We really enjoyed our stay at The Brendon Arms following the disappointment of having to cancel an earlier holiday in April because of the lockdown. We loved our rooms which were extremely comfortable. The standard of cleanliness was exemplary, and the precautions for hygiene and social distancing they have in place, made us feel assured and safe.

The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice, and we also had three evening meals which were delicious and very good value. Our family were staying in Padstow and travelled to meet us for a meal in the bar. They brought their new puppy with them and felt very comfortable, and were certainly impressed when the staff supplied a treat for her. They also commented on the quality and value of the food.

We can really recommend The Brendon Arms, who don't make any over-statement when they say they offer the friendliest welcome in Cornwall. Thank you.

Booked in advance as 9 of us plus dog. Arrived to find our table hadn't been transferred so no table was set up. Waited and eventually moved a table from the gorgeous restaurant (we weren't allowed in there) to add on to a bar table. We were seated next to the pool table and juke box and under 2 televisions that were both on. Waited 30 minutes for orders to be taken - we had said we would wait for the 5pm menu but the menu is not that extensive to need 45mins to choose. Ordered food, good portions and mostly delicious. Sadly the pie looked a bit of a funny color but think that was due to the meat being pork. The halloumi was under grilled for a burger but all in all edible. Personally I think £3.50 for a coke is too high considering a pint of lager/cider is £4.50 and if you are driving its a bit pricey. On ordering our food at the bar the guy taking the orders was obviously either new or just fed up as he was rude to my son when he said 'oh sorry its 2 pies not one' to which he was met with 'do not interrupt me', even his colleague was shocked by his attitude !! Our group ranged from 11 -78 but you couldn't really hear each other as the televisions were above us and the juke box was on behind us, it was like sitting between 3 speakers! Then we had the issue of the pool table ..my husband and sister were constantly ducking to avoid being hit in the back of the head !! The restaurant is so super lush and we would of loved to sit in there but because we brought our dog we weren't allowed. It says dog friendly but really you are shoved in the dingy bar area. Would I go back ? No sorry

Stopped in for the afternoon. Bar area is dog friendly. Staff were polite and it has a nice atmosphere. Soft drinks are expensive. Food prices are typically 'tourist-like' which is fine but on this occasion the price did not reflect the quality. Beef burger was a small flat pate in an oversized bun, and very dry even with a brioche bun. Chicken burger was very much the same - small and dry from being overcooked. Nice fresh side salad and decent chips. Overall is was okay but came away with a feeling of "it will do" but disappointing considering the price paid.

We requested a table for 7 but due to covid we were told we could only have a table for 4 & a table for 3, fair enough. It was a cold blustery evening and the doors were open. We were seated in the windy, stark bar area that had sticky, unclean tables and MTV directly overhead blaring from the screens- we were not seated in the plush restaurant we thought we had booked. Due to 3 small, hungry and cold children we requested a move to the empty restaurant tables inside but were told that wasn’t possible. Incidentally, there was a table for seven seated, close by- I wonder why we weren’t allowed to sit together. The manageress was abrupt and went missing when we asked for help. If we could award zero stars, we would.

when we first turned up he looked at us for a minute then turned away and left us waiting when there was clearly free tables we tried to catch his attention but was out of luck finally we were greeted by what could have been the bald rather ugly looking shabby aged owner or just an employee and was instantly shot down by the attitude of this man. he had a low tone and didn’t even smile. we were chirpy and thankful but he barely said a word to us, being so used to it back in somerset not having that same happy customer service made us very upset. we were waiting a while and body asked us if we wanted food which we said we did at the door, it wasn’t very busy and i waved for some help in ordering he didn’t even stop he just told me to ‘bare with’ as he went past but proceeded to sit with customer on a bench who were clearly his friends. however, all other staff especially the older gentleman serving drinks and clearing empty glasses was more than polite along with the well mannered women they were quick and lovely and all served us our well priced and yummy food very nicely. i then had a cigarette on the public footpath out side because the smoking area has customers eating and i didn’t want to disturb them with the smell but the same miserable old metallic faced git came and told me i wasn’t allowed to and told me to put it out.... whilst on the street. i would recommend the food but this one waiter was rude.

Lovely beer garden and the staff were nice and friendly. The Food was really good. Been twice (October and December) and we would return again. Dog friendly in the bar and they are also allowed on the beach. The canal runs along the other side of the road to the pub and is easy walking.

We attempted to go there for a drink on our first evening in Cornwall but it was too busy and they only had room outside which is was too wet for. However we were in luck on our return the next evening, both with seating and the weather so we enjoyed a few drinks outside. Good clear instructions on covid and very spaced out tables, friendly staff and clean bathrooms, good all round.

Family meal for 6 (2 adults & 4 teens)

Staff were charming & couldn't of been more friendly or helpful.

Really nice meal & good value. I had the Thai vegetable curry which was delicious. They were able to adjust the burgers for our two fussy eaters (sensory & food issues) and the Hunters chicken received rare high praise from the youngest

We dined at the Brendon on Saturday 1st Feb at around 6.15pm. The very nice lady fitted us in, despite it being fully booked. The food and atmosphere were excellent and we were very grateful to find somewhere to accommodate us. The new decor is lovely and the staff were efficient and friendly.

Booked after checking the reviews and it didn't disappoint.
The room was spotless and service was very good. All staff wore masks and Covid rules were adhered to.
A later than usual check in but overall a great stay. Highly recommend it.
It appears to be one of the few places with a beer garden where we could while away the afternoon.

Room Tip: we had the twin room which overlooked the street. It was quiet and comfortable.
