Just returned home from staying at the Winchester for a short break. First time staying at this hotel but have stayed at quite a few different hotels in Yarmouth over the years. This was by far my favourite and would not hesitate in staying there again. From the moment we arrived, Gregg the owner greeted us and carried all our luggage to our room. The room was spacious, light and airy, clean and had everything you needed for your stay. The meals were top quality, breakfasts were plentiful and very nice, roast dinners for evening meal were also excellent. Very traditional food at its best. The two waitresses were friendly and so efficient - they made it look so easy. Had it down to a fine art. Locked gated car park to the rear was an added bonus. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thank you to Gregg and Sam for making us feel welcome and for the excellent food you served.

We visited Great Yarmouth for the Caister Soul weekend and chose this hotel as it seemed a good all round choice but it exceeded our expectations in many ways. We were met by the owner Gregg who was very friendly and opened the gates at the back to the car park which was a bonus as most of the nearby hotels didn't seem to have much parking. He helped us to our room on the ground floor which was comfortable with the usual facilities although the bathroom was a bit small. The hotel is traditional but immaculate representing the love that the owner clearly has for the place. We were on B&B and Gregg arranged for a late breakfast (there was plenty of choice and was a credit to the definition of a FULL English breakfast)as we were out late at the event and let us have a key to let ourselves in at any time. It is just a short stroll to the big beach and pier and slightly longer to the town centre. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Great Yarmouth.

Thank you for your lovely review. We have a lot of regulars but it is so nice to meet new guests. Hope you had a great time in Jamaica. The last round I played didn't go too well, but I did hit my new driver quite well!!

We checked out and forfeited payed nights. This hotel is clean, but beds do not have duvet covers, so you use the same bedspread as the last guest.... It is also more victorian, not modern. The area seems a bit unsafe. the car park has barbwire around it, and the streets are rolling in trash and litter. We felt unsafe walking a few blocks for dinner. The hotel serves dinner at 5 pm, family style, one menu, but may take requests.
We are heading North to the Broads area, probably a better fit for us as we prefer a more country setting
The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Wow! cannot quite believe this review. We do use duvets and duvet covers in all our rooms and do not posses any bedspreads. We ALWAYS change the bed linen, nobody has ever slept in someone else's bed linen, I can 100% guarantee that. I do not understand your point " It is also more Victorian, not modern." The building was built in 1882 (the Victorian era) and we advertise this fact along with the many original features. There is a section of barbed wire along the wall of the car park. I do not know how long it has been there or the reason for it being put up but it is not obtrusive and no one has ever even commented on it before. Occasionally, the side alley attracts rubbish as the wind does swirl but I have never seen "the streets rolling in trash and litter." We pride ourselves on the food we serve and have been the holder of a AA Dinner award for the past 5 years. You did mention that you booked the accommodation in the States before you left for your first trip to England. You also said that in hindsight you should have booked shorter stays to enable you to do more travelling. As for forfeiting payed nights, Booking.com take our payments and we advised you to contact them about a refund. Had you booked direct we would have only charged you for the nights stayed, as we mentioned to you. We were very disappointed to read your review as at no point did you indicate there was any issues. For future reference, most Proprietors would prefer the opportunity to rectify any issues with the guests prior to departure. Reading a review containing negative comments is not very nice and can also be damaging for the business. It is particularly upsettingg when the comments are inaccurate. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip. We enjoyed your company whilst you were here.

What a fabulous 2 night Easter break. When we arrived Gregg the owner helped us in with our luggage. The room itself was lovely.Clean, spacious and everything you need and more.Hot cross buns in the room as it was Easter.
The location of the hotel is ideal for anywhere you want to go in Great Yarmouth but no noise from our room. The breakfast was delicious and the choice was very good.We didn't have dinner but you could have it if you wanted to.Free parking at the back of the hotel which was gated and locked.
If you want to have a relaxing stay then don't hesitate.Rates are very good.Thank you for a lovely stay. Will definately stay here again when in the area.
