We came here for 1 night just ahead of a big Birthday celebration and it was everything I was hoping for and had heard it would be. Comfortable and spacious room, delicious food and a beautiful setting.

First you see the sculptured pig in the gardens and then two large statues of dogs at the entrance greet you. A warm greeting follows from the staff who direct you into an eclectic bar of sofas, glasses, bottles and boar's heads and an extensive menu of drinks. After enjoying a few sips of your drink, you are collected and...

Went with my fiancé for a weekend mountain biking and from the moment we arrived we were treated regally. Quirky country house in the heart of the new forest with a beautiful interior. Our room was on the small side but more than made up for with the decor, food was locally sourced and tasty. All around a great place.

Just back from a brilliant time at The Pig. Great local-sourced food, great young staff, great building in a great location, all boxes ticked. Would have rated five stars but for two things: no draught beer (why on earth not?), a tragedy in an area that produces so much good stuff, and bedrooms that are far too hot. Otherwise, this...

If you're in the New Forest, The Pig is a must-see restaurant. Great location. English classics serves with flare. No stodge. Be warned though: you may find gunshot in some of the game! I can highly recommend.

We had a family lunch at The Pig and everything about it was superb. The restaurant is set in grounds in the New Forest and you could enjoy a walk before or after your meal - unfortunately we didn't have time. Both the lounge (sofas around an open fire) and the restaurant are beautifully arranged. The food itself was perfect....

We enjoyed a lovely weekend stay for a special birthday, amazing breakfasts, beautiful bedroom, and charming friendly staff, altogether a real treat. It was so cosy and extremely comfortable, nothing was too much trouble. whilst the breakfasts were probably amongst the best I've ever had, I found the dinner menu less tempting.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Pig is a bang up to date take on a new style of home grown, 26 bedroom country house hotel and what that needs to be today - original, relaxed and sitting comfortably within its environment. It's really a restaurant with rooms. This is a place that is all about the walled garden and everything is driven by the gardener/forager and chef - they grow and find the food - the chef then makes the menu. The style is home grown in every way - breaking the mold of designed hotels, daring to be comfortable in its own skin, working with what it has and recognising what is good about that. It won't be perfect, it will be warm, relaxed, comfy, interesting, and homely with muted colours, a bit shabby chic and evolved rather than interior designed. ... more   less
