The Old Rectory Country Inn “Comfortable rooms. Great Food. And a warm welcome” A Family business started 12 years ago saw a building - formally The Church Rectory - go through a much needed transformation and over the years has built up a reputation based on quality. The atmosphere of the inn is informal, as it should be, and friendly with a good core of regular custom both for food and drink. Gray’s Scottish Restaurant at The Old Rectory is named after a past owner” Reverend Alan Gray”, and is brought right up to date by Tim and Jane Warbrick, Tim being The Reverend Grays Grandson. If you are looking for traditional choices using local produce where possible or delicious food, with a modern take on traditional classics then The Old Rectory Inn is just the place for you. One of the most popular pub restaurants in Callander, The Old Rectory Inn has earned itself a reputation for providing good quality food cooked by our very own in house chef. “Our 3 Course Sunday Roast Menu is Legendary” Take a look at our menus; we think you'll find plenty to tempt you. The Old Rectory Inn is a great place to eat, drink and relax with friends and family. Our Pub forms the backbone of The Old Rectory Inn and a warm welcome invites you into our cosy bar area where we have selected beers, lagers and ciders available in bottles and on draught. On warm, sunny days the garden allows for outside dining. We Have Live Contempary Scottish Music here every Wednesday Night the occasional Saturday night and Sunday Afternoons (musicians also sourced locally where possible). We host Quiz night every Tuesday night, our quizzes are good fun and not taken too seriously at all. Our spirit collection is vast, with an array of gins, we also have a hefty whisky collection including local and further afield whiskies. If you're looking to get together with friends, The Old Rectory Inn is one of the best places in the area to swap stories, drink in the atmosphere and savour some great drinks with some great characters. Remember that we host live music in the Whisky Library so before you book, please check with us first if you do not like the sound of people enjoying themselves!!!

We had booked a two-night stay in The Old Rectory Inn, planning on doing some biking and walking in the daytime and relaxing in the bar and restaurant in the evenings. As things turned out, we enjoyed it all so much that we managed to extend our stay to a third night. It was great.
The Inn is very comfortable and spacious, the bedrooms especially so. Ours was well equipped, easy to relax in and perfectly quiet through the night; even though facing the road, we were not aware of any noise at all. The bar has a very good range of drinks - especially single malt whiskies and gins - and the restaurant was a delight. We tried something different each evening and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Likewise, breakfast offered a wide range of delicious choices which were a great start to the day. Without fail, service was attentive but unobtrusive.
The Inn's location is ideal, close to cycle/walking tracks and paths and only minutes from completely quiet and beautiful countryside.
The hospitality offered by the owners and staff is welcoming, generous and friendly. They are all working within current restrictions, but working above all to make sure we had a good time. We did.
Also, we were offered secure storage for our bikes on the premises and came down the next day to find that the bikes had been wrapped in waterproof sheeting. A nice touch.
Thanks, everyone. We loved it all and fully intend to return.

How nice is it to find a place with such nice staff, very reasonably priced beers, lagers and soft drinks. It doesn't end there either, 3 course Sunday lunch that can't be faulted ( we had beef) for just £12.95. Also the two of us had a beautifully cooked steak with all the usual trimmings and a free bottle of wine for just £40. Next time we are down Callendar way we plan on trying to book a room in this great small family ran hotel.

Stayed here on Saturday night as we were up for the Blues and Jazz Festival. Yes the hotel could do with a bit of TLC but you get what you pay for and we were more than happy, large warm cosy room and when we came back at night for a wee drink before bed singer was on and the locals were lovely and friendly. Yes we went to bed and could hear the music and people talking but I normally take ear plugs anyway as I'm a light sleeper so didn't bother me. But yes be aware if you want an early night they do have live music and seems to be busy on a Saturday night so you can hear people talking etc. We had a great nights sleep and got up to a lovely breakfast. I can't complain about anything as I said you get what you pay for and for £80 for both of us B & B we were more than happy. Would actually like to go back with friends as i think they would enjoy it too.

A really good place to start our motorcycle tour of Scotland. Rooms are basic but good value albeit a little noisy on a Sunday night if you’re upset by the sound of people having fun in the bar, I was not. Staff were great laidback but attentive, a real skill. The food was great value. Thanks for a great start to our trip.

we went for the sunday 3 course dinner , at the end of the day you get what you pay for, a very basic meal . The roast beef was tough and small in portion size and the potatoes were hard , watery gravy . Some may be happy with this , but I would prefer a bit better quality even if I have to pay a bit more .

Lovely friendly host but overall the decor/furnishings in a sad state. From approaching the front door it was clear the property was in need of serious TLC.
Apologies for not having complained at the time but our general discontent was with state of the building/furnishings/decor and not something that could have been fixed there and then. There were stains on the bedsheet, bedspread and cushion. The windows in the bedroom were in need of attention, marked with what seemed like years of condensation. It was not a pleasant experience. Had previous guests mentioned the condition of the accommodation I would not have made the booking which is exactly why I am leaving this review.

We arrived at the Old Rectory Inn after a full day of sightseeing and at the beginning of catching a cold. I just wanted to fall into bed. However, Saturday nights the Inn has a local musician playing folk music. While he was quite good, I had no choice but to listen to him while he played until midnight. I could also hear the other patrons talking below as they exited the Inn, as our room was in the front of the building. Speaking of the room, it was tiny, with about 18" on each side of the bed. The heat was not on and took about 30 minutes to achieve a temperature that allowed us to take off our jackets. The staff was very nice and breakfast the next morning was lovely. I just would have liked to have the option to listen to the music, as opposed to being forced to listen to it.

Following a long drive down from Thurso in torrential rain we called in at The Old Rectory to see if there were any rooms available. We were offered a room which was ideal , we had the choice of and evening meal, either English or Indian. This was our lucky night the had a band on, 3 guys playing a mixture of mainly folk music. A great night enjoyed by a very busy bar. Music finished at 1100pm so as not to disturb other guests. Good choice of breakfast. Staff all friendly and helpful. Would I stay again? YES

Visited for drinks and a light bite to eat. Food was tasty enough and not over priced. Great location and staff quite friendly.

On arriving we tried to order a bottle of red wine which we were told they had run out of. The gent behind the bar said he would go and buy some when he was free. We offered to bring our own as we had some in our Hotel which was 5 minutes away and pay him £10 for drinking it. He said no and since drinks were very limited unless you like Gin or Lager we had no choice but to wait. A short time later the man was leaving with a Tesco bag so i asked him very politely if he could try and get a Malbec or Cabernet as i knew he was going to Tesco next door and this was the only type of wine i liked.

He said i will see what i can do!

He did in fact arrive back with a bottle of Merlot and said that this was the best he could get. As we had already ordered some food i drank the cheap wine and paid the £18 for it. Next day i made a point in visiting Tesco to check out prices of the wine. As expected, the bottle was the cheapest on offer at a whopping £4.50 !!! Considering there was a bottle of Malbec and Cabernet at £4.70 i thought possibly for good customer service and quality he could have at least bought and made an effort for the sake of 20p

Next night different pub with good quality wine

Food was outstanding although no promotions apart from an excellent Sunday roast menu. Breakfast was an amazing menu. Dinner was a very good variation of Scottish fare and very good value for the quality. A short 2 minute walk gives plenty of options
