Idyllically situated in the ancient market town of Grantham in the south-west corner of Lincolnshire. The Angel and Royal Hotel is an historic hotel in fact it is reputedly the oldest inn in Britain and has hosted seven Kings over the last 800 years. Today the Angel and Royal features an award winning restaurant, cosy firelit nooks and bars and modern conference facilities. Additionally Angel Bar is a great place to enjoy pre-dinner drinks or to meet family or friends. The individually designed rooms feature modern interiors and colours which complement the magnificent original features of the building. They all offer the facilities required for a comfortable stay including en-suite bathrooms - Freeview TV - phone - free wifi internet access. All rooms are no smoking.

Very, very comfortable bed and lovely clean room. Excellent food and drink in the restaurant although it would have been nice to have a truly vegetarian option for breakfast. Great staff - a really positive experience and will definitely stay again next time I'm in Grantham. Got a good price for the room too by going to the hotel's website directly.

Went here for lunch en-route to somewhere and had a nice pleasant lunch served by wonderful and friendly staff. The only thing I recommend is that they advertise their basic lunch options on the website, because on there it looks like the only food on offer is an expensive meal or the bistro. The lunch options are really nice and people may not realise they are an option!

We arranged a retirement function for one of our collegues and the food was great, staff really helpful and lovely, the food was great and a good variety to choose from and everyone was very welcoming, definately recomend. We all had a great evening

Excellent staff excellent food would highly recommend the bistro caunt wait to return, was also very tastefully decorated vesty clean and tidy would recommend for just a drink or food luvely friendly staff .

We came to the Angel & Royal for a family birthday celebration. We were a party of seven. We had a really great evening. The staff were so very welcoming, attentive and helpful. The service was very good and the food was delicious. All of our party thoroughly enjoyed the meal they had chosen. Slightly higher priced than other local eateries but the quality was amazing. We are local to Grantham and can honestly say it is the best food we have had locally in a VERY long time. We will certainly be back, our new favourite place. Next time we will try the cocktail bar too.

Very attentive staff & lovely meal in historic surroundings. The dining room set in one of the oldest parts of the hotel. We were with friends and had food off the lunch menu which came with various options and all was excellent, I had lamb & leek pie which came with 5 vegetables. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Hotel or the area.

First visit for many many years. From the moment we arrived until we left, nothing was too much trouble for the lovely and attentive staff. The setting in the old dining room was exceptional as was the food and service, a truly memorable experience!

We booked online in advance to meet friends for lunch in the Bistro. We had viewed other restaurant options in Grantham but liked the look of the Angel and Royal best. The service was good throughout our visit and the food was good quality and at a reasonable price.

Recently attended as a company for an evening meal- 26 diners. The pre-order system was organised and easy to use, the events co-coordinator Michelle couldn't have been more accommodating. Welcomed on the evening to use the downstairs bar and drinks served quickly by 2 bar staff with a large variety available. We were able to settle our food bill in advance, which was a bonus for large bills on the evening. The food on the evening was delicious, all served hot/fresh and came out quickly to each table so no-one was left waiting. The food was exactly as ordered/described on the menu and the waiting staff were professional and attentive, nice extras such as water on the table etc . Very highly recommend and will be using for company events in the future.
