Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our 2 nights at this stunningly beautiful B&B was by far the most wonderful time in Scotland. The warmest hosts, excellent rooms, and the whole place is a dream! Thank you for a wonderful time - we will for sure come back!

Too class accommodation Everything in regards to staying in Lys-Na-Greyne for a three day break was brilliant -the warm welcome from both Gary and Joyce on arrival, coffee and cake served in the lounge in front of a log fire each afternoon, the platters we had on our first night and the excellent breakfasts served each morning with great views out into the beautiful surrounding scenery. We hadn't visited Aboyne before and found it a great place to stay in and explore. We booked the nearby Boat Inn for an evening meal on two nights and would recommend it. The room we stayed in was beautiful, as was the rest of the house. It could perhaps be described as a Manor House or Country House to give people an idea of just how grand a place Lys-Na-Greyne is. We would have no hesitation in recommending it highly to anyone.

Joyce and Garry are amazing hosts. Breakfast options are abundant and made fresh to your liking. Make sure you ask for Garry's award winning marmalade. Options are available to have supper there as well. The rooms are large, beds are comfortable and the very well appointed. Impeccably clean throughout the home. Highly recommend this property.

This luxury BnB is really a stay in a fine country house. Delightful rooms with very comfortable beds. Fantastic views across the valley and Red Squirrels in the garden. Breakfast is delicious with plenty of choice and the owners are extremely helpful. Aberdeen airport is 40 minutes away - very convenient.

This is a 5 star B and B in a beautiful location which is perfect in every way. A gorgeous Edwardian house, large bedrooms and bathrooms which are well presented and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are superb and served in a room overlooking the River Dee, forests and mountains. The vert best accommodation with excellent hosts in Joyce and Garry

The place is amazing. It is like living in a castle. The house is located near a river . A lot of hiking opportunities. It is less than one hour driving from Aberdeen. Very big room. Stylist, big bedroom , huge bathroom . The breakfast is excellent with a lot of choices. The host Joyce, is doing everything to make you happy . Definitely we will come back .

The on-line pictures speak for themselves and the quality of furnishings exceeded our expectations. The relaxed luxury is achieved by the wonderful location, meticulous housekeeping, fantastic home-made food and surprise treats. However, it is the wonderful experience of staying at Lys-Na-Greyne which marks it out as special. This was entirely due to Joyce and Garry - they were warmly welcoming, kind, thoughtful, entertaining, attentive to our needs and interested in us as guests. Everything they did came from wanting each guest to feel special and we certainly did. We were delighted to have stayed at Lys-Na-Greyne for four nights and would love to return.

I booked Lys Na Greyne based on its excellent trip advisor reviews and it did not disappoint. The B&B is absolutely stunning and set in the most amazing location with views down the valley as far as the eye can see. Upon arrival we were met by Garry who gave us a quick tour of the property before showing us our room. We stayed in room 3 which we had set up in a twin configuration. The room was huge and had lovely views down to the river. The room featured a comfortable seating area, tv, large chest of drawers, dressing table and tea and coffee making facilities with a great choice of teas. The bathroom was stunning with a roll top bath, two sinks and a lovely walk-in shower with both rainfall shower head and a hand held shower head. The toiletries supplied were from Arran and smelt divine. The breakfast at Lys Na Greyne is the best breakfast I have ever had in a B&B, with a full Scottish on offer, along with porridge, cereal fruit and toast amongst other things. We left breakfast everyday feeling full and ready for a full day sightseeing. In the afternoon Joyce and Garry offer coffee and cake, and there is a full honesty bar for those wanting something stronger. Joyce and Garry are the perfect hosts, they are very friendly without being overbearing , full of great advice for sights to see in the local area and always greeted us upon return back to the B&B with the offer of cake, even at 10pm. Lys Na Greyne lives up to the excellent reviews on Trip advisor and I would highly recommend anyone visiting this area to stay here.

Our 3rd stay! We just so look forward to it each year. Luxurious bathrooms. Everything is so relaxing, it seems that nothing is too much bother for Joyce and Garry who do their very best to ensure that you'll want to stay again. Great views across open fields towards the hills; if you're lucky, you will see deer at the right time of day. Binoculars available if needed. Need local recommendations for eating out or local attractions? Joyce and Garry will be only too happy to oblige. (Last year we attended the Aboyne Highland Games; this year we booked for the Lonach Highland Gathering on Joyce's suggestion and King Charles was there too!) Beautiful walks to be had along the banks of the River Dee. Fancy a light(ish) evening meal - their platters of local produce are to die for as are the breakfasts on offer. Chill out with tea and cake or an alcoholic drink in the large and comfortable lounge and if you are a pianist - there's even a piano provided. Wonderful hosts with a wonderful house and gardens. Tips for eating out and places to visit.. All of these have great food served by friendly staff... The Boat Inn - local pub and restaurant serving quality food and Sunday Roasts. Nurtaj Indian Restaurant - many original dishes as well as the usual favourites. Consistently good. Aboyne Fish & Chips - does what it says on the tin! Black Faced Sheep Coffee Shop and Emporium - good mix of traditional fare and cakes; you may wish to buy something from the emporium too. Spider on a Bicycle - teas, coffees, snacks. Aboyne or other nearby Highland Games or Gatherings. Aboyne Victory Hall World Horse Welfare at Belwade Farm All of these can be found on on Trip Advisor
