Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lovely guesthouse within 5 minutes walk of the village. Very clean spacious family room with lovely gardens. Freshly cooked yummy breakfast and the owners who are a very friendly couple are extremely hospitable. My children particularly enjoyed the pancakes with strawberries.

What a lovely stay we had at the Galway Guesthouse. Between Lyn's warm and welcoming personality, and Dave's cheeky sense of humour, they make the perfect hosts. Clean and comfortable rooms and a hearty breakfast (which they had sources vegetarian ingredients for us on request). Thank you for a lovely stay!

Nice b and b 10 minutes from town and beach. Car parked at property a must. Lovely cooked breakfast. Friendly chatty owners. Everything in room required for short break. Clean and tidy. Definitely book again. For the weather was hot and sunny a bonus

You had a choice of Standard or en-suite you choice the cheapest one, a price you paid for £ 90.00 for 5 persons is reasonable that's including breakfast and free pick- up of luggage from the station. i view this review as malicious and fortunately the majority of my customers are very happy staying in room 5.

I really think some people are extremely dense at times. Reading how unfair a couple of the reviews are I wonder what people expect. This is not the Ritz or Claridges. It is a lovely bed and breakfast accomodation that is clean, tidy and obviously a labour of love for Dave and Lynn who are perfect hosts.

From start to finish nothing was too much trouble for them. The booking form stated that we were not allowed access to our room until 4pm. We found ourselves a couple of hours ahead of schedule and phoned ahead to see if we could have our room a couple of hours early. This was no problem to Lynn who duly obliged,

Our room ( Room 3 ) was spotlessly clean and tidy and was well appointed with towels and other necessaries. The kids (Rosie 6, Molly 4 and Poppy 18 months) loved the castle bunk beds and had great fun with them throughout our stay. The showering and toilet facilities were fine and storage space had been cleverley designed into the main bedroom area.

The full english breakfast was delicious and again nothing was too much trouble for Dave and Lynn. Much to our embarrassment he even found a way to cope with my 18 month old launching a piece of toast at him as he was passing. The tea, coffee, milk and orange juice were limitless and I am sure extra helpings of breakfast would have been available if requested. Why anyone would want to do this though beats me as it was more than ample.

The Galway is situated within a row of shops in a high street, there is a car park to the rear as there are parking restrictions at the front. This did not cause us any problems as the restrictions are light and allow for an hour to load if necessary.

If you want a swish, streamlined, trendy accomodation where the owners/staff look down thier noses at you this is not the place for you. If you want a good old fashioned seaside B and B where the owners are lovely, book this place now.

Thank you Dave and Lynn our stay was fantastic and we will be back.

Rosie, Molly and Poppy send thier love x

We chose this b&b in June (before we saw the negative reviews on booking.com) for an overnight stay for the Olympics. Obviously, the price was going to be bumped up, and we paid £120 inc breakfast and all day parking 10 mins away from the beach.
My partner had a good conversation with the owner before we arrived and we were fairly hopeful for a nice evening. However, the reality brought us crashing down. On arrival, we were greeted fairly warmly, maybe the lady just had a strange sense of humour? But the first thing we really noticed were the dated carpets...followed by the out of date hygiene certificates on the wall...and then the grubby corridor walls.
Once we were in the room, for the first time EVER I almost turned around and walked back out! Unfortunately with the Olympics there would have been nothing else available! In order of what I noticed in the first 30 seconds; ok room size, big bed, horrendous duvet and cover, are those dust bunnies on the floor? Is that tv wired to the stand? Then I opened the curtain and choked on the dust :-) the worst thing was the sink that hadn't been cleaned?? Not even gone over with a cloth? We had to go and buy antibacterial wipes to clean it (another first for me, and hopefully last!) and i cheekily almost left them on the side as an incentive! Luckily, by the time it came to using the shared bath room facilities we found it funny as It felt like we were entering an episode of faulty towers...or grime fighters. Shower was a dirty broom cupboard (I don't know how you would do it with kids) and a basic (but cleaner) toilet. Overnight it was very noisy (as the building is old and not their fault) floorboards, beds creaking and other guests etc. In the morning, we wouldn't eat breakfast there so headed to wetherspoons instead. If they don't clean what the guests can see, do they clean what we can't?
My advice would be only go there if it's less than £30 a night and you have no other choice.

I stayed here for one night in August with my two daughters. I paid £90. The welcome was ok , the lady who owns it is nice. But the room! For £90 I expected better. It was clean and at the back of the house away from the busy main road. But the bed linen was cheap nylon!!! I've never. Had a nylon duvet cover in horrid red and black. The double bed was made up and one bunk bed. Luckily it was hot and one of my daughters had a blanket. The worst was the landing had six bedrooms, one lady's toilet and one mens. The shared shower was amongst all those rooms too. You opened the door straight. Into the shower. Someone's stuff was in there. There was a peg on the door to hang things, but no room to put stuff on the floor. You literally stepped into the shower.
For £90 for one adult and two children this place is a rip off. It was the second worst b and b I have stayed in. The breakfast was good though. Not recommended otherwise.

A very dated B&B, a good drive from the seafront. We stayed here for a Triathlon and had to be up at 4am, we couldn't keep our window open (despite it being June) as the noise from outside from so loud. We had people walking up and down the road shouting all night.

Our room was tiny!! a cheap metal framed double bed with what can only be described as a sheet for a duvet. I didn't feel the room was particularly clean either. We had a very small sink, a bedside table and a tiny tv. There was hardly anywhere to put your bags!

As we were up at 4am we missed breakfast but they provided us with cereal.

My main problem was with the lady who greeted upon arrival. She looked us up and down before realising we had made a booking. She then told me I had to park my car illegally and leave her the keys so she could move it.....obviously I didn't do this!

All in all - I’d avoid. There are plenty of better B&B's in the area and must better value for money.

The landlady and landlord were friendly and helpful. But.......... After climbing 2 steep flights of steps with 3 young children we went into our room which had fun castle type bunk beds. Nowhere to hang or put your clothes. The toilet and shower were across the gangway in 2 small cupboards: barely enough room to sit on the toilet with the door flush against my knees. No handwashing facilities and barely room to wipe. As for the walk in shower cupboard : I had to undress in the shower, roll up my clothes and place them outside the door. After showering I had to cross the gangway into my room partially covered with a threadbare handtowel provided into my room. Fortunately the landlady had told us we were the only ones staying. Strange as on the way out the sign in the window said "No Vacancies". The UHT milk in the room smelt and tasted off. Going down to breakfast we were greeted by an advance smell of rancid deepfat oil. The tea, cereal, and juice provided were plentiful and good, but we should have got out of the dining room before the full English made its appearance. It confirmed my worst suspicious: apart from the egg everything had been deepfried... even the bacon. It smelt rancid, it looked bad, and it tasted awful. There was plenty of it but we left it all uneaten except for a bit of toast. The second morning we got out as quickly as we could, avoiding toilet, UHT milk, shower room and breakfast. Unfortunately I had paid for our 2 nights in advance.
