Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great accommodation for our week. Everything you would need for a family holiday. Fantastic for our dog who had a great time just like us. Some great walks. Hosts were very helpful. Highly recommended.

Town Head Farm Cottages are a great place to stay. Steve and Debbie are wonderfully welcoming hosts and make you feel right at home. We stayed in the 6 person Orchard View Cottage but all the accommodation has been completed to a very high standard. The barn conversion has been very sympathetically done leaving a cottage which is modern and spotlessly clean but retains a rustic and homely feel. I don't have a photo to share but it looks identical to the photos on the website. The beds and bedding are clean and comfortable. The local cockerel might occasionally make himself known in the morning but it all adds to the country charm!

The location is great as Great Asby is a perfectly peaceful and picturesque little village but in close proximity to everything you'd need (only 20 mins from the M6). The towns of Appleby and Orton offer galleries, shops and cafes and there are plenty of walks nearby including the nature reserve (a car is essential for getting around.) This was our third visit and we wouldn't hestitate to go back.

We’ve just stayed at Turnip Cottage for a long weekend as a couple with our Whippet and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage itself was very well equipped, spotlessly clean & had lots of well thought out space.

The location is so peaceful you feel you can properly relax! Great walks straight from the doorstep yet only 45-50 minutes from The Lakes.

The local pub ‘The Three Greyhounds’ is very dog friendly & well worth a visit.

Steve & Debbie were the perfect hosts at Turnip Cottage & we hope to stay again in the future.

Lovely cottage in a rural village, quiet area - just what we needed!
The cottage was well appointed and had everything you could need for a self catering break. Travelled with our dog who enjoyed running about in the orchard and we managed to tire him out with long walks in the countryside.
Looking forward to coming back again in the near future.

We did 4 nights here & stayed in Turnip Cottage. There was me, my husband our 6 month old baby and our dog!! So close, yet so far from day to day life! Set in a lovely quiet & quaint village yet close enough to drive into Appleby when you need to nip the shop!
Pub & children's park in walking distance.
Will definetly be back.

We stayed here on a family holiday, orchard view barn was lovely! Very clean and even better than the photos look. The owner was informative of places to go with the dogs and things to do. We had a great time here and in the surrounding area, would definitely recommend Town Head Farm Cottages as a great place to stay.

Amazing location, extremely quiet and perfect for a quiet and relaxing getaway. Dog friendly, although beware the surrounding sheep and village goats. A few walks in the village, but also quite accessible to lots more nearby. Beautifully decorated cottages with everything you need for self catering, and a lovely freestanding bath!

we stayed at steve & debbies converted barn for 5 days and we couldn't fault it. steve welcomed us and gave us a rundown on some things to go & see around the lakes. the barn itself is very well done, excellent facilities and it was a real shame to come home. baxter the beagle had a love/hate relationship with the chickens but was fascinated with the sheep! we've already decided to return next year

So happy my partner and I decided to come here for a quiet weekend away. The cottage was spotless! It was so cosy! We were only there for two nights, but it felt like our home! We would of stayed for weeks! Great Asby is just such a great place to visit! You feel so secluded, and miles away from it all! But in reality you are only 15 minutes drive from Appleby! Barely saw another car in the little village! It was so quiet! Slept like a baby! The bed was exceptionally comfortable! The bath was divine! Really added that special touch! There are chickens in the grounds of the cottage, they are so friendly! They just run right up to you! Added to the whole experience! Steve, the host, was extremely accommodating! He was extremely friendly and offered loads of tips and advice on where to walk etc! Will most definitely be back!

We went to Turnip House for the weekend! It was very clean and well equipped!Really nice place with a bath in the bedroom which was great!we didnt get a welcome from the owners which i found very strange as everywhere else i have been the owners have asked if everything was ok and given advice on the area.
Did not sleep well at all due to the farm animals next door which you kind of expect staying in the countryside but saying that the sounk proofing in the cottage could be better!
