The combination of comfortable tastefully decorated rooms and the superb food make this hotel a great spot for a short break in Cairngom. A four course dinner each night with a large choice of wines (and whiskies) and a plentiful freshly cooked breakfast. By chance we had the dining room to ourselves (party of 4) so it was just like... Spent a few nights here on our Scottish honeymoon - a thoroughly charming family home - the hosts were so welcoming and gave us loads of tips of where to go. We had a great time. Sonia is a cracking cook too - they must work unbelievably hard to keep everything clean and tidy, make amazing food and be wonderful... More

Clean and well kept. Comfortable, quiet and peaceful. The food, served after generous G&Ts in the drawing room, is quite outstanding. But breakfast! Whatever you eat, have it with scrambled eggs - incredible, amazing, succulent and fresh. Highly recommended.

Twelve years after my first visit, we had an opportunity to visit Culdearn House again on June 8th, 2016. Still run by Sonia and William Marshall, still a fantastic home away from home. They even recognised me after all this time. I had been bragging to my travel companion about it during our trip, and she says I did not... More

An immaculate hotel, with elegant décor and a warm welcome from the owners, Sonia and William. We enjoyed our third stay at this fabulous hotel in November 2015 and will definitely be returning. Sonia is a fantastic cook and uses locally sourced produce: the breakfasts are delicious and the dinners divine. The choice of wines and whiskies is wide and varied.... More

We revisited Culdearn in January and received the usual warm welcome on a very cold snowy night. Our room was very good and so warm on such a cold day, that we had to turn down the heating as we prefer a cooler bedroom. Dinner was very good as usual, but you need to be hunger as portions are generous,... More

We stayed here for our anniversary in November. Such lovely hosts and probably the best steak meal I've ever had. I'd come here just for the food. We stayed two nights in the balmoral room which by the hosts admission was due for a bathroom upgrade. The breakfast was generous (but quite early!) and by far the highlight for us... More

Culdearn House is extremely clean and impeccably run by mine host, Alistair, who is indeed a Type A personality (ie take your shoes off after going for a walk, or they'll be forcibly removed before entry is allowed). I loved the fact that the carpets were cream coloured and yet spotless, and Alistair was helpful with information about walks, local... More
