We left the Nethybridge Hotel after one night (which we had booked for 12 nights!) after a terrible experience. We were worried we wouldn't find a good place to stay for our remaining 11 nights and we just couldn't have asked for a more pleasant stay then the one we found at the Grant Arms! Each and every member of the staff who we came in contact with were professional, friendly and went out of their way to make you feel at home. There was a great variety for the evening meal choices and the food was top notch. We enjoyed all of our starters and main courses. Our room was lovely. A very large room with a beautiful 4 poster bed. The bathroom was clean and updated. We had our room tidied up daily (with the exception of the towels as we chose to be environmentally sensitive and only asked for fresh towels once). The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job. My husband and I would highly recommend the Grant Arms.

The hotel dates from Victorian times so public areas are spacious and stairways wide enough to allow social distancing. The lift is good fun if you are old enough to remember how to operate ones of this age.

Our standard bedroom was a wee bit dated but kept scrupulously clean and tidy by staff who in our experience were keen to accommodate anything we asked of them. It was side-facing but you could view the Cairngorm range from the small window which was constantly open due to the warm weather and no a/c.

We thought the food was excellent over the course of the week. Several starters and a range of mains and desserts was always on offer. We are not vegetarian but did enjoy a couple of the vegetarian dishes. Food was well presented with a good range of vegetables on offer too. Coffee and tea were offered in the lounge after dinner. The service at breakfast and dinner was extremely well organised by Pam. There were 2 sittings due to regulations in force at the time. 6.00pm and 7.30pm. The hotel manager David was on hand a couple of times to welcome guests into the dining room and had taken the trouble to find out names and home towns. Nice touch that.

The hotel sits right in the centre of town with easy access to the supermarket shops bars and restaurants.

We were there to try something different and took part in several of the guided activities on offer. I thought the guides Nigel and Sue were excellent and the whole experience made for a stress-free week.

We always book for Dinner, B & B but you can just have B & B. This hotel caters for all tastes, especially those interested in birding with a dedicated team for assistance , you can also bring your dog, or just enjoy all the other facilities. We particularly enjoy the birding side but it doesn't impede on the normal running of the hotel. There were dogs around but didn't affect me/not a dog lover. Always felt we were being looked after. Attention to detail in the restaurant was amazing, with a dedicated table for our complete stay. Food was superb. Housekeeping came immediately after husband had had a nose bleed all over the bed...can't fault anything

Warm and friendly reception staff at arrival, going above and beyond when I enquired about facilities.
Single room was larger than expected, with a bed that looked like a small double. Well appointed bathroom, tub could have been bigger, but did the job.
Evening meal included in the booking was of a high standard, good range of options on the menu catering for different needs. Decent portion sizes, though the cheese board would have benefited from more volume/variety of cheese.
Staff in the evening were friendly and on the ball. Everything was cleaned, showing attention to detail in these difficult times of pandemic. Bar had a couple of decent draft beers, not the cheapest, but after the last year+ of lockdown it's to be expected that costs rise.
Breakfast was also very good, cooked to order quickly with a perfect poached egg. With that egg poaching skill I'm surprised they don't have Eggs Benedict on the breakfast menu.
This was the most expensive room rate in town for my needs, but taking into account everything included and the high quality of service provided, I think it's actually very reasonable.

stayed here for 2 nights last week. very comfortable room and excellent food . We took our young cocker spaniel with us (charge was £10 per night for her ). We had our evening meal in the bar as she was allowed in there . Breakfast was a buffet so we decided it was easier to leave her in the car so we could eat in the dining room . There were also some items available to order from the kitchen...porridge poached egg or kipper .. We were told we could let the dog out in the enclosed hotel garden which was much appreciated. There is free parking in the street in front of the hotel.

Good to see places opening up again after all we've been through. Staff seem to be constantly wiping down with Milton and the layout has been rearranged a bit to cope with the new circumstances. So it feels safe and comfortable and there'l lots to do and see in the local area.

From the brilliant three course meal served every night, to the exciting activities provided every day, a stay at the Grant Arms is well worth the trip. The location is great, with an abundance of activities available via a short journey either by foot or car. The staff, especially the servers and cleaners, are all incredibly friendly and accommodating. A brilliant place to go for a retreat close to nature!

Being bored with not travelling but not wanting to risk getting stuck in quarantine by going abroad, we decided to grab a week at the Grant Arms and enjoy some of the wildlife this part of Scotland has to offer.

We stayed here some years ago and were pleased to see that they had re-opened after lockdown on the 15th of July, so booked to arrive on the 25th, which we thought would give them a while to learn the ropes again.

The hotel is operating under a 1m distancing policy and have reorganised things to give lots of space between tables, a one way system into and out of the restaurant and a keep-left policy on the staircase. The bar is shut, but attentive table service means you can get a drink when needed. Menus are printed daily and recycled after use, which means that there is a completely different choice of dinner every day. As ever, the cooking is brilliant.

All the daily briefing sheets are available if you want to get the best wildlife watching experience, telling you where to go depending on weather, tides etc. If you are going to see the dolphins at Chanonry Point, which takes about an hour by car, be sure to arrive on an incoming tide, as they move in to feed on the salmon. The carpark at the point gets full, so either get there early, or park in the town and walk the length of the golf course.

We were luck to join in a guided walk in the local Anagach Wood, led by Mike Dilger of One Show fame and Simon Pawsey, a local naturalist. Birds are never plentiful in July but learning about some of the plants of the mature Caledonian forest from two experts was fascinating.

In short, it is all still there to see and the Grant Arms makes you very welcome and provides easy access to a huge range of habitats and wildlife.

We have been staying at the Grant Arms for many years now and are never disappointed. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are always clean and comfortable, the food is very good with a varied menu and they cater for vegans or those with food allergies. On this particular occasion they let us stay overnight after the easing of lockdown in Scotland, despite not being formally re-opened until May 1st 2021. This was because they knew we were on our way up to Orkney and needed an overnight stop. Nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated everything they did for us. We were the only guests apart from the staff and yet we were still given a delicious dinner and breakfast. On our return journey we stopped overnight again when the hotel was fully re-opened for more delicious food.
We look forward to staying again later this year.
Thanks to all the staff for their care.

Despite current challenges we had a lovely break from 6th September for a week. All staff wore masks throughout and food was only done on table service. Food choice was good and quality of food excellent. Staff could not have been more helpful and happy to obtain an interesting range of cordials for me as I don't drink alcohol but for those who do there is a good selection of whiskeys. Iolo Williams and Nick Wilcox-Brown were the main leaders along with local guides and the ever excellent Sue Williams. With Covid restrictions we had to take ourselves to the different wildlife watching sites and was a real raptor fest! Leaders helped enormously with helping us see what was around. Would highly recommend this break to anyone who likes the countryside plus watching and/or photographing wildlife.
