We recently spent a few days in the Fermanagh area and had occasion to stay in Leander Lodge. We stayed three nights initially and then did some touring in Donegal and returned to stay for the last night before we returned to mainland UK.

Firstly, the location of the B & B is in an outstanding area. Right outside the front door is Killyfole lake with a well kept walkway all round the lake which is brilliant for walkers and lovers of wildlife. There were two black swans, geese, various kinds of ducks together with coots and moorhens. A walk around the lake takes approximately 30 minutes depending on level of fitness.

The welcome from Jim, the proprietor, was second to none. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Great breakfast with various juices, fruit, cereals and you could choose the ingredients of your cooked breakfast the night before. There is a lounge in which you can relax in the evening. Jim is a mine of information regarding what to do and see in the area and is very helpful. One of the rooms is ideal for a disabled person.

There is a friendly dog, Chuckles, at the property as well as a few hens to provide fresh eggs. I would recommend Leander Lodge for your stay in this area without reservation.

Myself and my partner stayed at this amazing place while we attended a wedding. First of all the location is insanely beautiful, literally 5 steps away from a great walk arou d an amazing lake. We arrived and were greeted by Flo who I have got to say is one of the nicest people we have ever had the chance of meeting. She made us tea and showed us our room with a view of the lake. Incredible, we sat with Flo and got to know her a little as we talked stories back and forth. She made us feel like family in a matter of minutes. Nothing would seem a problem for Flo. The room was clean and comfy. On the night of the wedding Flo sorted us with a taxi there and back and even stayed up to make sure we got in OK with fresh water from the fridge. I've been all over the world on trips and can say hand on heart this place excels over anywhere I've been both in hospitality and relaxation value. We will definitely be back. Can't wait! Cannot recommend this gem enough.

I stayed a night while in the area for business. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water and good pressure in the shower. Florence made me welcome and cooked me a great breakfast that kept me going for the rest of the day! Free fast WiFi was a bonus.

the title does not lie.
disrespectful, insulting, downgrading staff who hissed and snarled at me when i (an elderly gentleman just after a hip replacement and using crutches) asked for assistance with my bag.
the bed is hard as a rock, would have been better off sleeping on the road.

i sought advice from staff on local activities to try, i was horrified when i was told to tie weights to my feet and jump into killyfole.

if you enjoy being in the company of racists then i implore you to stay here. otherwise STAY AWAY.

room was very clean

As we have not been open for business since before the Pandemic you, or anyone else have not stayed at Leander Lodge B&B during that time. I would now advise you to withdraw your comment immediately. As your statement amounts to Defamation I will pursue legal action against you if you do not withdraw your statement and apologise forthwith.

I was meeting some acquaintances at Lanesborough Lodge and wanted accommodation in County Fermanagh within the vicinity. Leander Lodge sounded just the ticket, so I had a good look at their informative website and called them.

Jim, the owner, told me that there was a room available.

I arrived about 4pm and the first thing that Jim did was to offer me a welcoming cup of tea and biscuits. We chatted in the residents' lounge for awhile, before I took my belongings to my room upstairs.

This bedroom overlooks the front garden, which has a a hen coup at the far end. No points for guessing where the fresh eggs come from at breakfast!

My bedroom was spacious and had everything I needed. Wi-fi is free (BT) and available throughout Leander Lodge, including the bedrooms.

My bed was very comfortable and warm. There is abundant hot water; indeed the roof of the Lodge has solar panels.

Jim and Isobel were having a party of friends for a barbecue that evening, so they very generously invited me along. The show kicked off at about 8.30 and tasty burgers, sausages, onions, salad, relish, ketchup and soft drinks were plentiful.

I have to say I appreciated this generosity greatly.

The veranda and decking at Leander Lodge is directly beside the tranquil and picturesque Killyfole Lough, which has a well-trodden footpath round its perimeter.

There are two resident black swans.

There are breakfast cards in the hall for guests to fill in, ticking the items they'd prefer for breakfast the next morning.

I breakfasted at 8.30 and this was no run-of-the-mill breakfast: Freshly-laid eggs, two fine chipolata sausages, back bacon, tomato, mushrooms, potato farl, Nutty Krust plain loaf toast (this is an Ulster speciality and very popular in the Province - try it!).

Also at the side-table were various cereals, including organic maple corn-flakes, which I liked.

Jim brought me a proper pot of tea and I had orange-juice.

He has an interesting collection of naval hats, including two from HMS Leander and HMS Belfast; and two fire brigade helmets.

Suitably fortified for the day ahead, I packed forthwith, settled up and bade Jim farewell.

For a wonderful discovery. Many thanks, once again, Jim and Isobel; hoping to revisit Leander some time in the future.

James, the owner, is extremely friendly and really helpful. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and plenty of it. The rooms are lovely with amazing beds. The lake side location is with wonderful views. The path around the lake is about 1.5 miles and easy to walk. We enjoyed our stay at Leander Lodge very much!

Words fail me but I will try. Jim and Leander Lodge B&B are a must stop for anyone travelling Ireland or just looking for a night stop over on your travels. It is perfectly situated in the countryside on Lough Killyfole with short hops to various villages and towns. Jim is probably the most hospitable person I have met in all my travels (and I have travelled half the world!!)

The birdlife and walk around the lough is amazing. Sitting out in the evening and watching the fish rise while the sun sets is an experience you will not forget. Then there is taking Chuckles the resident dog and greeter for a brisk early morning walk around the lough to build up an appetite for Jims famous breakfast if you are of a mind for that.

We then get on to the local population. You couldn't meet friendlier people. Highly recommended is Corranny Pub up the hill about 3 miles away with Liam and Angela to look after you. Now to get there you would need the services of a taxi if you are planning on a few pints. Roslea Taxis (028 6775 1245) owned and run by Mary and Gerry Connolly are top notch. Very friendly, willing to help you in anyway they can. I have never had a better service from any other company.

Last but not least is the legend of Fermanagh, Florence Creighton. This lady will amaze you with her stories of travelling the world and raising money for charity. She is also a font of knowledge about local history and Ireland in general.

To sum it up, Leander Lodge, Jim & Chuckles deserve more than 5 stars.

Fantastic place to stay, Jim is a star with all his projects going on, yet finding time for a chat. A walk around the lake is lovely and sitting out in the evenings watching the swallows. Just a great quiet spot in the heart of Co Fermanagh.
Hope to see you again soon Jim.
