Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My son and I stayed at the Lilac Villa for four nights on our trip from the States to England. The room was very nice, and clean. It had a door to the garden with several tables we could relax at after a busy day. The hosts, Mary and Stephen, are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. And the breakfast every morning was well worth the extra cost for the room. It is freshly prepared, hot, and filling. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Wonderful weekend spent in very clean, comfortable ground floor room, one step to a nice quiet garden. Mary and Stephen are wonderful hosts with little extras like cake and tea on arrival and fresh milk in our room daily. Great breakfasts, free parking. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Mary and Stephen.

Very nice, clean room. Excellent breakfast, Mary and Stephen couldn't do enough for us. Would highly recommend. Very handy for all parts of Weymouth, there being a Bus Stop right outside which goes straight in Dorchester one way, or Weymouth the other.

Mary & Stephen we’re fabulous hosts and couldn’t do enough for us to make us feel welcome - leaving extra tea and coffee ( and even getting my favourite tea in) and home baked cake Breakfasts were hot and fresh with lots of choice not just the usual full English - which there was of course As we were there for the Ironman race - Mary made an amazing selection of packed food to take with us - so thoughtful The room was spotless and had everything you could need - comfy bed and lovely garden views - parking available right outside too- dead easy to walk into Weymouth ( or catch a bus) with local take always and supermarket a few minutes walk Really really recommend.

A traditional bed and breakfast rooms are a bit old-fashioned but comfortable and very clean . The rooms open up to a garden where you can sit in and chill out . Breakfast was included on our visit , it was a 10/10 , lots of choices as well . Parking was good as well . It was a short walk from the town centre. Would we return is what I always go by and that’s a yes we would .

We had a wonderful time staying with Mary and Stephen at the Lilac Villa Guest House in Weymouth. The guest house is lovely, clean and tidy and the hosts along with their friend Barbara couldn't do enough for you. The tea and cake on arrival was an indicator of the excellent care and attention they give their guests throughout the stay. The breakfasts were great with plenty of choice.

Mary and Stephen are wonderful hosts who make you feel comfortable in their home. The breakfasts are fabulous with a great choice. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is also parking which is a premium. We have been going back off and in for 19 years and hope to continue to do so for many years to come.

After a long journey we had a warm welcome from Mary. She brought tea and cake to our room and gave some useful information about restaurants and bus routes. We were in room 6; the bed was comfy, everything was spotless, the shower worked well and we looked out onto the bright patio. There was plenty of storage- 2 chests of drawers and a wardrobe so fine for a longer stay. The breakfasts were made to order and perfectly cooked and served. Parking there is a bonus. We took the bus into town the first day and changed onto the open top bus to Portland lighthouse. We walked along the main promenade to Bowleaze the next day and took the bus into Dorchester for an evening meal. All in all a great few days.

This is about the seventh or eighth time we have stayed here. Mary and Stephen are still the same perfect hosts and go beyond and above to make guests have a lovely time. The breakfasts are great and can be varied to suit different tastes, adding to a wonderful time. The rooms are very clean with comfortable beds and complimentary tea/coffee trays, milk and water. a bonus is the bus stop outside which takes you to the esplanade in about 8 mins. Thank you for another lovely time with you Jenny and Linda.
