Christchurch Old Vicarage has of course been changed and adapted many times over the years. Growing in size and status in line with the neighbouring church, this story is entirely played out in it's style and architecture. Although still in period, the front and rear facades are completely different ! The property is set in established gardens that offer fantastic levels of privacy. Tranquil surroundings that really do make you feel as though you can relax and escape, away from the pressure of work and the hustle & bustle of a busy lifestyle. The guest accommodation is situated in the very heart of this Grade II listed home, helping to accentuate the feeling that you are treading in the atmospheric footsteps of those vicars of old. We have also made a conscious decision to only accept one group of guests at a time, reinforcing the desire to make visitors feel like they are here as house guests visiting for the weekend!

Kay, our host gave us a 5 star service during our 3 day stay, nothing was too much trouble . The Old VICARGE has beautiful & magical setting, it’s history rich and many items/decorations all around home, each with its own special story.
It was a great find and suited our stay in every way, our visit was for a belated birthday celebration for our daughter, and she was extremely happy.
We all slept well in the comfy beds. After the long days walking the gently massage feeling from the powerful shower was much needed or the choice of a deep free standing bath.
Highly recommend this B&B that offers so much more .
Thank you, Kay for your outstanding hospitality and the full English breakfast that was fit for a king/queen. We look forward to returning and discovering more of the local attractions. Thank you for spoiling us , Suriya , Ray and Aisha. From Hampton Hill, London.

Lovely large old vicarage bursting with character. As stated earlier, there are 3 bedrooms in the suite and you are able to choose whichever one (or ones) you prefer. Kay, Ian and Olivia are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The area is absolutely beautiful and so interesting. Symonds Yat viewpoint is only a couple of miles away and there is a lovely walk through the forest to get to it. Unfortunately, the weather was against us, so we didn’t try the walk, but it just means that we can save it for another day. All in all, I would not hesitate to return to the Old Vicarage and can’t recommend it highly enough.

This place is such a gem!! It has the history and beauty of a home its age, with modern comfort and amenities which don’t take away from the classic beauty. Kay and Ian are a delight, so helpful and truly amazing hosts. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, the garden is lovely, the location is perfect for Forest of Dean and Wye Valley activities— really there’s nothing to fault here at all.

If you’re even considering coming to the area, you really should stay here. It has the comfort of a luxury stay with the welcome of staying with good friends.

Thank you Kay for being such a welcoming host and nothing too much trouble.
The Old Vicarage and gardens are full of charm and history and we were amazed when we saw where we were staying!!! 6 magically rich decorated rooms with all their curiosities and antiques. 3 bedrooms to choose from and the luxury of our own robes!!!! Such a lovely touch.
The breakfast was delicious and yet again in a very quirky decorated dining area.
Good luck with all your successes for this wonderful enchanted B&B Kay and such great value for money too!!!! 😊

We stayed for one night and received an incredibly warm welcome in a historic and tastefully-decorated vicarage. The setting was beautiful and convenient for exploring local attractions, and Kay was very knowledgable about places to visit. We had an entire suite to ourselves, which was fantastic! Everything was amazing: the shower, the bathtub, the breakfast, etc. Highly recommended! We hope to go back sometime soon!

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it! Even before we arrived, we could tell that we were going to get a warm welcome and we were not disappointed! Kay offered us a lovely cup of tea on arrival and made sure we felt completely at home. The rooms were delightful with superb soft furnishings, and very clean and comfortable with lots of lovely touches.
They have 2 double rooms and a single, with a shared bathroom and separate toilet so there was plenty of space for us. They only let out the rooms to one lot of guests at a time so you don't have to worry about meeting another guest either! We also had the use of a big lounge downstairs but we didn't really need it.
Breakfast was wonderful too with lots of choice and lovely fresh eggs from their own chickens.
Kay was full of good suggestions about what to see in the area and where to eat as well. You really feel like you are staying with friends. Can't recommend it highly enough! Great value too!

We stayed at the Old Vicarage as a two night stop-over on our way down to Pembrokeshire. The welcome from Kay was superb and we were impressed with the comfortable rooms provided to us as a family of three.

Breakfast was plentiful and faultlessly executed by the ever friendly Kay.

Symonds Yat is only three miles away and, being outdoor types, we walked there and back to enjoy the fabulous scenery and wildlife.

Back at the B&B we really liked having use of the common room which is well stocked with games and jigsaws. Our daughter was also thrilled to be offered to help with the chickens kept in the garden.

We highly recommend this B&B and will definitely return.

We could not find a hotel with a twin bed but was offered the family suite at this hotel, When we arrived we were worried about the state of the building. We drove down the driveway and was immediately greeted by the proprietor Kay, who continued to support us during our 2 nights stay. The Inside & the garden was extremely well laid out, with beautiful old fashioned quality furniture. Our room had two double bedrooms & a single bedroom, so we had the choice of which rooms to use.We had tea making facilities. It had a separate toilet, separate bathroom & separate shower room. Fresh clean towels every day. The shower was large with hot water & a fan heater that warmed up the room very quickly. My room overlooked the garden & had a television and a very comfortable bed. It was quiet, spacious and very clean. Kay was very interested in what you were doing & very attentive to our needs. She directed us to the local pub, down Ross Road (15 minute walk) which served excellent food. 10 minute drive to Symonds Yat, where you can walk alongside the river with stunning views or take a canoe, cross the river on the Ferry or just relax in one of the local pubs and watch the world go by. Kay greets you when you go down for breakfast, where you have the choice of cereals, fruit juices, yoghurt etc. She then serves you fresh tea or coffee with toast. Breakfast includes most full breakfast choices, including salmon. I could not fault the friendliness of this Hotel & will certainly return next time we are in the area. Well done Kay.

We stayed here as a family of three for one week. Fabulous setting straight out of the history books. Lovely oldie worldly inside and quirky bold interior comforts in the suite of rooms. We often sat outside and fed the chickens and relaxed in the pretty wraparound gardens. Kay and Ian are charming hosts with great local knowledge. We will miss them!

Answer from Kay H
Hi, we are just around the corner from the lodges so it is comfortably walkable. A late night is no problem. Hope this helps.
