Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This has been our second stay at this quaint pub. Barry is a wonderful host. We love the bar food that is on offer. We’ll be back in the summer. If you are looking for a welcoming place off the beaten track- this place is for you. Rooms are cosy and clean, it’s easy to mix with the locals.

Excellent room in a cosy pub - extremely friendly owner who cooked a great full English for us the next morning. We asked for early check in and Barry was only too happy to oblige. Could not fault the hotel - very clean and well appointed room. Would definitely return!

We stayed at this lovely public house for one night following a family trip. On a very cold blustery evening we received the most warmest of welcomes from the owner Barry. We were shown to our room which was a very large en-suite room which could have accommodated a family as there were two sleeping areas, one with a very comfortable double and the other had two single beds, tea and coffee facilities were provided along with bottled water. We went to the bar where we received a very Friendly welcome by some of the village locals and ordered food and drinks, sitting in front of the open fire was very pleasant. The food was lovely ( home made pie made by Barry and scampi). Had a very comfortable nights sleep and the full English breakfast the next morning definitely did not disappoint . I would definitely recommend The longham White Horse and would like to thank Barry for such an enjoyable stay. Debbie from Frinton

After a drive right into the countryside in not the best of weather, the reward of this country pub was well worth it. Greeted by Barry, a roaring fire whilst the storm did its worst outside. My room was a real home from home, and suitably decorated for its country setting with loads of space. I had a lovely evening chatting away with Barry and his friends (not something I get to do often as a solo, female, business traveller). Would highly recommend as a great alternative to monotonous chain hotels. I had a perfect poached egg for breakfast and will be going back.

Stayed in our campervan overnight in the car park. Landlord is a real character, locals friendly and barmaid very helpful and accommodating. Good beer and a hearty meal. We would certainly visit again!

One night great stay, room was very clean and bed comfortable. Bathroom products were supplied. Shower was superb with great water pressure. Evening menu was limited but good quality and extremely tasty. We both had the yummy steak & ale pie, with creamy mash, peas and gravy. Equally delicious was the full English breakfast which set us up nicely for the 250 mile journey home. Best of all was meeting the landlord Barry who was very attentive and a great character. Would recommend a stay and we would definately stay again. It was also very competitively priced. 5 Stars from us.

Barry was very warm and welcoming. Beautiful, light & well appointed bedrooms with provided toiletteres for a week stay and hairdryers. Lots of drawers for storage so it makes a good location for sight seeing. The comfortable bed very clean, and very good breakfast from a very nice man. Very nice garden area also. thanks for a great stay

Great pub with a fantastic selection of beer. The rooms are large with comfortable beds and all the products are supplied. The evening meal and breakfast were so tasty. The best thing about this pub though is the owner Barry you don’t meet characters like him anymore a real pleasure to have met him. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
