Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was dreadful, we should have taken note of the previous reviews. The dining room looked like some time ago they had a themed night. Old silk flowers hung from the ceiling. There were crumbs and bits on the floor on the first day, and they were still there (added to) as we left. The breakfast was nice but they ran out of mushrooms on the last day, and as I only ordered three things this was disappointing. There was dust everywhere, including the hall and stairs. The bedroom was very plain and very old. The sheets were very good quality. There was no water or biscuits in the room at any time, two towels in the bathroom and I do not think at any point during the four nights we were there any staff came into the room, not even to empty the bins. There was a large dead spider in the shower curtain, and about 6-9 inches of mildew on it. I would not go in. Even after negative reviews no changes to improve the Haven had been made. The owner was helpful but totally disinterested in the place. I would be surprised if it is still open next year, we should have asked for a refund, at £110 per night, overpriced.

We stayed one night at the Bude Haven Guest House while hiking the South West Coast Path. It's conveniently located in a quiet part of the town, only about 10 minutes from the next beach. Our room was really homely and tastefully decorated, with large windows bringing in much light. The sanitary facilities were absolutely fine, with only the door separating the bathroom from the proper room being a bit awkward to use. Breakfast was great, with an adequate choice of cereals and the complete range of a Full English. Dinner was unfortuately not available during our stay but the owners directly pointed out various delivery service options as alternatives. Service was also absolutely fine, with the owners being very friendly, courteuous and easygoing. Would definitely book this again.

This is a slightly quirky place run by a delightfully trendy couple who do everything they can to look after you. We had a top room which was very comfortable with a sea view, albeit half a mile away. It is within walking distance of both the sea and the town. Breakfast is full English, or any variation of that, with vegetarian option. It is very good value for money and if in the area would stay there again.

Paul and Lease work very hard looking after their characteristic guest house and their guests. Nothing was too much trouble . We stayed in room 4 for 6 nts we had window bay seating and great views. The room was big spascious and the bed was huge and comfy. It also had a bath and a shower which was good. The breakfast was good and set you up for the day. There was a games area which was nice and a little bar (our room was above it and we never heard any noise .) it is a family ,down to earth friendly and lovely place. The position is perfect ,just out of the town ..only 5 mins walk away to the town and beach . Lovely views, walks and facilities nearby. (Sainsburys, the strand for buses, crazy golf etc...) Plenty of actual parking at this guest house ,if you were stuck plenty of places to park on the kerb all round by the guest house We would stay here again definitely.

Really lovely guest house, decor was quaint and traditional. Comfortable bedroom with TV and coffee machine. Bar and lounge area beautifully decorated with interesting ornaments. Stained glass windows aligning the staircase are pretty. Pool table, dart board, board games available in the lounge. Breakfast was superb! Anything you want you can have from full English, poached eggs on toast, fruit, croissants, you name it they have it. Owners Leasa and Paul were super friendly, nothing was too much trouble, always there if you need them. Leasa cooks eggs perfectly! Conveniently located 5 minutes walk from town centre and beach. I’d recommend the following food establishments nearby: Rosie’s Kitchen, Chicken and Rum on Crooklets Beach. Bocca Burgers bottom of Bude town. We’ve had a lovely 6 night stay here.

We arrived without a reservation and were immediately made to feel welcome and had a room made ready very quickly (depite the fact that the owners were in the middle of a family celebration at the time). The room was spacious and comfortable with a great view. Very convenient for the beach. Fantastic full breakfast.

We stayed here over the Jubilee Weekend for a couple of nights with family. A lovely welcome, we were shown to two very spacious rooms with huge comfortable beds which gave us the best sleep in ages. Our room had a superb view of Bude golf course. A perfect l location just a short stroll to the beach front. Breakfast is cooked to order and rivals top hotels with a full range of cooked items, you even get your own bottle of orange juice. A bar service is available nicely priced. The Bude Haven Hotel is owned by a couple of naturally friendly couple and their family from Essex who bought this just as the pandemic began, we would like to say thanks for having us and we would thoroughly recommend staying. We wish you all the best for the summer season and beyond. Remember to book your evening meal in the town as soon as you can. We would use again when in Bude. Steve and Nic
