Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We’re at the hotel for a wedding. As we had a 200 mile drive before the wedding we asked for an early check in. We were told via email by Daisy that this was not possible however we could change in the toilet!! I asked if we could get into our room just to change and then leave the room we were told not until after 3pm. The wedding was at 2. This we travelled in the belief that we would attend the wedding in our jeans. However when we arrived at 12.15 our room was ready. When I tried to buy 4 soft drinks for 4 children age 8 and under I was told I was in the wrong room and should use the other bar for wedding guests. This bar was empty. I was served.but only after the woman serving told her colleague that I had an attitude. All I wanted was 4 j2o. In the bedroom we here hear people in the other bedrooms arguing and in another room talking. The floors creaked badly. A bad nights sleep was had. Most of the staff were very good but some were not. Would we stay at the Bickley Mill Inn again….No.

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting the Abbey. It’s a bit out of the way, but very friendly staff, good food and clean. There’s lots of stairs, so No good if your not fully abled, obviously being an older property it’s not so we’ll sound proofed.

A lovely evening meal with family. Good quality food and great service. Reasonable choice but a bit limited on vegetarian options. Large wedding party going on but this didn’t disturb the restaurant.

The Buckley Mill is a pleasure to stay at, comfortable clean rooms, very friendly staff and great food make this venue a great stop over. Don't forget to look out for the rabbits mornings and evenings. I would have no problem recommending it.

Were do I start a truly 5* experience from check in to check out. Very comfortable bed and room felt welcomed had haddock and chips with crushed peas. The waitress at the restaurant very kindly advised and assured me that my food would be cooked separately due to my religious needs(halal) with no meat contamination. Breakfast i had opted for full vegetarian breakfast did not disapont . As a frequent traveller and staying in hotels most of my time due to nature of my work I have stayed all over uk and abroad. I must say this hotel and services are truly 5* and you won't be disappointed money well spent get down there and spoil yourself you won't be disappointed.

Many thanks to the excellent staff for arranging and catering for my daughter’s wedding on August 4. The food served for the wedding breakfast was divine as was the evening barbecue. The professional service given made this a very happy and memorable day.

Looking for quick lunch stop we followed the brown signs and found this charming, friendly pub with a good lunch menu, quickly served, well presented and delicious. Worth the slight detour. Four stars as we didn’t try the desserts due to our time constraints but will come again when in the area.

On arrival we were greeted by the manager, absolutely first class, made to feel very welcome. The rooms are delightful, clean, fresh and everything you need. Dinner service was excellent, some choices were on the small side for people with good appetites and the battered fish was very dry. All presented well and a great wine list. A good night's sleep but then it went downhill at breakfast. Slow service, had to keep catching server's eye to get teas and orders done. The choices were good but when it arrived, most of the items were luke warm at best, the sausages and bacon had been kept cooked for a while and were dry and difficult to cut. Toast arrived just piled high. More thought on presentation and providing hot food. Would def stay again if in the area and hope standards may have improved in the breakfast area.
