Following the cancellation of a planned foreign trip we were lucky to get a room at this hotel when other guests had to cancel. Unfortunately it was not one of the front facing rooms that other reviewers have written so glowingly about. We were in a rear facing room so no real view to speak of but that did not detract from our stay.
The position of this room only hotel could not be better. It is across the road from the expansive sandy beach which has all the benefits of a traditional British seaside town. The town centre with all its shops are a short walk away as is the harbour which has plenty of watering holes to watch the world go by.
The hotel rooms are clean, comfortable and functional with wall mounted TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. The hotel provides cereal and milk along with the required cutlery and crockery to allow guests to have a small breakfast in their room. If a more hearty breakfast is required there are sufficient places nearby that do the full English option.
The hosts Paddy and Bernie are very engaging and clearly want their guests to enjoy their stay. The front sitting room with its bay window was the perfect spot to end the evening and do a bit of people watching whilst having a glass of wine. The hosts are happy for you to provide your own drinks as such.
Another plus with this hotel is the use of their own free car park which is a 5 minute walk along the sea front.
Restaurants are plentiful with many serving quality food. Amongst the ones we tried our favourites were The Crustation and Rockfish (both covered in separate reviews). If you are prepared to travel around 3 miles The Crab Café is definitely worth a visit (again see separate review for that).
Many establishments are taking advantage of the increase in the amount of people having a ‘staycation’ and are charging inflated prices. To the credit of Paddy and Bernie they remain loyal to their many returning customers and charge a very reasonable price for a prime location hotel. Would I recommend a stay at this hotel....absolutely. If however you have mobility issues you might struggle with the stairs particularly if it was to access one of the upper floor rooms.

We were so lucky to find this great little place and even luckier to get a room; they are mostly full a year in advance but it is worth checking their website as they advertise cancellations, which was how we got a last minute room in July. We had room 1, which is on the ground floor, so very accessible, beside the reception area and the guest lounge which overlooks the esplanade, a great spot for a pre or post dinner drink. There isn't a bar or restaurant on site but they are happy for you to bring your own drinks and there is a very quiet fridge in the room. There are three outstanding things about the Bay View; excellent standard of cleanliness in the room, the best location in Weymouth; across the road from the beach, minutes walk to the harbour/quay area where there are dozens of bars and restaurants and thirdly, the hosts, Paddy and Bernie, who are very friendly and helpful and go that "extra mile" to make their guests feel welcome. We certainly hope we will be lucky again in the future to make a return trip. For anyone driving, the private parking is a also a real bonus.

The location for this place cannot be beaten - literally a minute or less to seafront, shops, loads of restaurants, Pavillion and 4 mins walk to harbour. Paddy and Bernie are the perfect hosts - friendly, relaxed and very accommodating to any needs. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned daily and a small fridge is kept stocked with fresh milk. Meals are not provided which allows for total flexibility for guests, (though cornflakes, tea and coffee are provided in the room). Room 9 (ours) is on the top floor which has 48 stairs to get up so you need to be fit (and we got fitter during our stay!) but though the room is quite small, it has the bonus of a small balcony to sit out and enjoy the view, read, people watch, whatever, without the crowds. Also great for seeing the fireworks over the bay and listening to the various bands they had on the beach. Added bonus for this hotel is the free secure parking area - a locked area about 150yds away. Your own key means you can come and go without having to fret about getting a space on your return, and paying a fortune for the privilege (you can park outside the hotel to load and unload luggage). This is a great hotel for people who want to be flexible with their time and meals and want to be close to all main areas. Very recommended.

We stayed at the Bay View hotel for a week at the end of June. Our room was spacious, clean and tidy and had a nice en suite. Apart from Sunday our room was cleaned every day with tea, coffee, milk and cereals replenished as and when required. The hotel was the perfect location for the beach, harbour and town center shops. Paddy and Bernie were always on hand if anything was required, were very friendly to talk to and were the perfect hosts.

We were extremely lucky to get a cancellation slot at the Bay View. The location is perfect for us on the Esplanade, there is free secure parking a short walk away and the accommodation is spotless. Free wifi that worked well. They don't offer breakfast but they do give you fresh milk (a real bonus) and cornflakes and there are plenty of places nearby if you want more. Best of all Paddy and Bernie are just the best hosts. Look forward to going back for another stay.

Very friendly owners and staff , great location and spotlessly clean and comfortable . We booked this little gem after another hotel a few doors down canceled our holiday , I contacted the owners via phone and spoke to paddy who squeezed us in for 3 nights , we stayed in room 9 sea view with small balcony and bench seat . We really enjoyed sitting out every evening watching the bay and enjoying the lights and fireworks on Monday @21-30 that was a nice bonus ..
The room was light and fresh very clean and nice tv mounted on the wall with tea and coffee cereal and 2 pints of milk in the fridge (very silent fridge) and hair dryer . The room also had 2 chairs and small ensuite with clean white linen towels . The water pressure is very low so showering will take a while longer than normal , this is simply down to being on the very top floor level but not a major issue and the water is lovely and hot if you want a hot shower .
Being on the very top floor also comes with 6 sets of stairs to climb to get to your room , not an issue if your are able and fairly fit but could be a problem if you have any mobility issues . We found the stairs ok and really enjoyed the fantastic views from our room we are both 50+ , you won't be disappointed with the view ....
When you book this hotel you also get a free parking space in a secure area with some garage space availability, it is about an 8 minute walk if you take the quick route . We left our car parked up for the entire stay and enjoyed not having to worry about the car or paying for parking . Parking is a major issue at the moment with so many people staying at home so this is a real gem to have staying at this hotel .
Paddy and Bernie are really lovely hosts and we would definitely stay here again in the future , very well priced compared to most B&B's and excellent value for money .

We have just had another great week at the Bay View Hotel.
Bernie and Paddy are great hosts even in these unusual times, great size rooms at the front with excellent sea views over the bay, everything you need in the room with tea coffee and fresh milk in the small fridge and you can sit in the large bay window watching the world go past.
You’re very close to the Town a couple minutes walk, sea front with great sandy bay, theatre 5 minutes away when they can reopen.
Excellent value for money, already booked for next year.

Room 7 was perfect! I loved the view from my room and spent quite a bit of time relaxing on the very comfortable chair watching the world go by. It was very peaceful.
My three non-negotiable’s are having a very clean room, good water pressure in the shower and constant hot water.
All three were met! Thank you Marcella for how clean the room was.
The location of the hotel was great too. Bernie and Paddy were also very sweet, and allowed me to have a late checkout as my coach was not leaving until later in the afternoon.
There is also a little fridge in the room that was useful and the room had the facilities to make tea and coffee.
I would definitely recommend room 7 to others and if I was to return to Weymouth I would book the same room again!

Yet another great stay at Bay View. Paddy & Bernie are excellent hosts, making you welcome. Rooms, clean & comfortable with front rooms having excellent view of beach & esplanade. Large bay windows - great for people watching and room 9 top floor, has small balcony to give fantastic birds eye view - but you need to be fit as 4th floor and no lift. Worth it to sit out and watch the sunrise over the sea though. The location is perfect at sandy end of the beach - access to harbour, pier, seafront, restaurants and shops in minutes. Great also to have secure parking. Booked again for next year!

We had a fabulous stay at the Bayview Hotel in Weymouth from 2nd to 9th July 2022.
The hosts Bernie and Paddy are extremely friendly and make you feel so welcome from the moment you arrive. Nothing is too much trouble and you instantly feel very settled.
We stayed in room 10 which was at the top floor, a fair trek up the stairs but the view from the bay window made it well worth it. Beautiful view of the Weymouth bay, in fact if you book one of the sea view rooms you will probably end up spending a lot of your time staying inside relaxing, watching the world go by in the comfortable chairs located at the bay windows. It’s so very relaxing.
If you are planning to stay in Weymouth you must check this hotel out you won’t be disappointed. The hotel is clean friendly and located perfectly for all local restaurants etc, all are only a short walk away. Secure parking is also provided, free of charge.
The hotel gives you instant access to the seafront and the town centre and the wonderful harbour is only a few minutes’ walk away. You will also be able to see the sunrise across the beach each morning.
The Bay View Hotel and Bernie and Paddy are a real credit to the hospitality industry and we wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else when in Weymouth. Already re- booked and we can’t wait to come back in 2023. Bay View is Simply The Best.
Paul and Christine Stamford UK.
