My partner & I were touring Scotland and we had arrived at Haus Alba. We were warmly greeted by David and Beate who showed us to our enormous room with super king size bed! David explained all about the facilities, the wifi code and where we could find him if needed. The room was wonderfully clean and every detail was taken care of. We even had a wee dram of whiskey left for us that we could sample at our leisure. David is a connoisseur of Whiskey and will certainly help with advice if whiskey is your poison. Using his local knowledge, he told us of the best places to get a drink and bite to eat. Based in the town centre, there are local supermarkets, restaurants and pubs all within 50 yards of Haus Alba. We can highly recommend the Indian restaurant just over the road - Mention Haus Alba and they offer discounts! Given its location, we didn't here a peep from outside once the door was shut. The whole building is double glazed affording us a peaceful nights sleep feeling refreshed for breakfast in the morning.

Beate's full Scottish breakfast was one of the best we'd had on our tour around Scotland. Filled with all the trimmings and you certainly weren't left wanting more. We'd made our selection the night before on the tick sheet left in our room and left it in reception as instructed. Vegetarian choices were available but I had the taste for Haggis!

We only stayed a brief time at Haus Alba but enjoyed our stay and were made to feel like old friends from the moment we walked in with our cases. We will definitely be stopping again when venturing into Scotland and hope fellow travellers enjoy this gem of a place as we did.

Haus Alba provided everything we needed for our 5 night stay in the Highlands. We stayed in the Thistle room. It was clean and had plenty of space and all the amenities including hair dryer, converters, books, games and information on the local area, free wifi etc. Its located in the heart of Grantown and the room is quiet. There is a bike rental across the street and excellent restaurants and shops nearby. Hosts David and Beate are incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Fresh towels and a dram of whisky appeared in our room everyday. Magic! Breakfast exceeded our expectations with jams and honey from local distilleries and plenty of options for those with restricted diets. David is mountain guide, whisky connoisseur and a historian who is passionate about Scotland. He was hands down the best travel guide we have ever had. We did three tours with David including a hiking tour, whisky tour and battle a ground tour. There is no need to book tours through anyone other than Haus Alba. One stop shop!

My wife and I stayed here for one night after reading all of the great reviews and we weren't disappointed. We had the Thistle Room which was spacious and comfortable with a good sized bathroom that featured a brilliant shower as well as a bathtub. The room was sparkling clean with quite a bit of wardrobe space so it would work well if you were staying for several nights. The B&B is located right in the town centre but it was not noisy. It's within quick walking distance of the local pubs and shops. We received a really warm welcome from the hosts and David knows a lot about the area so is good to chat with about things to see and do. The breakfast was good, with a choice of either a full cooked breakfast, or continental if you want something lighter. Highly recommend this B&B and we'd definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at this little gem 💎 everything was very clean, breakfast was lovely & the hosts were very welcoming, a lovely couple ❤️ Felt like home from home 10/10 from me and my partner. The room had everything you need, tea/coffee making facilities, an iron & ironing board, toiletries & even some whiskey to welcome us. We were told if we needed anything to let then know 👍Would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone up Grantown-On-Spey area and we would definitely visit again

Great stopover in Grantown on Spey at Haus Alba. We were heading north and broke our journey up here. Hosts were both incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and it was really nice to share family experiences with them- felt like we'd known them for years😁 Room was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Breakfasts were spot on and accommodated for my vegetarianism even though I only mentioned it in conversation. They also offer whisky tours and hill walking activities which has made us think about another trip to the area in future. Couldn't have been better.

This was our second visit in as many years and it was just as perfect as was our 1st visit a year ago. Perfect hosts, proper hearty breakfast - including haggis!!!! David is a Whisky ambassador and an expert on the Highlands so this is the only place to stay if you want a full and comprehensive Highland experience and learn all about Scotland's greatest export - Whisky. The accommodation is spotless and Bea ensures the rooms are in tip top condition and offer a warm welcome.....10 out of 10 every time!!!!

Just the perfect B&B which I could highly recommend to everyone! David & Bea are the best hosts, who immediately make you feel welcome and assist you with any inquiries that you may have. The rooms are splended and they even have a small bottle of Whiskey ready for you when you arrive to just relax and begin to enjoy your stay.

David knows the region by heart and can give you great advice on what to visit, where to eat and also organizes whiskey tours (at home or on an ideal location) and guided mountain trails or MTB rides for those interested. Bea prepares the most amazing breakfast (incl. homemade jams which are to die for) tailored to your preference. They genuinely care about their guests and even asked us to text them when we safely returned from our hike in Cairngorms National Park to make sure that we were alright.

Whether you are a couple, or a group of bachelors or a family, I'm convinced that everyone will enjoy their stay at House Alba, as David & Bea will do their utmost best to turn your trip into an unforgettable memory.

I'm already looking forward to visiting them again!

Whiskey and Walking
I stayed Grantown-on-Spey for 2 nights in which I wanted to try 2 distilleries and do some hiking. Dave went over and beyond to assist me in introducing the world of whiskey to me. He is a whiskey Ambassador with a wealth of knowledge of whiskeys and chose a unique distillery to begin my whiskey journey. The next distillery I visited was the Glenfiddich Distillery which I highly recommend for whiskey enthusiasts as well as whiskey virgins! The tour lasts about 4 hours and you see the entire process as well as you receive 5 pairings with canapés and you get to take a home a special gift! It is more expensive than your average 1 hour tour however highly worth it! Dave was patiently waiting for me and I was able to learn more about his Bonnie Scotland and the region we were in. My 2nd day consisted of hiking in the Cairngorns and it was an beautiful experience to learn about the flora and fauna native to Scotland. Dave is an experienced and knowledgeable guide that shared a plethora of knowledge about the foliage and its medicinal use and purposes. He is a guide that cares about his guests and ensures that they are properly equipped and prepared for changing adverse weather conditions. This is my first experience in Scotland and it is truly a unique, magical and unforgettable experience! What more can a Canadian when you have whiskey, walking and great company! Thank you Dave and Beata! I will be back again

Breakfasts were superb, The hostess makes her own jam and we enjoyed porridge with whisky syrup. Assistance in making the best of local facilities was friendly and comprehensive,
Bathroom fittings are modern and high quality, though the en-suite is quite small. Bed was fine. House is close to a main road but this did not bother me. Plenty of places to eat nearby but booking is advisable.

We stayed for one night at Haus Alba, we arrived in the area after a long drive and found we still had two hours to wait until the 1700 check in, a quick phone call and we were allowed to check in early,

The room was very nice and very comfortable, the bed was large and had a memory foam mattress which I found to be uncomfortable as I tend to change position quite a lot during the night.
Haus Alba is situated in the centre of Grantown-on-Spey so pubs and restaurants are within easy reach.
Breakfast was very good and cooked to order they offered a good selection to cater for most tastes, overall we would definitely stay here again.
