Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your review. We were horrified to hear of your experience and have now implemented the following measures:- *Smiles will be drawn on to all masks *Rigorous training will be undertaken by all staff in smizing (smiling with your eyes when you cant see someone's mouth because they are wearing a mask!!) *Our tickle stick has been dusted off and will be used on any bored or unhappy looking staff members!!! *Trouser pockets will be sown up !!!! (to ensure no slouching) We are hoping that these measures will prevent this occurrence from happening again? Many thanks for cheering us up in these very depressing time Merry Christmas.

We stayed for two nights 17th 18th October. Grange over sands is a lovely unspoilt town. The centre has everything you would expect in a Cumbrian town without the queues. There are some lovely walks including Hampsfell. and if you stay at Hampsfell house hotel you're already halfway up the hill! The hotel is lovely, the rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable . Breakfast was huge and delicious. and they have veggie options as well. We ate there one of the nights and the food was excellent and well priced. Everyone was helpful and friendly, we wished we could have stayed longer.

Stayed for a few nights with our dog. We were made so welcome. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and a great place to sit with a glass of wine - we were very lucky with the weather! This hotel is very dog friendly which was great as this was our first trip away with our dog Poppy. We ate both evenings in the hotel bar and the food was excellent. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Stopped for lunch on our walk today, beautiful gardens, lovely place to eat and even made something off menu for my son to eat, great coffee and ice cream to! Will 100% be back. We also ordered take away meals over the last 18months, during lock down, they were fantastic! Really beautiful food and incredible value! Thank you!

Stayed for 2 nights Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal 16th & 17th July 2021. What a wee gem of a hotel! Rooms were lovely, staff were very helpful, food delicious and the Gardens were gorgeous with plenty of outside seating to relax in. Will most definitely want to visit again if visiting the area.

My husband and I had a lovely weekend away at this hotel recently. The staff were very friendly and always happy to help. The breakfast was fantastic and very well organised with all the Covid restrictions. The hotel garden is beautiful and it was lovely to sit out in the garden and have afternoon tea. The selection of cakes & sandwiches was brilliant. Would highly recommend!

Need a relaxing break in a small friendly hotel with excellent food then look no further. We returned following a great stay 6 years ago and again the hotel didn't disappoint. Good size comfortable rooms, excellent food, great location on the edge of the town/moors and a friendly relaxing covid safe atmosphere. Well done to all the team.
