Another great stay - we've been visiting Whalesborough for several years now, twice a year. We love the 5* accommodation and all the facilities available, including the indoor swimming pool. Didn't need to take advantage of the gym because of all the walks available with the dogs. One day this visit I managed to walk to Widemouth across the farm, and we also walked into Bude and back along the canal, finishing with a delicious lunch at The Weir Restaurant on site. The dog washing facilities came in handy after our visits to Summerleaze Beach in Bude. Thanks to Sharran and James and all the staff and looking foward to seeing you in April!
Whilst writing this review I would like to point out that I was actually in Reception when 3 people appeared riding bicycles over the lawn, and with several dogs off the lead and running everywhere - presume this is relevant to the NickyDEpsom review. They were told politely but firmly that they were on private property and asked to put their dogs on leads, and directed to the public walk outside of the complex. They seemed extremely put out to be asked to leave, but I was particularly annoyed about their attitude and general demeanour. We pay a not unconsiderable sum to stay at Whalesborough and enjoy all the facilities, and are always considerate to other residents and keep our dogs on their leads until off the complex. There are signs everywhere which indicate where is private and where is public access, but this group chose to ignore the signs and common courtesy went totally out the window! The Whalesborough representative handled the matter with extreme self control - I definitely wouldn't have been so polite!

We've just come to the end of a week long stay and have had a fabulous time at Whalesborough.

We stayed in Nan's house which was very clean and well equipped. Despite the cottages all being occupied, the site was remarkably quiet and we had a real sense of privacy.

The on site facilities are what made the stay. Our 2 year old loved pets corner and the outdoor play area as well as the indoor play barn. We also spent time in the indoor pool and enjoyed feeding the animals and collecting fresh eggs with Farmer Dan.

I felt covid measures were well considered with hand sanitiser dotted around the site and anti viral spray provided.

Such a beautiful place to stay and to explore Cornwall. I think we just found our new annual staycation!!

Excellent location for access to dog friendly beaches by foot and by car. The dog washes are a great idea, given the time of year and helps maintain the 5* interiors of the cottages. We stayed in Beachcombers which is lovely. Kids had a great time in the swimming pool and using the facilities. Last time we came we bought necessities with us but opted to use the local Sainsbury’s and Co-op this time which is only a 5 minute drive away. My only moan is that on arrival it would have been nice to have been welcomed and introduced to the site and the cottage. Due to social distancing measures, I couldn’t get into the reception (as others were taking time to check in), so I was simply handed a key by a passer by! Useful to get service but missing the warm welcome and advice. I’d recommend these cottages to anyone. You won’t be disappointed. We shall return.

This was our second trip to Whaleborough , we travelled in July when things were just opening up. We felt totally safe. Although the indoor Swimming Pool was not open , our Grandkids used the outdoor pool every day. We travelled with three dogs and were in Arundle Cottage. Which was modern , Clean and worthy of 5 stars. The facilities for dogs , is the best we have come across. We walked over the fields , down to the beach and used the Doggy Spa Shed for a wash , clean up and doggy treat before going back in the cottage . They provide Dog Cages and Blankets . We were lucky with the weather , but there is lots to do , with the indoor barn , for Football , Badminton etc. Our Grandkids loved the animal feeding and went every day , collecting eggs . The cottages suit families , couples and ,Grandparents . We ate in the Weir on three occasions and the food was great. James and Sharon and the whole team took every step to comply with the lockdown rules and kept us informed of changes . We would not hesitate to recomend Whaleborough and we have already booked for next year.

My sister and I went to WClub Spa in Bude this week as a treat for her birthday but also for some quality sister time after the passing of our Father recently. We absolutely loved the place. We drove up a long drive, very well maintained and the Spa was located at the top in a very secluded place away from the road. We were then welcome by Nicky who was just ray of sunshine! She showed us around and let us know the detail of our planned day, gave us our very fluffy and soft robes, flip flops and towels. We had chosen the Spa Package 10-3 Swim Spa and Dine with a 45min treatment included. Everything was just perfect, very clean. welcoming, as if it had just opened, from the changing rooms and showers, to the pool and jacuzzi. We enjoyed experiencing the steam room and sauna as it was so quiet, it felt very private.
When the sun came out we used the sun loungers outside and retreated in “The lounge”, a very peaceful room when you could find drinks to make and a tranquil place to rest, leading to an outside hot tub that we very much enjoyed too.
The treatment was a delight as well done by Pip, especially as the whole experience of waiting in a special room before and after with drinks to help yourself to with a peaceful music.
We ended our day at the Weir restaurant down the lane, had scrumptious paninis with a glass of white wine by the lake and thought we’d better write a review of this great place, bearing in mind that I never take the time to write reviews!
Thank you WClub Spa and I will definitely come again soon as I only live down the road!

Thank you Bea & Vanessa for your great 5* review. We are delighted your Swim Spa & Dine Spa Package came at the right time for you both personally, but also sorry to hear about the passing of your Father too. It sounds like your time here together at Whalesborough gave you both the time to relax, reflect and be together whilst enjoying your treatments. I will ensure the staff mentioned know of your great feedback and update the Weir also on your scrumptious paninis. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon and hope Vanessa's return trip from France will mean she visits again too. Thank you for choosing Whalesborough Resort & Spa as the first place you've left a review.....

Just back from a wonderful week staying in Nan's House, the property is between the play area and outdoor swimming pool, but felt very private. Shared between 3 generations of guests for a 50th birthday celebration, arriving and departing at various times throughout the week. Oldest in our group was 79 & the youngest 14.

The facilities and complex were excellent, the staff were lovely and helpful, reported an issue with the main oven not working, someone came and had a look (timer needed setting and magically the main oven worked, not that we intended to do much cooking with all the excellent restaurants and takeaways nearby).

Nan's House has a very lovely feel to it and nice flow throughout the property. Well equipped particularly the kitchen with plenty of crockery/ glassware, cupboard space etc. Bedrooms are well laid out and the beds comfortable. 2 en-suites upstairs (Super king & king rooms) and the remaining 2 twin rooms shared the family bathroom. Downstairs king size bedroom also has it's own en-suite. Showers had a decent water pressure and there was plenty of hot water.

Added bonus of a gate at the bottom of the garden and then another gate straight into the outdoor pool, which was clean & heated and certainly got a lot of use by us & the 4 teens.

Views over the pets corner from the large landing were entrancing and it was lovely to stand and watch the various animals (sheep/ goats/ alpaca's and a wandering/escaping chicken who caused much entertainment over the week every time she came to say hello).

The children's play area was looking a little dated and aimed for younger children (pre teens) but the play barn was excellent for the older ones.

Beach is a good 45 min walk away but there are several different paths to use and is a pleasant walk. Added bonus of parking pass available for the campsite opposite the beach, could easily take a days worth of supplies and the less mobile members of our group, without having to haul all the body boards etc for a day on the shore.

Only downside is Nan's house is already fully booked for summer 2023 as we'd love to return, possibly may have to combine some of the smaller properties if everyone wants to come again.

We were moved to Medlands having originally booked Jacks House due to the building works. This property was classed as an 'upgrade'. The accommodation was very comfortable and well furnished but could do with some maintenance here and there, eg, the bolt on the garden gate was broken and the stair gate was unstable. The former was reported early in our stay but no-one came to fix it. We had to rent a dog crate however when we arrived we found we could have left our dog in the utility room if we went out without him. So this was an added cost we didn't really need. We discovered Whalesborough on a previous trip to Bude when eating at the Weir Bistro and were planning to eat there most evenings. We were in fact given a voucher to use at the bistro but were very disappointed to find it does not open in the evenings. Whilst we were told this was due to staff sickness, previous reviews also state the same so this practice has been in place for months. As there is no alternative for food and drink we had to drive or walk into Bude for food and we really do think this should be reflected on both the Whalesborough and the Weir website. Both to date state that the Weir is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner without restrictions. The footpath to Widemouth Bay was closed due to the building works yet we found if we walked past the tennis court we could access the path and walk over to the beach. As Whalesborough is marketed as a resort we found it was lacking in facilities especially when the on-site bistro closes at 4.30 pm. We have given this a four star review due to the standard of the accommodation but would not give the same rating for the facilities (excluding the Spa).

Thank you for your review, we are so sorry that you were disappointed regarding the Weir opening times. The opening times are correct online https://weir-restaurant-bude.co.uk/opening-hours but we still apologise for any confusion over this when onsite. I have checked the job sheets and the garden bolt was indeed reported and accept that this was not dealt with swiftly enough, I have fed back to the team. We do hope that overall you had a nice stay with us and we do hope you will visit us again soon :-)

My wife, two young children (4 & 2) and our dog stayed here at the end of August for a week in Middle Hill. It's our third time staying at Whalesborough and we have been recommending it to other friends as it is great, especially if you have kids and/or dogs. The old cottages/barns are lovely and the new ones are really nice too. Lots of space in the property and outdoors. Although it was fully booked it didn't feel busy or crowded at all. We met some other families which was nice. The swimming pool is excellent, the kids love it. The location is great with nice walks or bike rides to Bude or Widemouth. The stand out though it Farmer Dan. Great bloke, with a passion for the land, for his animals and for families. Even in these tough times he is still offers a warm, welcoming smile and the kids love him. We collected eggs (and ate them), fed the animals and took several tractor rides to Widemouth bay for a wander or to buy some lovely produce from the fish/farm shop. We ate monkfish fresh from the Atlantic and the Dexter beef steak was lovely. Go. Relax. Have fun with your kids. Walk your dog. Look at the stars. Enjoy the view. Have fun.

We have recently returned from a stay in Sand Parks Cottage on the Whalesborough site.

The cottage is absolutely superb and brilliantly situated within the site. It is equipped and decorated to an extremely high standard with plenty of light airy space downstairs ,a wonderful kitchen and a lovely rear garden with stunning views. Upstairs are 2 lovely bedrooms one with en suite bathroom and a separate shower room.

The site itself is in a stunning location with high end facilities leaving you wanting for nothing.

We would highly recommend both the cottage and the site and if staying in the area again, would have no hesitation in rebooking.

My partner and I spent a few days at whalesborough cottages. We stayed in the calf house and it was very comfortable and very well equipped. We had use of the facilities including pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Although I gave the gym a miss this time it seemed to be very well equipped and clean. For all the dog owners there is a purpose built dog wash and dry room which is perfect after long walk! The staff helped make it such a good experience as they were all friendly, helpful and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.
