I spent 5 nights in Woodend with the gf, it was a beautiful cottage in a stunning area. Gorgeous pine forests right on the doorstep and venture a little further for a day of walking without seeing another sole. Looking forward to returning in the future. Lovely to return in an evening and get the wood fire going to warm back up after a wet day on the hills.
We stayed at Rowan cottage and it was so peaceful and relaxing. Our wee dog had a lovely break too and enjoyed all the lovely walks in the surrounding area. Cottage had everything we needed and was brilliant to get away from the city for some peace and quiet.
So if you , like us, love a unique home stay then you’ll be delighted with the triumph that is the Tower O’Ess. From top to bottom this Gatehouse Tower which sits at the entrance to the picturesque Glen Tanar Estate has not only been lovingly restored but it’s been reimagined into a luxury rental property for couples (and their four legged friends). It sits over four floors connected by a central spiral staircase . The property has been carefully and considerately renovated and there’s a real sense of livable luxury throughout. The interior has a curated feel with a beautiful colour palette that is carried throughout the Tower. On the top floor the bedroom is spacious and welcoming with bed that is one of the comfiest we’ve slept in. Nothing is missed from this room and small things like proper hangers, ample storage, full length mirror and decadent bedding make the room at the top somewhere worth climbing up to for a great nights sleep. On the next level is the huge bathroom with roll top bath, his and hers sinks and rainfall shower. It’s simply stunning. The floor tiles , roman blinds and wall tiles are decorative features which I adored and the separate washroom means you can bathe or shower in private without having to worry about others using the toilet! Ground floor is the main entrance and living space which has an eclectic and quirky feel with a wonderful log burning-fire as a feature and some stunning art. It’s a comfortable space to retreat to in the evenings before heading up to bed. The lower ground floor is truly luxurious and houses the kitchen and dining space and leads out to the terrace. This is where we spent most of our time as the landscaped gardens and outdoor space are so well connected to the kitchen/diner. There was absolutely nothing we needed during three night stay that was not provided . The Tower is a true triumph from top to bottom and offers a luxury break that you’ll be certain to remember . Well done to all involved with the creation of this holiday home, we shall return.…
This is an absolutely beautiful cottage, and so dog friendly with the compound off the bedroom. They had everything that you need, hairdryer, iron, all we had to bring was ourselves and the dog. Well off road and so quiet and relaxing. Definitely returning here soon if we can find a free few days. Highly recommended.
Brilliant estate, lovely cottages and extremely helpful and accommodating staff. I have stayed in two of the properties this year and if I had a negative comment then it would be that one of the cottages I stayed in didn't have double glazing and the bedroom was a little cold. However that said I would still stay there.
