Stayed at Furzedown recently. Due to circumstances beyond our control we had to cancel a few rooms and do a shuffle around. Furezdown could not have been more helpful.
Their commitment to service is second to none. Every member of staff from reception, to breakfast staff, to bar staff where lovely and so helpful. Even the breakfast chef came out to check guests where happy!. Breakfast was tasty and plenty of choices.
The rooms where lovely, kept clean, and spacious. Housekeeping do a fabulous job and could not have been more helpful with providing extra tea bags etc.
The location of Furzedown is perfect, a short very beautiful 15 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of the main part of the seafront. Also situated opposite the water ways it was so peaceful and quiet.
I will absolutely be visiting Furzedown hotel on my next visit to Great Yarmouth.

The hotel is set in a less busy part of the town, but close enough to walk anywhere. It is set close to the beach, with the Venetian Gardens opposite.

The owners are really down to earth, friendly couple. Nothing is too much trouble.

The hotel is in fact two homes knocked into one, so it’s symmetrical. The rooms are spread over three floors, with rooms overlooking the sea commanding slightly higher prices. Contact hotel to avoid booking fees.

The ground floor has been recently renovated , with a well stocked bar. The restaurant food is good value for money.

Breakfast is filling and freshly cooked. There is plenty of variety.

The rooms are generally quite large enough, but perhaps looking a little tired. The rooms above and to either side can be heard, especially running water or flushing toilets. The beds were comfortable.

Obviously Covid restrictions are in place at time of visit, so supplies are left outside the room and not cleaned during stay.

The hotel is very good value for money and I would highly recommend it if visiting the town.

Just returned from a couple of nights at Furzedown Hotel and from the warm arrival the new procedures for the Covid crisis were clearly explained and it became clear that everything was being done well to protect the guest.
Our room with a sea view was freshly decorated to a high standard, the bed was very comfortable and the linen, pillows etc were all fresh and good quality.
We ate in Garrards restaurant and the food and service were first rate, an extensive menu with something for all tastes just don’t go without an appetite!
Breakfast is a great start to the day and the ‘Cookie’ breakfast would satisfy the largest appetite with not just a large portion but quality Tasty ingredients, all cooked well.
Great range of Gins served well at reasonable prices, can’t wait to return !!

Stayed at the Furzedown for 3 nights in a very wet mid May 2021. Overall I rate this hotel highly.

The food was good and the waiting staff excellent. Had breakfast every day - good selection, high quality and seemed fresh (hot items were always piping hot). Had dinner once and it was good value (especially the daily roast) and when I wanted something cooked a bit more it wasn't a problem.

The restaurant and especially bar areas are very nicely decorated. And the rooms have recently been redecorated to make them more modern and fresh.

Location is good - about a 10-15 minute walk into the main part of town, but very close to the lovely Waterways and North Dene dunes and beach.

Our room was nice and quiet and that helped sleep. The beds aren't the comfiest in the world though and might be worth investing in mattress toppers to go from a 4 to 5 (Trip advisor) star rating.

We went to the Furzedown for a meal to celebrate a friend’s 60th birthday. It was the first time we had eaten out since before lockdown, to say I was nervous is an understatement. All appropriate measures were in place, one way system, hand gel at entrance to both hotel and restaurant etc. The staff were wearing visors which was reassuring. Lisa, one of the family owners met us in the bar, she saw how nervous I was and kindly took us straight to our table which was in the corner, 2m away from our friends’ table (as we had requested) and well away from other diners. The food was delicious (varied menu available, difficult to decide what to go for!) and all staff were polite, respectful and helpful. I am extremely grateful to them all for making us feel safe on our first outing since March.
Thoroughly recommended!

We have now stayed at the Furzedown Hotel on several occasions and the hotel is absolutely excellent as indeed are the Garrod family who run it, so hard working! super friendly and helpful nothing is ever too much trouble.

The changes and safety measures they have put in place for Covid are so well thought out, clear and easy to understand, the thorough cleaning routine In place was obvious for all to see and we felt completely safe and cared for.
As ever we will definitely be returning
Excellent hotel, lovely comfortable rooms, great food and above all fantastic atmosphere.

Matt and Kellie.

Stayed here for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) and would 100% stay again!
The location is great! Across the road from the beach/waterways, short walk to the pier and attractions yet not on top of the noise or crowds of the main sea front.
The staff are all amazing. Treat you like an individual or part of the family rather than just a paying customer. Nothing is too much for them and they are all so happy to help. Friendly and give great conversation.
The room was lovely. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had everything I needed. Shower was very powerful and the bath was a decent size too.
Breakfast was amazing! So much choice and options on the menu. Didn’t eat evening meals there but after seeing the menu I wish I had.
Couldn’t fault the cleanliness or hygiene of anywhere in the hotel either. Every morning when going to do breakfast there was a ton of cleaners working there way around the hotel. 10/10 and absolutely what we like to see.

Will be back soon for a second stay. Thank you!

We booked this hotel at last minute just before Christmas and were not disappointed.
We had a warm friendly welcome from all staff members and although we arrived late the kitchen still served us a wonderfully cooked meal.
The hotel consists of two merchant houses now as one and the orginal purchaser an elderly lady still lives there and her family now run it. The fixtures and fittings are so nice and the hotel had a wonderful feeling about it.
The evening meal and the breakfast we were served were top quality and plentiful and non-residents are welcome to eat here too or book functions.
The bedroom was homely and the bathroom also had a bath which I always want (so many modern places now just have showers). We had a wonderful nights sleep in the comfy bed.
We will definitly be returning to this lovely place and highly recommend it.

My husband and I booked 2 nights here just so we could get some kind of break in the awful year that is 2020, so glad that we did. We had room 26, a family room on the top floor with a great sea view looking across the waterways and dunes. My favourite part was the window, you could sit in it and look out. The staff are great. The food amazing. Had a full English breakfast both mornings (included in price). Could have had juice, cereal, yoghurts too. It came with plenty of toast. Ate dinner in the restaurant once. Superb. The hotel is doing what it can with Covid 19 measures. Sanitiser upon entry, check in desk and restaurant. One way system etc.
There is a car park but it is VERY tight getting into it and not much room. There’s an extension bit to it but you had to drive over a concrete hump to get to it and our car ground out on it. To park on the road directly outside would be £5 a day (until 6pm I think) so you would need to pay again before 8am next morning. There might be free parking in other roads but I don’t know. It is maybe a 20 min walk to get to the busier part of Yarmouth. Further to the pleasure beach.
Wifi wasn’t great but good enough for checking stuff.
Drove half hour to Horsey Gap to see the seals on the beach. Recommend that!
Would love to stay again.

I stayed here overnight on 6th May. The room was comfortable, it had an over the bath shower with nice complementary toiletries so I was able to have a good shower when I arrived as well as the following morning. I had a nice sea view room and enjoyed tea and coffee there too.
The breakfast the next morning (cooked by Paul) was excellent. I was made to feel special during my stay and knowing that my car was parked safely in the car park behind the hotel added to my comfort.
The hotel is close enough to walk into Great Yarmouth centre or towards the quieter north denes beach and I was able to check in as soon as I arrived so could relax and get into holiday mode straight away.
I felt my stay (a double room with single occupancy) was excellent value for money. I will return.
