We have just enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay at Gloucester House. Karen and Jonathan are exceptional hosts, Karen was kind enough to meet us as we arrived earlier than predicted and provided a free parking permit for on street parking, then showed us the tasteful guest lounge with complimentary homemade fruitcake and a fridge for fresh milk and bottles of water and finally our guest room which was a triple room with sea view, comfy king size bed with additional settee and well appointed en-suite shower room. The choice of breakfast buffet and cooked options was outstanding, tasty and well presented. We found the location ideal, on the esplanade overlooking the beach with a short walk into town and only a 10 minute walk to the harbour. Our hosts had great recommendations of places to eat, drink and visit. An excellent choice!

On arrival at Gloucester House, we were made to feel very welcome by Jonathan and Karen. The public areas were made to feel very covid-safe and our room was spotlessly clean. As well as comfy beds, biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate were supplied in the room.

There is an extensive breakfast menu, including Eggs Benedict, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, and a full Dorset breakfast, all of which is delicious. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us.

The location of Gloucester House is ideal - a short walk from Weymouth town centre and the beautiful harbour, home to many pubs, unique shops and restaurants, and it is right on the sea front, with some rooms having a sea view and balcony.

I will definitely be coming back to Gloucester House, as you will not find better hosts, views, or cosy rooms.

Thank you for a delightful stay!

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Karen who gave very clear instructions about parking and provided us with a permit to park for free on roads nearby. We were lucky to find a space where we left the car for the duration.
We were shown to our room which was located on the first floor, with a small balcony overlooking the sea front. (Karen insisted on carrying in our bags!)
The room was beautifully done out and was very clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable and all the furnishings and linen etc. were excellent quality with oodles of cushions.
The breakfast was excellent with lots of choices and there was plenty of it.
We went for walks along the sea front and watched the people and dogs on the beach, and the ships in the bay, and when we returned, also from our window. All very restful and relaxing.
The road in front of the building is very busy and gets backed up by the traffic lights there, but we didn't let this spoil our break.
The heating was a bit odd in that I don't think the thermostatic valves work, so controlling the temperature in the room was difficult. Having said that the heating did come on at times and we did remain warm and cosy. Just a matter of cracking the window if it got a bit too warm.
The decoration is really nicely done but there are several small areas around plumbing, skirtings etc. that need finishing off / filling in.
We had a great time and the items mentioned did not adversely affect our stay.
The lounge is beautiful, light, airy and large with wonderful furniture, (and oodles of cushions).
In the lounge is a fridge that has small bottles of fresh milk and bottles of water for residents use. Also there is always slices of lovely fresh fruit cake if you fancy a snack. (Marvelous).
There was a kettle in our room with a tray of coffee and teas as well as some nice biscuits. (You have to get the water from the fridge in the lounge to fill the kettle so a few small journeys up and down is required if you are beverage drinkers like us). We did feel a bit guilty when we were taking the last bottle of water but magically there always seemed to be at least one bottle available. Amazing!
Jonathan, Karen and Jayden were wonderful and we had lovely chats at breakfast. Thank you.

Dear GeneralGripes2018, Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to post your detailed review of Gloucester House, following your recent stay with us. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and thanks for your generous feedback. We weren't aware of an issue with your thermostatic radiator valve at the time of your stay, and I have now checked this and when the heating is on, it controls the temperature of the radiator as you turn it up or down, so unable to replicate the difficulties you found. We are also, slightly confused why you didn't fill your kettle from the sink tap, in the room, which is potable, rather than using the additional chilled water bottles in the Fridge, which would have been effortless for you. We have just finished a major refurbishment of the whole property and will continue to update and enhance all areas and details. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Best regards, Jonathan and Karen

I had a short (1 night) stay here and it was absolutely excellent. I arrived on my motorcycle and owner Jonathan went out of his way to make sure I could keep it securely locked away behind shutters in their courtyard at the rear of the hotel. This gave me great piece of mind as it's a new and expensive bike which I didn't want to leave on the esplanade at the front. My modest single room was clean, comfortable and quiet and I got a good night's rest - my only minor criticism would be that it could do with a walk in shower rather than a bath. That said, I understand that most of the bigger rooms have showers. The full English breakfast was included in the price and was delicious and served by really friendly, courteous staff. All in all, a great guesthouse and I would heartily recommend it (especially for motorcyclists !) Thanks again for your help Jonathan !

We're just back from an amazing few days in Weymouth! We arrived Friday and were immediately warmly greeted by the owners Jonathon and Karen both of whom took time to introduce us to both the premises and "Things To Do" in the surrounding area. Throughout our stay, both were regularly on hand to provide any support needed and were backed up by an excellent group of staff, all of whom were very attentive and were meticulously focused on providing and excellent and efficient service. Breakfast was amongst the best I have tasted and was varied to cater for all different tastes, Gluten free options were included and the mixed berries added that additional layer of quality. The premises was spotless and located facing the sea, which allowed for an excellent view particularly when the Sun shone in the mornings. As with everyone in the service industry, COVID has created disruption however there was a real focus on cleanliness with a sanitiser available at the entrance when arriving and leaving the premises. Parking the car was very simple and there were always spaces in the closest car park around the back of the premises. I would highly recommend Gloucester House for anyone going to Weymouth and hope very much there is a availability next time we travel over! Thank you Jonathon, Karen and all the staff for a very pleasurable stay.

We had a fantastic stay at Gloucester House. There are so many positives, and no negatives at all, so if you’re looking to stay in Weymouth, don’t hesitate to book here.
First, this doesn’t feel like a b&b. It feels like a high quality boutique hotel. The decor is modern and stylish, and the rooms have everything you’ll need. The whole place is exceptionally clean and they have dealt well with the current COVID requirements. The room was quiet which is great as my son is a light sleeper. We had a quadruple, and it had a giant super king and two singles, all very comfortable.
The owners and the staff at breakfast are extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Everyone we met there went out of their way to make sure we were having a great time, without being intrusive at all.
The breakfast is delicious. The menu is varied and very tasty! My son loved his sausage sandwiches and my husband had a full Dorset breakfast every morning. We’ve just returned from the Fairmont in Boston and my mum said that the breakfast here was so much better than the $30 eggs benedict that she had there - huge praise to the quality here.
The location is wonderful, as the beach is on the doorstep, and we were given a parking pass which meant that we were able to park right outside. A 2 minute walk to the beach, which was clean with shallow water going far out (which meant that my son was safe) and had perfect sand for building sand castles and forts!
Town is a 3-5 minute safe walk, and has plenty of bars restaurants and pubs, with shops that you’d expect to see in a small town like jd sports, debenhams, M&S, game etc. Plenty to wonder round if it rained.
I can’t recommend Gloucester House enough. It’s the first place that we’ve made plans to come back to. And it got a big thumbs up from our 9 year old too!

I stayed here last week and despite my reservations with regards to staying in a hotel during this social-distancing era, I felt at ease as soon as I got here. The owners were friendly, welcoming, incredibly helpful with anything we needed, and, importantly, they had implemented extra precautions such as making sure that hand sanitizer was provided throughout the hotel and that we were always seated at the same table in the dining area.
That brings me to the breakfast which not only offered a full array of choices to satisfy all types of "something-tarians", but was also very tasty.
I'd definitely recommend picking this place with its excellent location, modern decor, cleanliness and lovely service.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel valued, and welcome. A very good first impression from the owner, full of local information and couldn't do enough for us. We left our suitcases and went for a cool drink in the town, when we returned our cases were in our rooms ready for us.

I had a balcony room, and the view on entering was stunning, and definitely started the stay well, binoculars were provided, so we were able to sip prosecco in the sun and look at the cruise liners docked. All the soft furnishings were of a very high standard, we could not fault the room or shared lounge.

Every precaution was taken to ensure our safety, but we were pleased the whole experience was not spoilt by COVID-19 restrictions, and our stay was safe, but throughly enjoyable, from the luxe quality bedlinen and Clarins toiletries, to the timed breakfast slot, so we were safely spaced out, and the Dorset breakfast was beyond delicious!

The hotel location is perfect - opposite the jubilee clock tower right on the seafront, beach, shops, café's and bars were a step away.

Don't hesitate to schedule an escape, you can book the Gloucester Hotel with confidence, knowing your safety and happiness is top concern. We were glad we did, a much needed break, and something we will definitely repeat.

Thank goodness hotels are open again! Gloucester House spent the pandemic period painting the property top to bottom and adding lots of beautiful finishing touches. The owners welcomed us on arrival, helped point us to the nearest car park and moved our luggage to our room, whilst we parked. Our lovely sea-view room was spotlessly clean with relevant COVID related guidance provided, i.e. masks to be worn when moving around the hotel and open the windows on departure. Breakfast was fabulous with plenty of options to choose from. The cooked full English used quality ingredients and really set us up for the day. There's no evening food available at Gloucester House, but the owners had already provided us with links to many good restaurants nearby, when we booked the trip. It was useful info to have, as we'd never have got in to these restaurants without a reservation. We loved our couple of days spent there and would happily return.

I stayed here as soon as I could book to go away after lockdown. Both Jonathan and Karen did everything they could to ensure we had a safe and enjoyable stay and nothing was ever too much. The b&b is absolutely stunning with luxurious interiors and amazing views. This really is the place to stay if you are coming to visit Weymouth. It is situated perfectly on the seafront whilst also being within walking distance to the town and harbour as well as they Nothe Fort and other local walks and parks. The breakfast was superbly cooked and the array of options was 5 Star! We felt spoilt staying here and will definitely be returning to Gloucester House! Our room was facing inland but very large and spacious. The room interiors were truly that of a boutique and all the little touches made this bed and breakfast really stand out from others we had stayed at. We enjoyed having the spacious room and then the use of the lounge to admire the sea views.

If anyone is worried about going away after the lockdown period they shouldn’t be if staying here. The standard of cleanliness was above and beyond 5star and there were sanitizer stations as well as other measures to ensure our safety! Jonathan and Karen really had thought about everything and made our stay really really enjoyable.

Would highly recommend staying here for a luxurious and welcoming stay - the hosts were excellent!!

Thank you for your enquiry about parking. We have a limited amount parking permits for zone H around the front and the back of our guest house and for certain council car parks. These are allocated on arrival, giving priority to guests with mobility problems or those who have booked longer stays. We normally do not have a problem meeting all requests for permits but during our busy period we occasionally do not have enough. If we cannot provide you with a permit we will direct you to the Station car park which is the nearest and cheapest place to park. Regards Chris and Geoff Gloucester House
