Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked a room here whilst I was let down last minute for accommodation so was grateful they could help, read the reviews after I had checked in and had to say I felt some were very unjust. Firstly the welcome we had when we arrived was great, so warm and friendly. We were taken to our room (room 8) which was small but tidy and warm and had some nice features like the old fireplace. The best bit of the room was the amazing view of the harbour. You could lose yourself for ages sat on the bed watching the boats on the water. Bed was comfy which was a fab although if I’m going to be picky all that was missing was a small wardrobe but then it would of taken up too much space in the room. Still there was enough drawers so not entirely a necessity. The pub is old so you do hear a lot of noise from the pipe work when flush on toilet is pulled or taps are on which you should expected from an old listed building but again not the biggest deal as it adds to the ambience of the building. Staff were so friendly and great with the children which put me at ease. Breakfast next morning was amazing, great portion sizes and they serve from 6.30am so your not in a big rush for a tiny window to eat your breakfast like in most hotels which was a bonus. There is a £10 charge for the key which you get back when you check out but this shouldn’t be an issue for anyone. Should also mention that this B and B is so close to the town centre and bars it’s the most confident place to stay anywhere in Weymouth. I have visited Weymouth so many times but this was the first time I spotted this place and it truly is a hidden gem. Thanks for a lovely stay and I’m looking forward to coming back again soon.

A lovely and very quiet pub in the town and very close to the harbour which was a welcoming find considering how busy the bars on the harbour were. Taking into account of the location the drinks were reasonable and we paid £9.80 for a pint of Carling and a large glass of Pinot. The bar staff were friendly and even smiled and chatted when a local came in with his proud story of a low key encounter with the law.

We didn`t stay here we popped in for drinks one evening. The staff / owners were really welcoming and friendly. They were covid safe. We noticed that they did breakfasts from 6.30 am to accommodate the local fishermen and thought if it was good enough for the locals them we would try it the next day.
Well we should have had a large breakfast between the two of us...it was fabulous.
We went back another night for a few drinks as they were so welcoming. No doubt will be back again.

Avoid unless you are on a noisy hen or stag do and drunk enough to not pay any attention to the rooms
Or bathrooms.
Very expensive for what you get, outdated, shared bathrooms need modernising and cleaning.
Also don’t choose a family room if you are over 5ft 6 or can’t manage narrow steep stairs.
Very noisy!

Lovely little pub set by the Quay side in Weymouth, I booked a room for 2 nights at £90 with a shared bathroom, which wasn't a problem for ne as I'm an early riser.
For value for money this was an excellent price. I had a large breakfast which was excellent.
There are stairs leading upstairs to the rooms above the pub so not ideal for disabled folk.
Would I rebook and return here?
That's a big YES from me!

Cheap for centre of Weymouth. Very Basic out dated rooms, not overly pleasant shared bathroom, a greasy breakfast, but the cook was very pleasant. Parking was a tad challenging. On a plus side a fab location for the harbour.

Excellent food and service. Fish and meat dishes brilliantly prepared. Booking definitely recommended to avoid disappointment. Lamb risotto and plaice en croute can certainly be recommended as can the lemon tart for dessert. Will definitely return.

Loved the Sailors Return. The staff were so helpful and friendly, the room was great and it is such a fab location to get to the harbour, the town centre, the beach. The breakfast was huge and delicious and served until 10.45 so you good have a relaxing morning before eating! One if the best things was being able to take the kids crabbing right outside the pub. Will definitely go again

We stayed here in May and it was lovely. We had a room overlooking the harbour and the bridge. We both enjoyed watching the boats go out throughout the day. The breakfast was AMAZING! And filling too. There were a couple of negatives. One being we couldn’t open the window of our room due to it newly being redecorated and them waiting for a tool. The other negative was that the bathroom light was on a sensor which I was too short to set off. Other than that it was lovely and I definitely recommend.

Whilst on holiday in Weymouth in October 2023, me the wife and our 19 year old son who has autism one evening decided just to take a walk off the beaten track and came across the Sailors Return, the landlord was bery welcoming and friendly. The pub has a jukebox and a pool table. Its very clean and tidy.
