Although only two of us we booked the family suite as was the only room available. Room was great size and spotless. This would suit a family of 3 or 4 easily. Modern shower in bathroom and all the little extras you would expect, shower gel, tea, coffee etc. Bed was really comfy and could hear no noise from bar below or outside. Great nights sleep. We ate in restaurant, the menu is an indian menu and food was nice. We had few drinks in bar and was also good. Staff very friendly too. Only small negative is breakfast is only served from 8am-9am. A small window, especially on a Sunday morning when you want a bit of lie in after Saturday drinking :) This did catch us by surprise as the actual booking info we received actually states breakfast available 8am-9pm........BREAKFAST
Our breakfast is served in our downstairs dining areas, from 8am to 9pm.  If you require an earlier breakfast, please let us know in advance to allow us to tailor our rota accordingly.........thankfully we did notice just in time and breakfast was ok. Staff are lovely, very friendly and hotel very clean. Callendar is a beautiful place to visit and we would stay in Crags again.

Response from Crags Hotel, Owner at The Crags Hotel

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Crags. Thank you for highlighting the slight error regarding breakfast times, this has now been fixed. We are a small hotel and do not open for breakfast to the public, so we keep breakfast in line with other hotels in the area.

We have just spent 5 wonderful nights at The Crags hotel in Callander.
The hotel/pub is an ideal place to stay, the staff are fantastic, nothing was to much for them, always had a smile and little chat for us. We had stayed here before when the previous owners were there, it was OK but now it is greatly improved.
Bedrooms are cozy, clean and comfortable, if you needed anything it was left outside your room more or less immediately.
I was a little concerned that we had to go across the road to their sister hotel for breakfast, I had no need to it was great, we were able to chat to other residents from both. The breakfast was delicious, pipping hot and good quality ingredients, again nothing was to much for the staff.
It was also nice to see the owner on the shop floor serving breakfast and behind the bar, she was lovely, made us feel so welcome and has a great sense of humour.
Thank you Lauren and all your staff for your fabulous hospitality, I'm certain you will see us again soon

Charming hotel in the centre of Callander, surrounded by stunning scenery and walls. Excellent breakfasts. Only serving evening meals at weekends at present but their sister hotel across the road makes up for that.
One of the guests managed to leave their bathroom tap running and flood the room below in the middle of the night, but the wonderful way the hotel handled it meant we all ended up friends with each other and were treated to a free dinner as well as an excellent story to dine out on 😀
Second floor rooms are small but fully equipped and great value.

We Stayed at the Crags Hotel following being gifted a voucher for chritmas for 2 nights stay with dinner and breakfast and prosecco on arrival.
We arrived and had no idea where to check in. We found someone at the bar who showed us our room. The rooms was modern, however it wasnt very clean, lots of dust and the bathroom was dirty. The massive lamps on the bed side tablets took up too much room, and the class on top wasnt secured so it just constantly sliding around really dangerous and annoying.
We had our meal at the sister hotel as the hotels restaurants which is much more fine dining was shut for the winter, the meal was horrendous at the Waverly, we ended up at the local chip shop.
Bsck to the room, The bed was hard which was really uncomfortable, I woke up unrested and sore.
However we were looking for to our Scottish breakfast, that we had ordered the night before. Self service toast etc which was fine, breakfast came out and I had placed my ordered wrong I dont know how I managed that but I did, the waitress who I think was also cooking happily offered me what I had missed, but the food was not good at all, I think it felt like it had been sitting for a while. My husbands eggs were over done, and our bacon was rock hard. The only edible thing in my plate was my sausage. It totally unacceptable considering that we had to order our breakfast the night before and had to give a time slot of 8, 8.30 or 9 am. I was so disappointed and it was just the icing on the cake. Give the waitress here due she did offer us more food and asked if everything was okay but after the hassle of the night before I didnt want to complaine.
We decided not to stay another night and checked out early. We didnt drink the prosecco so asked if we could have a soft drink instead, we were told no becuase of the tills??
All in all I would say the hotel was under staffed, we struggle to even find someone to hand our keys back to. I wont ve recommending to anyone to stay here, and I would day there photo on the website are misleading. If I had bought the voucher myself I would have been looking for my money back

A planned visit with family, on arrival all was explained as we were shown to our room, every staff member said hello with a cheery smile. The room was lovely and clean with ample space for three of us (family room). Within the room itself were toiletries, towels and additional bedding if required. A small refrigerator with coffee and tea facilities available. The dining staff were excellent with options available for an Indian and European-menu. We opted on both nights for the I Indian choice which was delicious and the Chef even came out asking us if everything was okay, our reply was absolutely delicious! The breakfast options were varied and we made changes to what was on offer and nothing was too much trouble for them. On very regular intervals we were asked if there was anything else was required and if what we had was okay! If I had one complaint it would be that the beautiful little cozy lounge with an open fire was fairly small and it was too busy for us to have a seat but it was lovely! Thank you to all the five star staff, who offered us a lovely stay at extremely reasonable prices. We will definitely return and thank you for helping to make this a lovely visit to Callander!

Given the challenges of operating during Covid19 the staff here could not have been better. Professional, friendly and aware at all times. We arrived with bikes and they went out of their way to make sure they were stored safely.
We couldn't have dinner but went to their sister hotel further up the main street where the service was equally excellent.
Breakfast was also excellent and set us up for a long day in the saddle.
Would recommend and we'll use again when passing through.

Lauren and her team were amazing.
First of all, they showed so much flexibility with issues we had with dates for our booking.
During our stay we were looked after so well by Keeley and Avril, who couldn't do enough for us.
We have special dietary requirements, which they catered for, including creating stunning off-menu dishes just for us! Any extra requests we had, they were very happy to help us with.
Our three-night stay at the Crags (including two meals at the Abbotsford Lodge), was characterised by exceptional customer service from the friendliest staff you could hope to encounter in a hotel.
All in all a lovely experience. We would recommend booking one of their rooms with "garden view", for the most tranquil and peaceful stay. Even on a Friday night, any noise from the bar subsided at 10:30, which made us feel that the hotel prioritise their guests.
We'll definitely be back!

Book this hotel for 2 night stay in standard double room with breakfast and bottle of Prosecco in room with itison voucher. I had to contact the hotel again a week or so later as we didn’t get email confirmation as promised. Email was eventually sent but confirmation was now for a superior twin room rather than standard double but room looked fine on their website so thought it was fine. On arrival we were shown to what was described as a small double on their website, certainly not what we had booked or what they had confirmed. We were unable to change as they said hotel was full but they did offer us a free 2 course dinner. As we had made the journey and sorted childcare we decided to try to make the best of it, however after 1 night we decided to leave as we found the room claustrophobic with its small size and sloping ceiling, the bathroom/shower room was very small and radiator wasn’t working so very cold. I just wish they had advised us beforehand that they could not fulfil booking and we could have rearranged the dates or booked elsewhere.

We had a really nice room on the first floor overlooking the front if the property. The other family room was in the top floor, and Wifi access in that room was a little limited. However the rooms were good, clean, nicely decorated and at a good price. The breakfast was also very good.
