The Imperial Hotel garners accolades for its exceptional service, with staff members who are consistently described as friendly, attentive, and professional. A favorite among guests is the hotel's idyllic location near the beach, which complements its clean and inviting rooms that boast modern amenities and delightful sea views. While the atmosphere and cleanliness receive high marks for their coziness and spotlessness, some guests advise being mindful of potential extra charges. The amenities, including a diverse breakfast and pet-friendly policies, add to the overall value, though a few guests suggest some facilities could use an update.

This was my second stay at this lovely hotel for business in the area. It is a delightful place to stay with its air of grandeur from a former era still resonating whilst being modernised.
The rooms are scrupulously clean with everything being thought of. The bathroom was spotless with a walk in shower and white fluffy towels.
I had a room with a sea view decorated with a lighthouse theme.
The lift is probably listed it is so antiquated but that is a charm in itself.

I particularly wish to mention the food which is outstanding. Seven of us dined in the Terrace in the evening and all our meals were top notch and the serving staff were helpful and friendly.
I had a great night's sleep in a very comfortable bed with quality linen. Breakfast is freshly cooked to order from a menu and the orange juice was freshly squeezed.

There's a few steps into and around the hotel but that is part of its design and management have put chair lifts in where necessary. I am disabled and didn't find it a problem.
I recommend this hotel without hesitation and cannot find one single fault with it.
I hope to return next year.

So wonderful to read such positive, detailed and enthusiastic feedback, especially as you were on business and are disabled. It is so nice to see that despite the difficulties caused for access because of the age of the building you were still able to enjoy every aspect of the hotel. We look forward to welcoming you back next year.

We stayed in a sea view room with balcony. Bed very comfy. Air con ideal as we had great weather. We had our small dog with us and he was very much welcomed although the £15 charge per night for ‘extra cleaning’ was not clearly pointed out from the booking point. There was no extra cleaning needed in our room as our dog is hypoallergenic and does not moult and personally I wouldn’t leave a hotel room in such a state that it would need extra cleaning. If the hotel charges £15 per night then that’s the charge - it should not be put down to the extra cleaning.
However, the restaurant staff were all excellent and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was all delicious, Hotel location great and nice and quiet. Not right on top of the noisy pleasure beach. Parking good.

We chose the 4 star Imperial Hotel due to it's excellent reputation and very good location in Great Yarmouth.

We booked a family room with accommodation for 3 adults and a 5 year old grandson .

The booking by phone was handled extremely well, and was followed up by an e.mail confirmation very promptly.

On arrival,we were greeted by a friendly receptionist, who was extremely helpful.

On entering our family room 105, we were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the room, it's bright decor, lots of natural light, the quality of the comfortable beds, the bed linens, the towels, and the very nice china cups and mugs etc on the tea tray.
We were also impressed by the cleanliness through our our bedroom and bathroom, and actually through out the whole hotel.
Our grandsons roll away bed, was also very comfortable

We all slept extremely well, and were impressed how quiet the room was through out the night.

We enjoyed a very nice 3 course meal, including a little imps menu choice, and we thought the quality of all dishes chosen was very good.

We particularly liked the Duck breast, and the Cromer crab

I was personally surprised by the extensive quality wine list and sensible prices, which were good value including my favourite red wine, the 2016 - Chateau Musar.

We also had breakfast in the Terrace restaurant the following morning, and once again we had excellent service and a variety of breakfast dishes to choose from.
We particularly liked the fruit Sundae, and the poached Haddock.

Overall,we had an excellent stay from start to finish.and we would highly recommend the Imperial Hotel as an excellent professionally run hotel to stay at in Great Yarmouth.
We will be back again next year.
Congratulations to Grant Smith and his excellent, professional, and enthusiastic, smiling team, you are all a credit to your hospitality industry.

From the moment we walked in to the hotel, we were greeted with welcoming, warm and friendly reception staff. We arrived a little early as we wanted to make the most of our family time together, and were welcome to leave our car in the car park ready for check in at 3pm - this was greatly appreciated with small children. Check-in was swift and easy, booking our breakfast slot in the process.

Upon entering our rooms, we were greeted with air con (great for someone who loves a cold bedroom), clean & fresh room with a special addition, a swan on the bed! This really pleased the children - thank you! The beds were exceptionally comfortable, we slept very well. The tea tray was plentiful, great biscuits (border) and kept in the luggage rack, which allowed a clutter free dressing table.

Breakfast was my youngest's favourite part of the stay, he feasted like a king! Breakfast was included in our stay and between we consumed fresh fruit salads, fresh, warm, crispy pastries, full English breakfasts, cereal and toast with a wide range of tiptree jams/honey/marmalades. It was incredible! Again, from the moment we walked into breakfast, all staff greeted us with a 'good morning' and smiles and directed us to our table on the terrace, which was beautiful on a summer's sunny morning. Our waitress was lovely and ensured we were well watered and fed throughout. She asked each of the children what they would like to eat/drink, which is very important as they have their own voice and are more than capable of ordering for themselves (sometimes as parents, we automatically order for our children) but they appreciated the lady's time. She was just fab!

We'll definitely be back, we had a wonderful stay.

We arrived at the Imperial and was greeted by Lesley at reception who was very efficient in checking us in.

We had booked a two night stay in a sea view room with a themed dinner on the Friday night, we also booked a table in the restaurant for the Saturday evening.

Our sea view room was great, lovely comfy bed and pillows, great walk in shower.

Friday evening themed dinner was fantastic along with Chelsea the singer for the evening, singing songs from the sixties, seventies and eighties.

The staff in the dining room were very attentive at all times and the food was of a very high standard.

They have a very comprehensive wine list with wines from all over the world.
Saturday morning we tucked into the Imperial breakfast which is very comprehensive so much to choose from all well presented with nice flavour.

On the Saturday evening we dined in the restaurant, all the staff again very helpful with nothing to much trouble if you wanted to change an item within your meal.

Danny the head waiter went out of his way to make sure everything was to your liking as did Jill who was assisting him.
The food and presentation are to a very high standard and very good value.

On the Sunday morning we tucked into another Imperial breakfast before leaving to go back home.

To summarise our stay at the Imperial was faultless, Grant the manager should be very proud of his team.
Looking forward to going back to the Imperial.

We took our Family to this brilliant hotel for a two night stay. All of our rooms (a combination of family suites and double rooms) were well appointed and prepared to a high standard. The hotel kindly set us up a table for 13 in the dining room for breakfast and evening meals. An excellent menu and superbly prepared meals was enjoyed by all. Of particular note is the friendliness but professionalism of all hotel staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the young children in our group were made most welcome. The hotel has good parking facilities. We will most definitely be going to the Imperial Hotel again.

We hadn’t been for a very long time but upon walking in all was very familiar. Still the same lift by reception, 3 people only and the metal cage door for safety , many a trip spent in there.
We had a dog with us like a lot of guests, which is a big plus nowadays as a lot of people don’t want to leave them behind. Certainly not with the prospect of such great beach walks on the doorstep.
Our room was disappointing. I gather a lot of rooms are quite small, this certainly was. With a dog bed and luggage there was little room to move around and only a very small wardrobe to hang coats etc….it was tight. The bathroom dated and tired but functional . The bed was comfortable and we had a good view so there were plus points.
What really makes the Imperial stand out and has always been a major strong point is the food. They deserve huge credit at maintaining such a consistently good quality of chefs and cooks over the years. From the ‘old’ days of Roger and Billy King all the way through to now, well done . The food really is excellent and worth the disappointing room . We ate in the bar most nights with our dog so as to keep her happy. This area is a bit odd, a strange shape next to the old ballroom and has only a minimum outlook onto the football ground at the back. Functional at best.
The service from most staff was attentive and efficient although we struggled at breakfast to get extra toast on two days despite chasing up. We chose mixed toast , a basket with two halves of a round arrived the first day !!!!!! We asked for more but gave up. The second day we got 2 pieces cut into 4 halves , again we asked for more but are still waiting 😂. Service was slow and probably overwhelmed as everyone seemed to arrive at breakfast at the same time . It did make a refreshing change to be served at the table rather than buffet. I suppose we are now used to helping ourselves and everything being so quick and easy. The quality was good though and a nice touch bringing a sausage out for our dog , she was spoiled. It was good to still see the smoked haddock for breakfast and also that the signature chicken pancake still endures on the dinner menu.
It was good to see it busy and it fits a certain clientele but they won’t be about forever and to keep it going well into the future may require some changes. Being such a classical big old building with lots of original feature must be a hugely expensive and a money pit to maintain let alone modernise.
We will come again, especially if we can sort a bigger room 😊.

Very friendly welcome from the staff, lovely room with air conditioning. Hotel is on the sea front and has free parking. Usually stay in 3* hotels, but this was a 4*, worth paying that bit extra for the full waitress service at breakfast. Everything is brought to your table, no need to wander around making your own tea and toast etc . Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again.

The hotel on first impressions seemed old fashioned. But with vintage comes quality!!!! the room was lovely with its beach wallpaper and modern shower, tea and coffee plus hot choc and biscuits something you don't get so often these days. The best bit was breakfast ..OMG this has to have been the best breakfast I have had in a hotel, so much choice service was impeccable and the quality was 10/10. The cooked breakfast was so good quality sausage and bacon and cooked beautifully. The muesli compete was really nice well presented and tasted wonderful, coffee perfect and Norfolk juices really good . All staff were really polite, helpful and attentive. I can see why this place has had awards and if im working in GY again I would defiantly chose to stay here again.
