Travellers' Choice
Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. Fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best pub sunday roast we've ever had! Everything freshly cooked. Fabulous. Make sure you book though as they were having to turn walk ins away. Sadly nowhere to sit outside at the moment as there is building work going on but didn't spoil our visit.

Stayed for 2 nights at The Old Ferry Inn last week with my husband for our anniversary, what an incredible find!! From the moment we walked in, the place just had a lovely feel to it. Such a historic building, full of charm, and the friendliest staff. The room was beautifully presented and the views were stunning, being able to lie in bed watching the boats along the river was wonderful! We spent the evening sat having drinks on the terrace as the sun went down - perfect!

Had a wonderful weekend at the Old Ferry Inn. The room had fantastic views across to Fowey which we loved in the morning, cup of tea in hand watching the ferry and gigs on the river. Treats for my dog, and biscuits for us. Fresh milk for our tea. Warm welcome greeted us and shown to our room. Nothing was too much trouble. Felt like we were staying with friends. Pillows, duvets, linen and towels were lovely and the bed was very cosy. Breakfast was great using quality products and the lady who served was a credit to your team. Hot tub watching the sun go down was the icing on the cake. Had a bottle of bubbly from the tuck shop to enjoy the tub. We will be back. Thankyou for your hospitality

Close enough to Fowey to walk and enjoy the town, yet perfectly far enough away to feel like you’re in a timeless corner of Southern Cornwall. The hotel is a diamond, full of quintessential charm and hospitality. The staff, all born & bred locals to Bodinnick, go above and beyond, and it is clear they sincerely and genuinely care about the village and the place they work! The building is old and querky, but clean, smart, very comfortable & functional. The hot water in the showers in our room was perfect after a long day walking and exploring. We were able to park and unload with ease upon arrival and check in was a breeze. The highlight of our stay was the bar and restaurant - it was so friendly, easy going and welcoming. The bar serves local beers, ale & cider and the wine list was comprehensive. Next door to the main bar was an in-house microbrewery and shop which sold spirits brewed on-site alongside hand crafted souvenirs. Our overriding memory was that we don’t recall seeing anyone look at a mobile phone in the bar during our stay, such was the positive atmosphere in the bar. So refreshing. I highly recommend staying for more than one night in order to kick back and enjoy the change of pace and chat with the staff, who are a compliment to the pub & hotel. The Old Ferry is full of history, warmth and it’s quality shines through. We truly hope we are able to return again soon. Thank you.

stayed over one night and the hotel was very good , the standard of our room was good with plenty of space. staff who we spoke to were very friendly overall excellent service by the team, had an evening meal that was very good and breakfast next morning was spot on. close to Fowey only thing to consider is the ferry time as these change depending on time of year. parking was available. i would recommend. my only criticism is allowing dogs into the dining room, maybe a separate area if you want to take a dog in there. i own two dogs but would never take them where people are eating

Booked for overnight stay after long walk with dog. The lady who ‘welcomed’ us couldn’t really raise one - possibly end of season fatigue??? and then my heart sank as we were taken up the filthy looking carpet and decrepit walls to our creaky old room. After I had dealt with a swarm of huge flies I opened the old mouldy window onto the road, but my heart then lifted at the sight of lovely crisp clean sheets, with complimentary pillow spray and dog bed. The shower was good and everything was fine there. As soon as possible we went to sit on the deck with a drink. The special stunning view was rather spoilt by wiffs of chemical septic tank and the shabby unattractive unkempt look of the seating and general area of the lower decks. The food at supper was totally reasonable - the portions were huge (between us we tried mussels, sausages and the special of ribs and wings) In conclusion this place could be stunning if it had a major investment and refurbishment. / or even some basic TLC . It is very shabby, old fashioned and a bit smelly to be honest. The location is very special and to end on a positive note the breakfast was excellent and the waitresses were lovely. But thank goodness it was a special offer and only one night.

Went for food on the bank holiday Monday, the staff were lovely and couldn't be more friendly and accomodating. We had the chicken curry and ham egg and chips, it was delicious. The chicken curry was one of the best i've ever tasted! The views are also incredible.

Gutted we never got to spend more time here the views over the river are incredible. We missed out on our check in dinner and the hot tub but breakfast was delicious and the bed sheets were so soft. All the staff were polite and helpful. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Lovely relaxed friendly pub where children and dogs are very welcome and feel at home. Rooms well equipped, spacious and the junior suite had a fantastic view and an excellent sized bathroom with separate shower and bath. Highlights were the exceptionally friendly accommodating staff where nothing is too much trouble, hot tub on a top terrace with wonderful views across to Fowey and estuary, easy access to a lovely coastal walk and option of having food served in your preferred resident areas. Really recommend this for family trips.
