Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had to laugh I thought I was booking the Premier Inn 😃 Spoken to Simon on the telephone to book a family Room
When I came off the phone I realised I had booked the Premier Hotel.. Simon was so courteous we decided to keep the booking..
I was so glad we did.. we had a lovely welcome with our 2 grandkids 9 and 3yrs
Very spacious room. Large bathroom..
comfortable bed. Right on the seafront which was great for us and just a few minutes on foot into town..
We had a lovely time in this hotel.
The new owners took over this hotel this August and are gradually renovating…
Cooked breakfast included in the price great for the little ones as they could choose anything from cereals, toast, pain au chocolate or cooked breakfast of your choice or All…. Lovely breakfast freshly cooked and hot.. delicious…..
We throughly enjoyed our stay even tho it was only 1 night..
We will certainly stay at this hotel again..
Thank you for your warm welcome Simon.. Sorry if our granddaughter didn’t stop talking.. she just loves chatting…
We’ll be back in the spring… See you then..

We visited Weymouth and booked The Angove along with several friends..
Our hosts, Simon and Vanessa, couldn't have been more welcoming or accommodating.
Our room on the first floor was clean and well presented, and overlooked the sea, we slept with the window open and could hear the gentle lapping of the waves during the night.
Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, with a range of cereal and hot food cooked to order.
Not sure what others were expecting but we had an exceptional experience and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I brought my 2 little children along with me to visit family in Weymouth.
I thought I’d booked the premier inn hotel so was a little dubious when I realised I’d been mistaken.

However on arrival ( which we were quite early) Vanessa was so welcoming & offered us our room straight away.

The first thing I noticed was how welcoming she was then the smell hit us! It smelt beautiful throughout.

All very clean, the room was perfect for the 3 of us. Comfy beds, clean bathroom clothes storage & a tv bonus!

Vanessa said she and her husband had only been there 10 days - so I can’t imagine what it will be like when we come again. This time my husband will join us so we will have the family room.

Very short lovely walk to Weymouth town. Great views easy accessible for all ages come and go as you please.

We were allowed to leave our bags at the b&b whilst we enjoyed our final day and on collection met Vanessa’s husband who was just as welcoming.

I can’t pass judgement on previous reviews as it was the previous owners but only give my honest one here which was absolutely fantastic.

Thanks so much for making us feel welcome and safe as our fist holiday without hubby there.

We can’t wait to come back.

We wish you so much luck with your new venture I’m sure it’ll be fab! X

The friendly owners, Vanessa and Simon, have done a marvellous job making this a comfortable and welcoming hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed two nights and each morning we had a delicious cooked breakfast (vegan and vegetarian options available) to look forward to, with cereal, toast, fruit and tea and coffee.

It was easy to to check in and and to check out, and we were able to leave our luggage with them for a few hours after we checked out. It’s a great location, just a 4-minute walk from the train station and facing the beach. The coaches stop close by too. Nearby are also lots of good restaurants.

The interior is lovely, with many period features, flowers and nice furnishings. Our room was clean, beautifully furnished, the bed was large and comfortable and we had all we needed and what was promised, e.g. towels. It’s a quiet hotel, we only ever heard seagulls! We very much felt we got value for money.

Thank you, Vanessa and Simon, for a wonderful stay.

Really lovely hotel. We stayed in room 9 which had a beautiful view of the sea. The hotel owners were extremely accommodating, let us know about the stairs and the distance from the car park - being heavily pregnant this was good to know! Breakfast was included in our stay, and it was perfect - a choice of continental and cooked breakfast. Both mornings pleasantly greeted by the owners.

We felt welcome the moment we arrived, at Simon and Vanessa's guest house, perfect hosts.

The Angrove is a beautiful Victorian building, across from the beach, giving amazing sea veiws.

Our room was clean and well presented, with everything we needed for our stay, from tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, bedside USB sockets, complimentary luxury toiletries and soft towels.

Our bed was soft and comfortable, crisp and clean bedding and pillows.

The Breakfast consisted of a choice of cereals, fruit juices, toast and yogurts, a cooked breakfast was also offered. Food was served hot and cooked to order, and was very enjoyable.

The sea view from the room was perfect. Always something to see, from sail boats to swimmers, horses and people enjoying the Weymouth beach.

Perfect location with a 10min walk into the town, and Old Harbour. Lots of places to explore nearby, resturants, bars and a great location to explore places nearby like Chesil Beach and Durdle Door.

We highly recommend a stay at The Angrove, and we will definitely be returning.
Thank you Simon and Vanessa's for being perfect hosts

We booked a one night stay at The Angove Guesthouse after visiting their website and reading the great reviews. We received a very friendly and warm welcome from Simon and Vanessa. We booked a Superior Double with Seaview, it was lovely! Perfect for local restaurants and shops. Very clean throughout and such a comfortable bed! We had an amazing breakfast cooked to order, set us up for the day! Thank you both and look forward to staying again. Phil and Nettz (3/11/23)

The Photos and description were misleading. 'Courtyard view' was over a chasm between the buildings. There was a dirty balcony, labelled unusable hence presumably unsafe. The room was smaller than expected. The ensuite was cramped. Room not particularly clean, the shower was definitely dirty with some black mould. The double bed was not 'extra large' and there were alarming noises from the springs. The breakfast was perfectly adequate and quite well cooked but not 'superb' as described, that would imply some pretty special ingredients and presentation. On the positive side, the location was excellent and the proprietors were pleasant. Nice Georgian building. We enjoyed our stay in Weymouth and the hotel was ok as a base with a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel is only three star but would benefit from some improved cleaning, cleaning up and making the balcony area safe, accessible and attractive and a better bed. Also a more honest description

Response from Simon Thomas, Owner at The Angove

I’m getting a sense of déjà vu here Christoper! I’m pretty sure I have read this review before why you would feel the need to write such a negative review on multiple sites is beyond us! As I replied before this is mean spirited and only seems to be done to cause harm to a small business which is improving constantly. Fortunately, you are in the minority.

Myself & husband have just got back from a weeks stay at this lovely hotel. My husband stayed here last year so booked us both in for this year. Simon & Vanessa are so nice and friendly. We stayed in room 2 on the first floor, the room was spotless, very comfy beds. The room had not long since been renovated, a new shower was put in. My only downfall about the shower was it did not have a grab rail in it and also no where to put your toiletries whilst having a shower. With both of us being disabled we both struggled so personally i think it would benefit from the grab rail and something to put your stuff in. Apart from that it was brilliant. Vanessa does a breakfast to die for, absolutely beautiful ,a wide range of cereals, toast and jams. Beautiful views from the dining room right across from the beach. We have been to Weymouth many a times as our friends live there. We shall definitely be back sometime again this year.
Love
Mandie & Peter (Burnley)
