We are an independent, family-run hotel renowned for excellent hospitality and quality products. Our location is on The Esplanade so perfect for the sandy beach and the town centre that is behind the hotel. We offer the option of Continental Breakfast between 8am and 10am which includes award-winning breads, fresh juices, pastries baked every morning, yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruit and accompanied with Barista Coffee or Dorset Tea. There are many attractions along the Jurassic Coast easily accessible from Weymouth so The Alexandra is a great place to base yourself. We also have parking permits for Zone F close to the hotel for on-street parking for free. Both the car park and permits are subject to availability. There is a large Council-run car park called The Pavilion that is free between 6pm and 8am and is very close to the Alexandra. We have recently opened Postcards Cafe Bar where you can enjoy your favourite drink or enjoy Barista Coffee with cake and sit out on our sea-facing terrace.

My seafront room was light and airy, well furnished and clean taking into account the current restrictions, the facilities were excellent including WiFi. This independent hotel's customer service was second to none, they were very accommodating with my wishes which enabled a late check out. I was also given a parking permit allowing me to park at no additional cost and the room was reasonably priced. I have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation. Take into account that no food is currently served but they are very happy to supply tea/coffee etc on an individual basis due to the present restrictions.

Flawless service from the reception. The room was eclectic, a mix of old and new, but everything was clean and functional :) The walls are letting through noise but everyone seemed to be noise cautious. We had a great stay, mainly due to the amazing staff and the exceptional location. Parking was easy although we've been at the busiest period.

We loved this hotel! We stayed for 2 nights with our 2 daughters in the family room with sea view, The room was clean bright and best of all it was WARM (weather was horrendous). The check in was 4pm but luckily our room was ready early and were able to check in at no extra cost. The location is very good, all the shops just minutes walk away and obviously the sea is just across the road. Even though it’s almost on the sea front and the amusement arcade is right out outside it is tucked away so traffic and the arcade noise didnt affect our stay, it was very quiet. The Alexandra is a beautiful old building undergoing renovations but this did NOT affect our stay in anyway at all. Our girls (10 and 7yrs old) really liked it here, mainly because there is a selection of board games and puzzles for the kids in the bar that they were allowed to take up to the room which was perfect for keeping them entertained on the very cold evenings. The staff (I believe Steve Is the owner) were friendly warm and welcoming, always there to hand if we needed anything and I believe they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We will definitely be coming back!

We were so lucky to find this place, and that they had availability as we arrived with no booking after having issues with an airbnb host in a yurt we had been staying at in Dorset!
The guy who checked us in was so, so lovely! Friendly, professional, welcoming. Could not fault him at all. The location is fantastic! Managed to get parked out on the square (and used their permit so was free to park) we could walk across to the beach, the arcades and rides opposite, all of which our little boy loved! The town is also walkable and lovely, lots of choice of restaurants and another lovely walk by the canal. The sealife centre is further up the road, still walkable but further than everything else. Due to covid there was no breakfast but the bar was open so my husband had a drink and chatted to the guy who checked us in (sorry I can't remember his name but he's the guy in another reviewers photo!). The bar / check in area and room we're all clean. Sanitiser right by the entrance door and was asked to use it on arrival, reassuring with covid! The beds were comfortable, the room was a good size, plenty of storage and things to make tea/coffee in the room. The room wasn't modern looking, but nothing in there was dirty or tired as you may assume from a less modern decor appearance. My only improvement would be thicker curtains as I woke early, but it didn't wake my husband or son. The lady who checked us out was also really lovely. She let us hold onto the parking permit as we weren't leaving straight away which she didn't need to do but was much appreciated. Would definitely be back and for longer next time.

The location was perfect, as was the airy, welcoming reception. Grace was so accomodating with our bags, letting us know when our room was ready & generally making us feel immediately at home.
The room was spotless, carpet luxioursly deep to sooth our tired feet & the shower was powerful & consistent heat.
The bar area & outside area was clean, welcoming & stocking local produce.

My wife and I stayed at the Alexandra Hotel on Easter Monday evening, a last minute decision to go away for a night. I felt I needed to give a shout out for this hotel. It is quite simply lovely. The room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well presented. Little extras such as bottled water, toiletries and plenty of tea, coffee etc in the room. Lovely crisp freshly laundered sheets and big, fluffy towels. The continental breakfast on offer was well worth the additional cost-very reasonable- and was made up of some amazing quality locally sourced ingredients such as Dorset honey and preserves. The lady who greeted us on arrival was so friendly and helpful and personally showed us to our room. The young lady serving in the breakfast room was also so friendly, polite and helpful. What an amazing team!! Well done!
The hotel location is fantastic just seconds from the seafront and parking was included with no issues.
Would we stay again? ABSOLUTELY 100% YES

We found this hotel by chance when our Havens break was cancelled early due to lockdown, and even though we could only stay for 2 nights, it was just perfect. Hotel is literally opposite the beach and the fun arcade and right round the corner from the harbour - a perfect location with free parking right by the front doors. Hotel manager was so kind and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasure chatting to him over a g&t in the bar downstairs. Room was nice and spacious, with a fab shower, super comfy beds and lovely views. We loved our stay and will definately be back! Thank you 😊

We stayed here for 2 nights with our 6 year old grandson at the end of August and had a wonderful time. Our room was a little unfinished and dated in places (wardrobes were old and some patching is needed on the walls) but we couldn't fault the cleanliness. The room was clean, the bathroom, with lovely large shower, was great and the beds and pillows very comfortable. Breakfast is continental with a good range of cereal, toast and pastries with juice, coffee and tea. The hotel is located on the sea front, opposite the fair and arcades which my grandson loved. We especially liked the large box of buckets and spades, windbreaks and beach chairs which were free for residents to use - we just popped everything back in once we'd finished. The hotel is licenced and there is a lovely bar area outside, perfect for that last drink of the night before bed! You can also order pizza but we preferred to try one of the many cafes and restaurants that are on the doorstep. The staff couldn't do enough for us and the young girl on reception was an absolute gem. The only thing I would say (and it's not the fault of the hotel) is that parking in Weymouth is almost impossible. The hotel provide a parking permit for some of the roads alongside it, but we were unable to find anywhere close by (we thought we had but received a parking ticket). I would definitely recommend this hotel to families and wouldn't hesitate to book again next year.
