right next to the clear water passing by.

Breakfast is served upstairs in beautiful dinning area and it was filling, fresh and delicious. It’s charm isn’t just the building, which is enchanting and attractive but the hosts hospitality & professional, which puts this in the 5 Star category.

Our beautifully furnished, immaculately clean and comfortable Bridge suite was so welcome after a long journey. ..fluffy large towels, luxury toiletries teas, coffee, chocolates plus super comfy bed and linens with huge walk in shower. This little B&B is probably one of the best we have visited here in the UK. The hosts Trevor & Guy are probably the most hospitable people you will ever meet.

Nothing is too hard and will always try to bend over backwards to what you may or may not ask of them. On top of that, have such a jovial GSOH which we loved and have even welcomed them into our own home if they ever pop down South for a visit.

It's like we have known them for years and feel part of the family!

Anyone planning a trip up to Ripponden, there is no where else to stay imho.

Really highly recommended!!

Just got back from two nights at Over the bridge Guest House.

When we first arrived we were warmly greeted by Trevor and of course DEXTER, the lovely lab who kept us company throughout our stay.

Breakfast was brilliant, plenty of choice and must be produce from a local butchers based on the quality.

Bed was comfy, room was warm! What more could you want.

We will have to find a reason to come back and enjoy another night at this B&B.
