Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From the moment I turned up from an overnight flight and an early-morning drive from Edinburgh to be welcomed with a bacon sandwich and cup of tea, I knew I'd picked the right place! The farmhouse is located just outside Callander, so is perfect for those that would rather stay in a country setting than a town. Some of the B&Bs in the town that our fellow travellers used got mixed reviews, so if you want to be sure of where you're staying, I'd highly recommend Auchenlaich. The food was lovely, and Bill & Rita keep Scottish craft beers in stock to wash it down. The breakfast options are very comprehensive and the cooked breakfasts are freshly made to order. The room was a good size with a comfortable double bed, a sofa and TV. The private bathroom was huge! While you're there, make sure you take the walk up to the Bracklinn Falls, which are accessible via a walking path behind the farmhouse. Highly recommended - give them a go and you won't be disappointed!

We just endured a very hostile stay at Auchenlaich. We did arrive late owing to a car issue which we called ahead regarding. We were told it would be okay so long as we arrived by 10. We arrived at 10.01pm. From the off we found the host rude and unpleasant. Our 3 year old son was asleep but woke up on arrival and was a little upset. This went down very badly and we were chastised that we would cause "bloody murder" with other guests. He settled as soon as he got to the room. We chose to all have a full breakfast as our son likes this, and having paid for 3 guests we should be intitled to this, the host seemed not to want to provide this for our son. The private toilet had a faulty tap that wouldn't run water and was loose. The room was ok but the walls were thin and the single bed was very uncomfortable. Breakfast was the absolute nail in the coffin. We booked 9am and came down a little earlier. It was again rather hostile from the off. We met a very nice couple over breakfast which slowed up down but we really enjoyed chatting. We very much felt that we were taking too long with breakfast being cleared around us, despite not actually taking very long. I then took my son to sit in the lounge at about 9.25 and put on netflix so I could finish my breakfast quickly. I was told the cleaners would be in so we could not use the lounge, I had to watch it in my room. Netflix didn't work in the room and this defeated the purpose of entertaining my son for 5 minutes while I ate. Check out was at 10.30am so surely we were entitled to use of the facilities at 9.30? As we left, I assume the partner of the host came and stood and watched us leaving with a direct stare the whole time. Quite incredible really. Safe to say we won't be back and we don't recommend it. Very child/parent unfriendly. It was most unpleasant.

Great stay here over the long August Bank Holiday weekend. Rita and Bill are the nicest hosts I've ever stayed with. This was a last minute booking and everything was in place for COVID-19. I couldn't recommend a stay here highly enough, location is stunning and such easy access to The Trossachs. We even managed to get up to Glencoe. Great food, lovely large bedrooms, comfy beds, best hosts ever. What's not to love? Get booking and have a lovely time.

We stayed in Auchenlaich Farmhouse B&B in August 2020 for the first time following a last minute COVID cancellation of our family holiday in France. The farm is in a beautiful setting, tucked away in a quiet spot, away from road noise, but also easy find and get to. The B&B is on a working farm but unlike other similar places we have stayed, we were not disturbed by noise, and did not feel like we were in the way. There was ample secure parking and the owners were kind enough to let us store our bikes and bike rack in their barn (and there was also lots of outdoor space for the children to run around in). The owners, Rita and Bill, couldn’t have made us feel more at home: we were met by an exceptionally warm welcome despite the short notice with which we booked. COVID-19 precautions were highlighted: hand gel on entry and in public rooms and private bathroom; our own table in the dining room for the whole stay; the cleaner wore a face mask. The food was fabulous; breakfast has not suffered from the limitations imposed by COVID. The choice of food was excellent and my 8-year-old son insists that we give special mention to Bill’s pancakes with maple syrup that were “a-maz-ing”. Excellent picnic lunches and evening meals were also available on request and we had some superb evening meals which also catered for younger diners. The rooms were spacious, and clean and we had an adjoining room for the children, which was perfect for our needs. The beds were very comfortable and good quality towels and toiletries were provided and refreshed on request. For our whole stay we were treated like family rather than guests, and it was even possible to do some laundry when we extended our stay. We could not recommend them highly enough.

Very much enjoyed our stay at Auchenlaich Farmhouse. Set in beautiful surroundings, it's a short drive into Callender centre and a short walk into countryside and some amazing waterfalls. The shared downstairs accommodation was very pleasant, with a lovely, light and airy dining room overlooking the garden and hills. We stayed in the Woodland suite (2 rooms with adjoining door), which were nice, clean rooms with a very comfortable large double bed and views of the garden and, as it suggests, woodland. The rooms were not ensuite but had it's own allocated separate toilet and bathroom, which was fine. The shower was good and plenty of towels were provided. However, the sink in the toilet was only just functional and the decor had seen better days, needing a good clean! Only other negative about the rooms was that the internet connection was so bad that we couldn't use the television! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating offering us with complimentary drinks on arrival and with our last evening meal. As we were visiting at the time of the Covid 19 pandemic, they had done their best to make the public areas safe, providing hand sanitising gel on entry to the house and in all the bathrooms. The breakfasts were delicious with a good choice and variations for our vegetarian. Delicious evening meals (particularly the puddings) were provided on request. Overall, a lovely place to base yourself to explore the Trossachs National Park.

This b and b is on a farm, and set away from the road. The room was comfortable, shower good, and had WiFi. What sold this place to us was Rita,a real character of a lady. Made us feel very welcome. Her husband ,Bill, is the cook, and a very good one. They serve evening meals at a set time each night if you want them . And the breakfasts are cooked to order. We enjoyed ourselves hugely while here

We stayed at Auchenlaich Farmhouse for one night. Rita was friendly. The rooms were tidy, but you could hear every word from the rooms next door and the ventilation in the bathroom was very loud. Breakfast was okay.

My daughter had some work experience for two days filming of a Scottish blockbuster. My wife and I decided to take a short break so booked 3 nights. The owners of the B&B - Rita and Bill were great. They accommodated the fact that my daughter would leave at 6 in the morning returning at 8pm and Rita and Bill took this in their stride. The Scottish breakfast was truly amazing comprising cereals fresh fruit and yoghurt and a great full Scottish cooked breakfast. Bill's evening 3 course meals were great with choice for everyone. The bedrooms were really comfortable - in fact a home from home experience. Rita and Bill were the perfect hosts, freindly and helpful. Will be back.

Had a lovely stay at this beautiful farmhouse. The rooms were lovely, roomy with an ensuite. Nice common area to share stories with other guests or just relax. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of selections. We also opted to stay for dinner. Very glad we did, it was amazing. Woke up to a lovely view of the Scottish countryside.
