Convenient location in the centre of town just a short walk from Halifax train station. The room was excellent value for money. The rooms were warm, spacious, clean and comfortable. And the breakfast was lovely. Slight noise from the road at night as there was no double glazing but only a minor point.

Small family run hotel. Rooms are very clean, English breakfast was very well cooked, good and plentiful. The rooms are above an Italian Restaurant (Romeo & Juliet), but did not try it (The Restaurant name is much easier to spot when walking up the street). You are in central Halifax a 5 minute walk from the Station. I was put...

I stayed at this hotel on week nights for 3 months in 2013, just as it opened its doors. I am female and was living away from my family during the week while I was working in Halifax. Owners, Carlo and Lucia were so welcoming and I felt so well looked after by them. Nothing at all was too much...

I am currently contracting in Halifax. The Shakespeare hotel is only 100m from the office. It was recommended to me by another contractor. Initially, I couldn't find the Shakespeare hotel because it's above the Romeo & Juliet Italian restaurant. When I went in to the restaurant to ask where the hotel was, Carlo, the owner, explained, the hotel and restaurant...

I come up to Halifax on business and having eaten at the excellent Romeo and Juliet restaurant on the same premises as this hotel then I decided to stay. It is exceptional value for money and is so much better than all than any other hotel in Halifax that I have come across. it was refurbished and opened about a...

I was going to write this 13 weeks ago but I decided to hold off until the end of my contract to see if the experience was a one off. It wasn’t. I live in Glasgow and have been working in Halifax 3 days a week for the last 4 months or so. I used the hotels initially at the...

Paid a visit to my home town and found this relatively new hotel by chance and what a nice surprise. Excellent room, clean and well furnished to a standard befitting a much larger establishment. If I visit again I will look to stay here. Great place and the owners and staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble...

I have recently been for a meal at the Romeo & Juliet restaurant, which is the hotel's restaurant, and I found the food to be unbelievable. It was so delicious and I found it to be very reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in Halifax I have been to. We enjoyed it so much I brought my in-law's after telling...

Brilliant stay in this new hotel. The room was spotless clean and the owners really friendly. It was like staying with family. I ate in the downstairs restaurant, the pasta was to die for, bags of flavour. The owner made breakfast the following morning, which topped off a great stay. It's bang in the centre of Halifax, I'll definitely be...

“I think if possible ask for a room not overlooking Horton Street, otherwise you may find it a bit noisy in the morning.”

“Some rooms have baths with showers, others have big shower cabinets. And depending on whether you are a light sleeper or dead to the world, some rooms have windows/walls to the street and some have windows/walls to the back of the building (though no rooms are at street level). Lastly, the weather changes rapidly in Halifax so sometimes I kicked the quilt off at night, other times it was wrapped around me. So ask for a blanket if you need one. The owners are very happy to help.”
