Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here, with our dog, for 5 nights at the end of August 2022. Lovely location just a 5 minute walk to the beach and 10 minutes to the town center. Hotel is a bit dated but is clean and tidy. The rooms are spacious and have a back door. (good for the dog) breakfast was excellent cooked fresh every morning. Will definitely stay again if we go back to Bude.

This is a very pleasant, clean, quiet hotel, with its own car park behind the hotel. The rooms are very comfortable with ensuite and the usual amenities. The breakfasts are excellent with friendly and efficient service in an attractive dining room. The hosts John and Ros are also very friendly and welcoming. The Hotel is in a very good location with an easy walk down to the beach in Bude. I have stayed here several times and hope to stay several more. Highly recommended.

Lovely stay here; fantastic location, tasty food and very friendly too. Great for any keen open water swimmers as near to Bude Sea Pool and the super Bude Tunnel of course! 😂 (look that up on trip advisor!) Great walks and landscape too! There is also a swimming pool which is refreshingly cold...which if you like cold water swimming is a perfect early morning dip before you head out to Bude Sea Pool or the sea! Its not a big pool but was big enough for me to swim in a big circle comfortably. There is a covered drying area for wet costumes/wetsuits and access to a hose for rinsing things out. The Cliff Hotel is only five to ten minutes walk away from the Sea. I particularly liked my breakfast choice of mackerel and mushrooms but there is also a traditional fry up breakfast and Croissants and jam etc for those who don't want a hot breakfast, with the usual cereals etc. Very nice stay and idea for Open water swimming orientated breaks! They could accommodate open water swimming groups, paddle boarders, surfing groups too I'm sure as they have plenty of rooms. Nice to have the option of a meal in the evening too. Would come again!

Was welcomed by Rosalind and John the owners, was shown to our room and told where everything was like the swimming pool, the dining room were breakfast would be served. The food at breakfast was very good cooked breakfast the full English was cooked to perfection every time I had it, there was plenty of other food on offer plus juice’s, tea and coffee. The staff were outstanding nothing was to much for them to make your stay a good one. Close to the beach and coastal path, great for those of us who have our dogs with us. They do evening meals but these must be ordered while you have breakfast. Just down the hill is Rosie’s where you can get a great pizza also try the ice cream. I would recommend this hotel.

Pre arrival we received an email informing us about the Covid restrictions at the hotel and informing us of the guidelines we needed to follow, this was along with pre checking in details. On arriving at the hotel we were greeted by the friendly owners who gave us the information we needed to know about the meal times, the bar, the swimming pool and the other local information that could or would be of use to us during our stay. My room No 8 on the first floor, was a large room with two single beds and a double, it had two comfortable wicker armchairs along with a Tv and refreshments station. It also had a full size bath and a hand held shower hose (plumbed in type, not the rubber push on type). The view from the window was of the vast open space alongside of the property and a bit of the sea. The hotel staff were great, the young ladies that served breakfast were on the ball, polite, friendly and picked up and returned our sense of humour. The choice for breakfast was varied and freshly cooked even with one of our group having special dietary needs, we were served at the same time. The area was quite and just far enough away to be relaxing and close enough to be within walking distance of what you needed. Great hotel, Great staff, well recommended, so much so we are looking at booking the whole hotel next year for a big group weekender.
