Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa is often celebrated for its spacious rooms with lovely touches and scenic views, although some guests find the room features a bit dated and question the value. The charming atmosphere and personal touches are well-received, but some areas could benefit from more ambiance. The spa's hydrotherapy pool and steam room are highlights, although additional costs and occasional overcrowding are noted.
Service is widely regarded as friendly and attentive, and the hotel's picturesque location is a hit for its proximity to attractions. Despite some concerns about cost, the hotel's cleanliness, especially in the spa, is consistently commended.

Detailed Reviews
I booked Carey’s manor and spa for one night after the Christmas madness as just needed some space and relaxation time. I was not disappointed. Upon arrival the receptionist was so lovely and the valet parked my car. As I was there in the morning for the spa they took my overnight bag to put in my room once ready (room check in was at 3pm, I went to the spa at 10am to make the most of it). They said they would leave my room card in the spa for me.
The spa reception were wonderful too; I was given a towel and waffle robe and I purchased the flip flops as forgot mine. I was given a tour of the pool, jacuzzi, poolside sauna then through to the hydrotherapy area with stand up jacuzzi, massage fountain, metal jacuzzi type beds in the water, ice room, sauna, crystal steam room, laconicum, relaxation room (with teas and drinks) and quiet room. Everything was well looked after and clean, it never felt overcrowded at all. I had lunch in the Thai restaurant and it was delicious; they even made my main not to be spicy (my mouth can’t handle the heat) and were lovely about it. The restaurant manager was very friendly and attentive, filling water cups up regularly.
I asked if my room happened to be ready early and it was so I went to the room which was a lovely garden room, so warm and welcoming. I had a massage which was so lovely and relaxing; I was worried my muscles wouldn’t work after as they felt like butter. I had a lay down in the room afterwards and then ordered room service. The sirloin steak, fries and salad were the best I have had and just what I needed. The ice cream wasn’t the best; had freezer burn and didn’t seem the highest quality compared to everything else about Carey’s manor. I had a lovely nights sleep.
I had ordered breakfast to the room for 9.45-10am but I had to call them about it as it didn’t arrive and the chef had to do it after I called. No big deal and reception gave me extra time to check out because of the delay. The staff are so professional and attentive; there wasn’t anyone I came across who was anything less than.
My only complaint was there weren’t more hours in the day to enjoy it all.
Room check out was at 11am but I was able to use the spa that day too. The reception will even look after your bags if you want.
I am recommending Carey’s Manor and SenSpa to everyone and will be back with my husband next! There is such a wide variety of day spa options too if, like me, you don’t live too far and don’t need to stay overnight every time. They even do a mum spa day within the school hours which I haven’t seen before; what a great idea!!!
If you’re not sure whether to book or not; book it, 100%, you won’t regret it!

We were due to visit in May, but this was cancelled for obvious reasons. As soon as the hotel was open again we made sure we were booked in for another stay.
We have just returned from another wonderful 3 night stay with friends who we met there on a previous visit.
From start to finish all the staff were their usual cheery friendly selfs. There are obvious changes to your stay, now having to wear a mask in all public places, except when eating or drinking in bars and restaurants. There are lots of hand sanitisers all round the hotel for you to use, screens at receptions and staff all wearing masks. Your room will not be cleaned during your stay, but if you need clean towels or extra tea/coffee this can be requested at reception and will very quickly be given to you.
We choose to eat dinner in the French restaurant every night as we were able to sit outside as the weather was so hot to be indoors. Richard the waiter was a joy to be around and I think he appreciated our attempts at French, especially our unusual school day phrases which resulted in the next day having a lovely picture by our table.
All of the food was amazing especially the cream tea on the lawn in front of the hotel. The buffet breakfast is very similar to how it used to be with the only exception is the staff will put on plates for you. Tea, coffee and toast are ordered from your seat and you can also order specials too.
We would meet up in the bar before dinner and Anthony the barman and Michael the Sommelier remembered our drinks straight away and were very knowledgeable on different wine and cocktails.
We are so pleased that we were able to visit again and help our favourite hotel in the se troubled times, we can't wait to come back and visit again.

Our first break since lockdown had to cancel our annual visit in May, been going to this hotel for many years, see other reviews. On booking Reservation very helpful as usual, and a warm welcome on arrival from the Reception and clear guidance given on the new measures for COVID-19 in the hotel, rooms and restaurants with plenty of signs and many of hand sanitiser around the hotel, more details on the web site. We found it very safe around the hotel , restaurants and our room apart from a few guests who did not wear masks when leaving their table during breakfast walking round the room, coming up behind other guests and leaning over the breakfast buffet which was reported to management and reception. We had a very good three days rest and change of environment , breakfast was the same standard and choice as previous visits but now all served by the staff. We always eat in the French Bistro for dinner still the the same quality of food and service as before , but the menu is slightly reduced. All staff were friendly and helpful and gave the right level of service and attention during our stay. We like the new lounge area which shows the need to update the bar area. We always stay in rooms 18,19,20 although clean , they do need some major TLC like the rest of the rooms and corridors in the wing area., we was advised on previous trips these rooms are next on the list.

We stayed 3 nights in an oakwood garden room for an average of £170 per night B&B. This was a good size upstairs room with a full length opening window and good A/C.
I requested a move to a room on the ground floor with direct access to the well kept gardens as the hotel seemed mostly empty. I was puzzled to be told there were no other ground floor rooms available, yet we seldom saw another soul.
The bathroom was a bit small with low water pressure. If you run a bath plan something else to do for the next 10 minutes.
This was our first post lockdown hotel stay and somethings were unexpected, such as no cleaning or replenishment of the bathroom during a 3 night stay. The curtains in the room were water damaged and when we complained were changed during our stay for a less damaged pair, but the bathroom remained unreplenished.
The public areas look ok but dining room seating needs a good clean and there are crumbs where the cushions join.
Restaurant staff were attentive and food was good. Drinks prices were off-putting and having been charged £4.50 +12.5% service charge for a black coffee we took our custom to nearby establishments.
The striking thing about the stay was how quiet and lacking in atmosphere everything was. This may in part be due to social distancing but despite this being a long weekend there were few other guests to be seen.
In contrast we moved on to a similar establishment in Lyndhurst where the hotel was busy, the atmosphere good, the restaurant full and we had an enjoyable time.

Arriving at 3.40pm we booked in (room available from 3pm) & went to the room.
Walking down the corridor the cleaning staff were still working on various rooms. All manner of cleaning equipment, bedding & materials left in the corridors. A health & safety issue in any premises.
The room was not ready. Bedding, towels & cleaning material on the floor of the room, so back to reception.
To the Hotel’s & Manager’s credit we were immediately given complimentary refreshments & a 20% refund on the room price. Great service but unfortunately it did not end there.
A ‘warm’ full English breakfast, which myself & other customers experienced, is not acceptable. Bacon was overcooked, greasy & left warming and ‘cooking’ in a metal tray, with bacon arriving from the kitchen in a similar state. Eggs & other items were of a similar condition. The dishes ordered direct from the kitchen were of much better quality.
Walking to & from breakfast resulted in another obstacle course of cleaning materials, bedding & vacuum cleaners along all the corridors. Checkout not until 11am so this was unnecessary & another accident waiting to happen. Cleaning equipment needed to remain in the store cupboards until needed & then put inside the room being cleaned, to avoid it looking unsightly in hotel corridors that guests are constantly using.
Having stayed at all manner of hotels over the years, the hotel does need to up its game in customer satisfaction to meet the 4 star standard that the prices reflect.

My husband and I visited Careys Manor this weekend for the second time and it did not disappoint, yet again! What an absolute pleasure to stay at such a beautiful place. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the concierge staff and our car was valet parked which was such a relief given Storm Dennis. Every little engagement with all staff there was most certainly 5 star service! I am shocked as to why this hotel is rated a 4 star because it definitely deserves to be at the top of the 5 star list of establishments! The absolute show stopper during our stay was our evening meal at Zen Garden Thai restaurant. We had a tasting menu which was to die for. Each course was so delicious and so authentic. Yet it wasn't even the sublime food that made our evening so amazing. A very special mention must go to Iwona and Presh!! They were our waiter and waitress and they fell nothing short of amazing! I have never experienced customer service like it. They were so attentive, so polite, so professional and so friendly. Iwona was so funny and really made my experience at the restaurant. She made some fantastic drinks suggestions and was very helpful when I told her I had food allergies. She ensured all our needs were catered for as did Presh. We will definitely be visiting Careys Manor again and again!
My husband and I have travelled the world and dine at Michelin star restaurants and the service we received at Zen Garden is most certainly up there with the best. Presh described the origins of every dish as it arrived, which really added to the experience (even some of the Michelin starred restaurants we have visited haven't provided this).

Just returned from a great midweek break at Carey Manor. We booked through secret escapes which meant a discount on our room booking and reduced rates on food and spa treatments throughout our stay, both my partner and I were pleasantly surprised at what we got for our money.
The room was spacious and clean, decorated to true countryside attire and did its job! The luxury however really came from the spa facilities and treatments. We had opted to upgrade to senspa access which was a lovely treat. It included an ice room, hydrotherapy pool, herbal steam room, crystal steam room and relaxation rooms everything was very enjoyable and the staff were very attentive. Only improvement would have been the relaxation room was a little offset from the rest of the facilities but nothing too drastic. We had the lava shell massage and herbal back massage which were both excellent (probably one of the best I’ve had).
In the evening we decided to dine at the Zen Garden Thai restaurant and what can I say WOW! The food was amazing but the service was what made the meal. We opted for a bottle of wine however our waiter Pesh suggested we try a different kind of wine to match our food, he let us try and true to form he was completely right! The wine matched perfectly.
Overall we found our break fantastic. It all felt like a lovely treat and we both left saying we would highly recommend.

A lovely hotel with great facilities. 3 restaurants all of a high standard and z great bar. Zen Spa very nice and well equipped. Why not 5? So there were a couple of things that detracted from our stay for which we were paying a luxury price.
Slippers were supposed to be available in room to allow comfortable movement to spa. Despite repeated requests none appeared.
No instructions on use of in room safe caused a problem that it took 3 requests and 90 minutes to get resolved.
All menu has afternoon tea on it but you can only have it if you book it 24hrs before. Doesn't say that and all day menu would suggest it is available everyday.
Zen Spa is missing a couple if shower heads and tiles in places that you would expect to have been maintained during recent closures and in a venue charging these prices.
Good EV charging available.
Fantastic quiet with ground floor rooms having a very nice outside seating area for 1st coffd of day ad day gets started.

Please accept our apologies that you were without slippers in your room, I will speak with housekeeping to ensure that this is something we are offering to our guests. With regard to the Afternoon Tea menu, thank you for your observations which are so helpful, 24 hours notice is required as all our delicate cakes and sweets are handmade and so our pastry chefs need to time to create them. I will ensure the areas in the spa which you mentioned receive attention from our maintenance team, thank you for highlighting this to me. This was our 4th visit to Carey's Manor to celebrate a birthday, and it won't be our last! Carey's Manor never fails to deliver on comfort, excellent food,( with a choice of 3 restaurants) and the staff are friendly, professional and helpful. The rooms we request are in the newer wing and are overlooking walled gardens which are very peaceful.
The Sen Spa has a variety of treatments,(I had an excellent 5* pedicure from Danni) and there is a good Spa shop selling beauty products that Laura will give helpful advice with. The swimming pool is a good size, and warm...ideal for a pre- breakfast swim that helps to burn off the calories, but also gives you a good appetite for the 'full English' breakfast! The hotel is located in the New Forest National Park, Brockenhurst, with good walks (and the ponies) just across the road.
There is always a happy yet peaceful atmosphere at Carey's Manor, and happy staff mean happy guests.
We book one the better suites as it was our silver wedding anniversary and we wanted something special.
The room looked lovely when we entered, a lounge, bedroom and two bathrooms, all well appointed. As we settled in the wife commented on the dust in the lounge on the mirrors and chair rail, it appeared to have missed a few days dusting, but checking the bedroom this was a even worse, you only had to run a finger along a few inches and you had a ball of dust, this was after being informed on arrival that due to Covid the rooms are cleaned and then only the guest will be allowed in the room’s until departure. At about the same time my wife said the sink is leaking, checking the stone sink bowl it had a crack through it leaking water.
I spoke with the reception and manager who apologised and was surprised, due to Covid he would not come to the room but I requested cleaning materials so I could ensure it was clean for our first night in the room.
The hotel itself lived up to our expectations with its lovely setting and building in the heart of the new forest but close to pubs and restaurants. We had dinner in the hotel the first night and we found a good selection and the food was a very high standard. Breakfast was also a very good quality especially as they were limited around having a buffet due to Covid restriction.
We found the staff all around the hotel to be friendly and helpful at all times.
When leaving the manager asked to meet me due to the problem with the room, and again apologised and deducted some of the room rate. This was a nice gesture but still left us upset as you only get the one silver anniversary and it did sour the stay.

I think they have a well equipped gym so I would imagine so.
Good evening, we have leisure facilities for complimentary use of our guests which includes a 14' pool, steam, sauna and jacuzzi. Our Hydrotherapy area is a chargeable extra and requires booking in advance. We hope to welcome you soon.
Good Morning, I can confirm that we do have one tesla charging point at the hotel and we are in the process of increasing this in the very near future.
Kind Regards
Hi, I'm not sure which room we were actually put in but looking at the photos of the Knightwood room I don't think it was, the actual room you have booked looks lighter, although the ensuite looks exactly the same as ours. Yes I felt ours definitely needed updating, it looked like the added on bit we were in was straight out of the 80s .... I was excited after seeing the main part of the building which presents beautifully, that I mistakenly thought the rest of the hotel was the same .
No the hotel is not geared up for children
