Detailed Reviews
We booked Shibden Hall view at Hough House last minute.
I have to say this is an amazing little place
The hosts are extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. They were very attentive to our every need
The rooms have everything you need and are beautifully decorated. The shower is fantastic
The lounge is a great place to relax and there is a small honesty bar where you can have a welcome drink and relax
The location is great for all things local and has pubs and great venues for meals nearby
The breakfast room is a quaint period room and the breakfast was of a very high standard and a great size. I didn’t need to eat the rest of the day. The quality of the products was extremely high
We will absolutely be visiting again soon.
This pace deserves a great review although I’m reluctant as I don’t want to share my secret so that it’s available for me next time I’m there!!!

This is a lovely, well maintained period property. All of the period features are maintained to a very high standard from the stone paved hallway through to the furnishings in the rooms. The en-suite bathroom was contemporary with a period feel. The who place exuded luxury.
The view from the room overlooked Shibden Park and even though the main Halifax to Bradford road was nearby, the double glazed sash windows kept out the noise of the traffic.
The bed was enormous and very comfortable and the room was a nice warm temperature. Included with the standard tea and coffee making facilities was a Massimo coffee machine with a couple of pods included but once these were exhausted there was a £1 charge per additional pod. We considered this a bit short sighted of the hosts as it would be penalising those who stay more than just one night.
Breakfast is pre-ordered the night before and was very well presented with table service throughout. The only criticism is that the tomatoes are roasted and needlessly served on the vine, I considered this to be bordering on pretentiousness. The food was ample and delicious. For evening meal options, there are plenty of restaurants within a short drive.
The communal area had a wood burning stove which gave it a homely atmosphere and the honesty bar was well stocked. We will definitely stay there again.
We definitely recommend this hotel, especially for couples.

From the minute we arrived we were stunned. The location was perfect. The exterior garden and patio were as beautiful as the views of Shibden Hall.
The entrance was gorgeous. Stone floors and stairs. Beautiful fresh decor set off by antique furniture, truly jaw dropping and unexpected. We stayed in room 1 which was amazing. 5*
Gorgeous sleigh bed, comfy mattress, views through a double window from the bed and table of Shibden hall. Hidden away, a coffee machine, kettle and mini fridge, stocked with milk and bottled water 👌
The bathroom was stunning. Rolltop bath, modern shower, heated towel rail and soft clean towels.
We'll be back for sure!

I've been to Halifax a few times and always stayed closer to the centre of town, but this time I wanted to be close to Shibden Hall as that was the main purpose of my visit. I couldn't have picked a better place to stay than Shibden Hall View. From the start Philip and Adele couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They're wonderful hosts and are willing to answer any questions you have about the area.
I was staying in Room 2 which has an amazing view over the Shibden Valley, it's a wonderful to wake up to each morning and see Shibden Hall in the distance. The room itself is beautifully decorated and spacious. There is a mini fridge and coffee maker/kettle for guests to use. The bed is so comfortable, I could have stayed wrapped up in that duvet for hours if I didn't have things to do. The rainforest shower is perfect after a long day exploring Halifax.
Philip makes a wonderful breakfast, so I strongly advise you take the breakfast option. If you're looking for dinner then the Stump Cross Inn is at the bottom of the hill and they have a wide range of food available and the staff are very friendly. Remember though, you'll have to walk back up the hill - by the end of your time in Halifax your legs will feel like steel!
Shibden Hall View is close enough to the main town that you can get there easily but away enough that you can get some real peace and quiet from everything. It's a short walk from the Shibden Estate so if that's the main reason you're there then it's perfectly located. There's also a bus stop at the bottom of the hill that will take you into the town centre or if you've got the time and want to stretch your legs then it's a great walk.
I highly recommend staying at the guesthouse, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again the next time I'm up in Halifax.

We had a wonderful stay at Shibden Hall View - a gem of a B&B with the warmest of welcomes. We were greeted by the fantastic Kim (and Fudge the dog!) and shown to Room 1 which features stunning views across the valley and a gorgeous interior - tastefully decorated, clean and cosy with plenty of extra touches. We loved the lounge area (with the well stocked honesty bar and cosy fireplace) and the breakfast was outstanding. A mile or so from Halifax town centre, the location of Shibden Hall View is perfect for visits to the local area. We wish we could have stayed longer but we will definitely return for a winter break!

A fantastic stay! A warm and friendly greeting from Phil when we arrived. We stayed in room 1 which was wonderful, particularly with the brilliant view of Shibden Park and valley. Both room and bathroom were fantastic, very elegant and well equipped, the shower had great water pressure and immediate hot water (have stayed at other places where one or both were poor). We stayed to visit Shibden hall which is close and easily walkable, as is Halifax if you don't mind walking a little further. Breakfast was great, could tell it was made with good quality ingredients. I'd recommend the poached eggs on toast! Only stayed the 1 night but already looking at staying for more. Can't thank Phil and Adele enough for such a wonderful stay and we can't wait to return.

We booked this wonderful place in the morning and arrived at 3. I cannot praise it enough. Bedroom with a four poster bed, lovely linen, spotless, modern and efficient shower. Candles flickering in the old fire place. Coffee machine and fridge and fresh milk. The hosts were beyond excellent. They booked us a meal at the local pub a 2 minute walk away - delicious home cooked food with an extensive menu (The Stump Mill Inn) and very welcoming. Food was of a high standard and beautifully presented. Home made ginger sponge a delight.
A walk to the wonderful Shibden Hall (20 minutes) then a walk into Halifax (35 minute walk from B and B). Went to The Piece Hall, what a surprise we felt like we were in Milan or Barcelona. Taxi back £4.
Breakfast menu lovely, fresh coffee and eggs Benedict, fresh fruit and artisan bread for toast.
All COVID-19 regulations in hotel adhered to. Highly recommended.

My partner and I stayed at Shibden Hall View at Hough House for a night and it was absolutely stunning. Being an LGBT couple, we're often cautious of where we stay but we couldn't have been more welcomed at this place. Not only are the owners such lovely, friendly people but the accomodation is outstanding. The room was so clean (obviously as we stayed during the pandemic this was great to see) and it was set out perfectly for when we arrived. It felt less like a hotel and more like it was our room because it was so homey.
I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay overnight in the area, especially if you're staying to visit Shibden Hall. The owners gave us great recommendations for things to see and do and they were very knowledgeable about the local area and it's history!
This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway and I couldn't recommend it enough - we will be returning soon for sure!

Myself and my husband stayed here for a weekend in July. Well I’m struggling to know where to start as everything was just so perfect.
We stayed in room 5, which is a little separate place, (even with its own gate and garden!) to the rest of the building. It felt like our own little house for the weekend, and reminded me of the cottage in the film ‘The Holiday’. The rooms were beautifully decorated, with gorgeous quirky little additions, making this place feel like home from home. You get your own garden area with this room which is wonderfully maintained.
These guys have thought of everything. There was all of the usual amenities in our room, and a whole lot more; there were disposable masks incase we needed some, bottled waters, and other bits that we might have needed during our stay, again feeling like home from home.
The main building itself is absolutely beautiful, again like something from a film. The bar is fantastically stocked, with all sorts of unusual drinks that we hadn’t tried before. The honesty bar is a fabulous idea. I should mention that we were greeted by little Fudge in the main building, which was the highlight of my stay :)
And lastly; the breakfast was just perfect.
Myself and my husband chose the full English for both days. It’s not often that we can’t pick a fault with a hotel breakfast, as we are both foodies, but everything on the plate was a delight - perfectly cooked and generous portions, I think if everything else wasn’t so perfect I would have returned just for the breakfast again ;)
Adele and Philip are the friendliest and most welcoming hosts I have ever come across. For all the reasons mentioned above, and too many more to mention, we absolutely cannot wait to stay at this fairy tale place again. We look forward to Philips’ breakfasts and seeing little Fudge again :)
Thanks again you two.

Due to essential travel Halifax was a destination I needed to stay for a short time. I discovered Shibden Hall View and communicated with Phillip who was diligent taking my booking in these covid times.
The room and amenities were first class with offers of additional supplies should we run out. The room was like stepping back in time to the luxury and elegance of years gone by. In the distance we could see Shibden Hall and the beautiful valley as we enjoyed the room and evening meal ( local fish and chips ) outside in the quiet and private garden setting. With many local eateries and pubs unfortunately closed we could only imagine how these too would add to a visit. Highly recommend this space for a nice romantic getaway and chance to experience some of Yorkshires locations.
