The hosts at Poppies, John and Sue, are incredibly helpful and hospitable. They do they everything they can to make your stay comfortable, and gave us very good recommendations for places to eat and things to see in the local area.

The breakfast is delicious, and John and Sue work hard to make sure your every need is catered for. It felt like a home from home.

The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the Trossachs and surrounding areas, and the drives were absolutely stunning. We can’t recommend this place enough. We’ve already started planning our next trip up here!

We are on the 2nd day of our visit to Callander and are staying at this lovely little hotel. It’s definitely more like a very good 4 star. Our superior double room, room 1 at top of stairs, is excellent, spacious and bright. Ok the showers is very noisy but the pressure and temperature good. Breakfast this morning was outstanding! One of the best we’ve both had! What was lovely also was that they had fresh butter that was cubed and sitting in a nice little dish. I hate unwrapping butter sachets where you end up with most of it on your fingers. Really lovely owners and the young male waiter was very efficient and polite.

Its a shame they don’t do dinners anymore as the meals looked really good and judging by our breakfast I’m sure they’d have been very tasty! We went to The Waverley which looks like a standard chain pub but we were wrong…food was amazing. So all in all we are really happy with our trip so far! We will definitely recommend Poppies to our friends and family family!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Touring Scotland we overnighted at Poppies and were very pleased with our accommodation. Sue showed us to our large room at the top of the house which has a lounge area, very useful to storing our motorcycle gear. Breakfast was a real treat with quality bacon, sausage and black pudding, it certainly set me up for the rest of the day.
We will be back!

We stayed at Poppies for one night and everything was absolutely perfect. John and Susan were very hospitable and the room felt really clean and beautifully presented. The cooked breakfast was the best I've had in a long time. I'd thoroughly recommend Poppies to anyone wanting to stay in and around Callander.

Fabulous stay at Poppies Hotel. The place is homely and comfortable. Superb bedroom with beautiful ensuite. Breakfast to die for. Lovely homemade fruit salad, lovely cooked breakfast with high quality tasty bacon, sausages and stornoway black pudding. Delicious scrambled egg and hot smoked salmon...divine! Comfy huge bed. Hosts were terrific neither John nor Sue could do enough for us. Lovely residents bar with huge selection of whisky and spirits to suit all tastes.

Definitely worth a visit. Came home recharged. Thank you both so much.

I recently attended a small and intimate wedding at Poppies. The experience was flawless from start to finish. The rooms were stunning, clean and most importantly the bed was so very comfy! Our experience with the owners Susan and John was great. They were great with communication and really went above and beyond to ensure the my friends wedding day was beautiful and perfect. The food at Poppies exceeded all expectations and my only regret was not having some dinner on our arrival night - both our breakfasts and our 3 course evening meal at the wedding were outstanding! John is an extremely talented chef… we were a party of 7 and it was unanimously agreed that this hotel really is something special. We will all be back, and I can’t wait! Could not recommend this place more, and the prices (including at the hotel bar) are extremely reasonable some might say a bargain in all honesty. Looking forward to returning already and have been home only 1 week

There are many hotels, B&Bs, guest houses in Callander but the Poppies has a nicely balanced combination of quality, comfort, cleanliness, friendly owners, a snug bar and the perfect location for a short walk into town. The breakfast was substantial and again, good quality.

Unfortunately the restaurant wasn’t available during our stay.

We have no problem at all in recommending the Poppies to anyone who is visiting Callander.

Another lovely weekend away in Poppies Hotel Callander. The owners John and Susan can’t do enough for you to make your stay welcoming, relaxed and comfortable. The rooms are lovely, well decorated, comfortable and very clean, the Covid precautions are very good. As someone with Coeliac Disease it’s difficult to find hotels with an excellent, tasty and safe to eat gluten free breakfast and I can say the Gluten Free breakfast/ordinary breakfasts are absolutely superb. We have stayed at this hotel many times now and I have never had any gluten adverse reaction to the breakfast and have never felt I have missed out on anything at all. 5 stars from me!

I would strongly recommend Poppies Hotel. We stayed a couple of nights and could not fault them.
Some highlights:
A very warm welcome, a well appointed bedroom with possibly the most comfy bed ever, everywhere was spotless, great bar with a fine selection of whiskies, outstanding Scottish breakfast and friendly helpful hosts who couldn't do enough for us.

We didn't have our dogs with us and didn't see any while staying there, so can't say for sure. But the owners are both very nice and helpful so give them a call and they can confirm.
