Worst service ever from deputy manager Jess! My family are staying at this hotel on my recommendation to attend a funeral. Despite being adament I booked breakfast, they are stating not included. Jess was rude, patroning and I’m uncompassionate, she was not willing to help at all. In 20 years if being an honors member this is the worst service I have recieved. Will not be staying with hilton again. Thank you for making what is already a unbearably sad stay even worse! My elderly mum is now even more upset! They even stayed a little further away from the funeral because I pushed for Hilton. Never again will I be recommending.
So having stayed at this hotel twice last year after covid restrictions had lifted, I was super looking forward to my August trip however upon reading reviews on TripAdvisor I was slightly alarmed. I considered changing hotel, cancelling the trip just anything to avoid what sounded like a nitemare. In the end there wasn't much alternative so off we went...Now I no the rooms are not brand new and are not super modern but they are is big, comfortable, spacious and clean. We had a double double bedded room for a family of 3 and there was plenty of space for us all to relax and unpack and unwind. View across the river was outstanding. Breakfast was organised, tasty and plenty of choice. Pool was excellent, a little busy when we first went to go down at 4PM but the lovely guy said he would call us when it got a bit quieter! Bar and restaurant area aswell as reception is absoloutly lovely with the little veranda bit outside to sit and just take In the city views. All the reception staff are so lovely but their was one In particular i want to say the girls name was Claire? But not 100% sure (she was one of the only girls at reception wearing a mask, had blonde ponytail aswell) well she was an absolute delight, so so lovely, friendly, chatty and so super helpful. Newcastle Gateshead we cant wait to come back!!…
A really nice hotel in a lovely position, perfect for walking into Newcastle and experiencing the joys of the quayside. The social areas of the hotel are really lovely and we found the staff really helpful and pleasant. Only thing I would say is the rooms need to be updated and checked a little better. Our room had cracked tiles, shower door wouldn’t close properly and the water didn’t drain - but this was not a major issue for us. I would say the place is in a great position but is still a little over priced for rooms and food/drinks etc. however as I say a lovely hotel and I would stay again.
Jen, Carol and Sam Best breakfast staff you could ever ask for I’m down here once a month for work and they are the friendliest most welcome People who would ever want to meet highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed here for one night as I had some work to do at the Sage and this hotel is only a few minutes walk, so it was perfect for me. When we arrived, the car park - which is a decent size - was almost full as there was an awards ceremony taking place in the banquet hall and it seemed that many attendees had decided to come by car. However, we found a space at the bottom and I imagine that usually finding a space is not tricky. I think this is possibly one of the best hotel car parks I have ever come across. Check-in was quick, although I would argue lacking in any personality or recognition of status (although we had already been upgraded before we arrived) and all the information about the hotel handed to us on an A4 sheet. (The welcome we received the next night at the Hampton by Hilton in Newcastle was more what I had been expecting.) We had been upgraded (due to status) to a King Executive Room Plus, which was a lovely large room with a desk area behind the bed and some super views of Newcastle. The bathroom had a separate shower and bath, but rather bizarrely the shower had a very slippery floor - we both slipped getting in. The bed was very comfortable and the room was lovely and quiet - despite being road facing we heard no noise from inside or outside the room. Ideal. We used the Executive Lounge in the evening, which also had great views and there was a good selection of canapés. There were a couple of bottles of fizz open as well, but we were very disappointed by the selection of beer - why offer two very standard beers (Heineken and Budweiser)? This is 2022, can there not be something a little more exotic - even Newcastle Brown Ale would be a welcome addition to the fridge! We didn’t have a chance to use the pool or the gym, but did have breakfast in the main restaurant downstairs and it was good, but not spectacular. This hotel is a good option and a fantastic location, especially if attending anything at the Sage. We would certainly consider staying here again next time we were in the area.…
I would recommend staying here. Well maintained and excellent facilities. Great views over the Tyne Bridge. Rooms serviced daily. Kirsty on reception very efficient, informative and helpful. Next time in Newcastle l will definitely stay again.
The windows don't open and the sink had a huge crack in it the aircon is noisy and it's a bit dated. They took the payment and also made me out of pocket by £135 by taking an extra pending payment. Its a lot of money to me and really messed up my finances. Will never stay again not worth the £284 for one night plus extra £135 pending. So disappointed
I chose this hotel for its location and was not disappointed. The proximity to everything we had plans for in Newcastle was perfect. The king size bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and had a walk-in shower, the lounging area was nice. Our view included the bridges leading into Quayside and was quite nice.
Hotel in pleasant and quiet location. Room on 5th floor overlooking the river very nice. Staff polite and friendly but not enough of them. Usually only one person on duty at a time in reception, resulting in queues and unanswered telephones. Breakfast buffet, plenty of choice but cooked breakfast usually lukewarm. The best ambassador for the hotel was Sue who cleaned reception in the morning, she always met us with a lovely smile and a cheerful greeting, Sue seemed genuinely interested in our proposed activities for that day
Hotel: We stayed in the room with the balcony which had lovely views. I loved the fact you could check in and check out on the Hilton app without the need of actually going to reception at all. The room itself is very dated so if you're the type who likes something modern this is not it. I honestly felt like I was staying at a double tree by Hilton and wouldn't say the price reflects the rooms. I don't understand why the executive rooms can't be updated at the very least. Food: breakfast was plentiful which was great and service was great too. Again the dining area was very old and dated. Location: excellent only 10 min walk into town. It was raining throughout our stay so we didn't get to go put much. Executive lounge: nibbles was great, they served hot food from 6-8pm and drinks and it was different each night. However in the afternoon when I went to get a cold drink the fridge was locked which was strange as it wasn't locked on our first stay. I called concierge and the man stated he doesn't know why it's locked but it must be locked for a reason and then left as there was no staff so we were stuck having hot drinks (using the hot drinks machine). Parking: is directly under the Hilton and is £14 a day. …
