The main advantage this hotel has is the central location to all the main shopping streets and that it was also very close to the Pier and the Promenade too. Paul, the Manager was a friendly, down-to-earth man with a sense of humour. I paid £250 for 3 weeks, which says it’s more of a B&B than an actual hotel. It’s a case of “getting what you pay for.” A continental breakfast was provided: tea, toast, coffee, cereal, cold drinks, yoghurts etc., and Freeview TV was available in each room. I enjoyed the holiday but my major bug-bear was the communal aspect, with having to share the toilets and also the showers, which seemed very unhygienic, particularly when Covid was rife and you find yourself having to expose yourself to possible infections spread by spilt urine, as one example. My room was very old-fashioned; the bed squeaked loudly with each movement. There was a sink in the bedroom but it would’ve been better if the building was en suite. Until that happens, I won’t be staying there again! It’s also opposite the local “drug den,” which makes it especially unsafe for anyone with children. I recommend full shopping around BEFORE you commit yourself!…
So.. I don’t even know where to begin to be honest. I’ve just sat and read through all of the reviews from this place after unfortunately having to spend two nights here. First off I just want to say that the replies this awful ‘b&b’ have posted back to some of these reviews are so rude and absolute garbage. It seems that to every comment they say that the rooms are being ‘renovated’ or things are being ‘replaced’ yet everyone seems to of had the same problem dating back from 2010?! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE CLOSED DOWN. The carpets were disgusting, ripped and FILTHY. Yet, the owner is saying they’re due to be replaced this month. Funny that isn’t it. I have a good mind to pop in next month and see if they actually have or if they’re just lying about this as they seemed to have lied to everyone else about all the ‘improvements’ they’re making. There are no sinks in any of the bathrooms I had the misfortune of using. And the one shower was just beyond belief. I can pick up a £3 shower curtain from Asda and pop it on your desk tomorrow, just please for the love of god change it. It’s just ridiculous at this point that you are charging people money to stay here, surely you must walk around this hotel and think what a foul, absolutely rank place. There are so many small things that can be done that are so obviously disgusting and a problem yet you just turn a blind eye to it all and still expect people to pay good money to stay here. I find it so insulting to be honest that you think these standards are acceptable when they really, REALLY aren’t. You would have to really live disgustingly to think this place is clean. I get that you’re cheap, that it’s for people on a budget but this place isn’t even fit for people serving life sentences. It just really isn’t good enough. And the prices I paid to stay in this hideously dirty place were EXTORTIONATE to me. You should of paid ME to stay here. I don’t know if you bribe the inspectors that come here, if there are any at all, but something just isn’t right at all. I was embarrassed leaving this place to go outside in case someone saw I’d stayed there and I’m too mortified to tell anyone where I stayed. I’d be even more embarrassed to work here, in fact I would just simply refuse. In fact I’m ashamed I even had to stay the two nights, safe to say I showered as soon as I got home and washed every item of clothing that came with me. It just all felt filthy even if it didn’t come out of my suitcase.…
I cannnot believe you have this place on your books. The place is appallingly dirty, and stinks, my room came with a can of air freshener. The walls and cupboards were full of Stains or missing parts. My grandson was in the bedroom in bare feet and his feet were Black. I do not call toast and cereal a continental breakfast. There is no sink in the toilets. We took a video of the shower room took about filth. The shower wouldn’t drain the water away, huge hole in the ceiling where a fan should be, damp patches. And as for the shower curtain it was like a deluxe colour chart for shades of brown. And just to put you off your breakfast in the filthy dining room the managers toe nails were like 3” talons and the lady clearing the table had see through leggings on with very poorly fitting knickers. I am ashamed to tell family and friends that I stayed there. The only positive was the clean bed linen.…
I am surprised that Tripadviser is still promoting this hotel. It needs to be inspected ASAP. The first thing that greets you on entering the lobby is the ripped stair carpet and filthy hand rail. In fact the whole place is filthy. The bed linen was spotlessly clean as were the towels. The carpet in our room was so dirty you stuck to it as you walked. The Manager was very nice and accommodating but he obviously never does an inspection. The toilet and shower were beyond words. It is the filthiest place I have ever stayed. Will not be revisiting. Location wise it was great, 5mins from seafront and shops.
From the moment we arrived outside we knew it wasn’t going to be great. The broken bench and dried out flower pots were a good indication. My room was dirty, the bedside table had ring marks from drinks. The walls had brown stains all over them. The only clean thing was the bedsheets. Having a shared toilet with no sink in the bathroom was disgusting!! And the shared shower was even worse. The colour of the shower curtain for starters. God knows how old and how many dirty bodies it’s touched. The floor was always drenched in there and there’s just no room whatsoever to get changed. My sons feet were black from just walking around our bedroom. Breakfast was poor. The fact that everything you touched looked dirty just put you off eating there. I couldn’t wait to get out of the hotel and wash my hands. Everything you touched was either filthy or sticky. And every room seemed to have a different smell. Absolutely awful place!…
We came to Great Yarmouth for a day out but we got here a little late and wanted more from our visit. We found this hotel and booked it straight away as it was so close to all the shops, arcades and sea front. The manager Paul is friendly and very helpful, making you feel welcome on arrival and during your stay. Free residential permit parking right outside the hotel also.
It was filthy, like really filthy. Walls, mirrors, bathrooms, carpets, everything was covered in sticky dust. The breakfast room was disgusting. Fridges coated in food bits, glasses and bowls dirty. However the bedding was clean. That was it though.
The welcome from Paul was very friendly the room is dated but spotlessly clean nice little touch’s like biscuits etc cheap but cheerful did think sharing a loo would be a problem but always very clean hotel was quiet & all staff very friendly the cleaner was lovely & breckfast was very good no fry up but lots of other things on offer felt safe & secure here definitely recommend & will return
Having booked and it being the cheapest by far I didn't expect much. HOWEVER!! On arrival we was met by Paul. Really friendly, showed us around and told us make ourself at home. The room was clean, tidy and furnished to meet our needs. The linens were immaculately clean and fresh. As were the towels (really soft and complimentary toiletries). Had a couple of happy kids at the sight of a well stocked drink station (tea, coffee, hot choc, bottled water, milk and biscuits). Breakfast was included in the price and offered a wide variety of stuff. Including cereals, yogarts, croissants, toast and a range of fresh juices and hot drinks. We were greeted and spoken to on entry each time and during breakfast! We all slept amazingly and altho close to a carpark was no noise at all from outside. Failing all else my son has additional needs and always full of questions, conversation and a lot of energy. Paul and the team were just fantastic. They chatted, listened and couldn't of been more friendly to myself and my children. A massive thank you for a stressfree, enjoyable weekend from a very happy Murfitt family. Xxx…
Unexpectedly needed somewhere to stay overnight, cheaply, and this topped the hit list. Got a late booking discount, too, so single room for one night complete with TV, tea, coffee, etc., was a pleasant surprise for £20. Room was basic but clean and comfortable, facilities are shared and a bit "student hostel", but shower was good and most things worked (I had to fix the TV aerial). Paul is friendly, breakfast is plentiful, so I was very pleased with the place for what I needed. Sea gulls are very noisy, though.
