Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Terrible night stay!!! I couldn’t sleep due to the smell of the fabric conditioner used on the bed linen and I couldn’t get warm due to the sheets the owners used - they should look into polyester. Host rude and stuck up themselves, when I tried to discuss my issues they were too busy playing games to care. Based on these issues I felt it was only right to under pay.

Such a shame that you never actually stayed at the Grange Boutique and instead feel the need to write unverified comments on a forum that is meant to be for legitimate guests.

Property's Favourite Review
this was our second visit to the Grange Boutique, and it will not be the last! this place is something very special indeed, the luxurious rooms and absolute attention to detail should not be overlooked... we have stayed in both the Butterfly Suite and Lilac Cottage, both are just exquisite, and worth every penny... it is clear that Jackie and the team have worked tirelessly hard to create such a B&B masterpiece, in the tranquil village of Grange over Sands, on the doorstep of the Lakes in North Yorkshire! nothing will ever beat the feeling of a day walking/boating/exploring around Lake Windermere (a short 20 mins drive away), in the warm summer sun, and returning here for your own private spa bath and infrared sauna.. followed by a Michelin star meal in Cartmel (again only 5 mins away!)

Thank you for all your wonderful comments, so happy that you have enjoyed both the Butterfly Suite and the Lilac Cottage :) :) The Infra Red Sauna's are just so relaxing after a long hike!! Now we have just opened the NEW Deluxe Junior Suite with Leopard Print Carpet, and Infra Red Sauna - the Jungle Room, you will have to let us know what you think about that one too. We look forward to meeting you both again, in the meantime, have a lovely Christmas. All Best Wishes, Jackie & Nigel x

A very disappointing stay. Over priced so refused to pay the full amount. Toilet seat was broken, no toilet brush in bathroom, dust overwhelming obviously due to a lack of cleaning. There were stains on the duvet which could have been addressed if a specialist dry cleaner had been sought and dust in the radiator. Unable to sleep due to the overpowering smell of shop bought standard fabric conditioner.

Upon arriving at the grange boutique hotel we were greeted by the very friendly host Jackie at our car, she had informed us that she had upgraded us to a suite. On entering the suite the rooms were a very generous size with a warm and welcoming feel. The kitchen/ lounge area was well equipped and clean, the bedroom area was cosy with a very comfortable bed, and the bathroom is what makes the whole experience! A large walk in shower, a twin sink with large heated mirror and a very special spa bath, all very clean and well kept. Ordering breakfast was simple via text with a variety of options available including items from the local butcher which is a nice touch as Jackie is very keen on promoting local businesses which is always nice to see. The breakfast comes promptly every morning with a smile, and some very helpful information and ideas as to things you can do and explore in the local area. We had a fantastic time staying in Grange over Sands for our honeymoon and would highly recommend the Grange Boutique if you are looking for a special getaway with an amazing experience!

Dirty room, dust in places and poo on the toilet. Hosts arrogant and rude! A very dissatisfying stay and totally unacceptable service. Very uncomfortable bed and the quilt was worn. I can’t understand how they have the cheek to charge that amount. The breakfast was ok but not at the standard you’d expect.

We stayed for one night at the hotel in late September and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We booked two rooms, one of which had an infared sauna and my other half loved that! The bed was so comfy and the suite we booked was clean, well decorated and had everything we could possibly need! Jackie was a very welcoming and accommodating host and while we didn’t need anything during our stay we had no doubt that she would be on hand should we need anything. Nigel’s breakfast in the morning was simply wonderful. My partner claimed his eggs Benedict was the best he’d ever had which is some accolade! If we are ever in the area again we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. 5* all round!

I booked this hotel for my husband’s 40th birthday and upon arrival we were greeting by Jackie who showed us to our room. We were treated to a room upgrade (thanks to a last minute cancellation!) and this room did not disappoint. It had its only kitchen/lounge area, a stunning bedroom with super king bed and an amazing bathroom with walking in shower, his and her sinks and a large jacuzzi bath. The decor and attention to detail was lovely. Breakfast was brought to the room both mornings. There was a good selection and it was delicious. Would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone looking for that little extra treat for something special. Jackie was very helpful even before our arrival sending us places to eat and taxi numbers as we were eating one night at Rogan & Co.
