The Cranleigh Boutique hotel is lauded for its excellent location, enhancing guests' experiences with the local culture and attractions within easy reach. Opinions are generally favorable regarding the value, with many appreciating the deals, though a few raise concerns about cost versus quality. The atmosphere is described as luxurious and stylish, complete with mood lighting, but some guests suggest there's room for improvement. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with the hotel maintaining high standards. However, noise levels have been a point of contention for visitors, impacting the tranquility of their stay. The service shines, with numerous guests commending the attentive staff, despite occasional reports of less impressive service. Room comfort and decor receive applause, but issues like overheating and noise are noted. Amenities, including spa baths and private terraces, are often highlighted as highlights of the Cranleigh Boutique experience.

We recently stayed at The Cranleigh for 1 night to celebrate our anniversary in the Passion Suite.
Check in was easy, lovely lady on reception gave us information on breakfast, discounts on local bars etc and showed us to our room. The Passion Suite is located off reception with a separate entrance to the main hotel which we liked, it made it feel private.
Beautiful room, very modern decor and oh my god the bed was heavenly. Fantastic spa bath which we enjoyed in the evening and as the sun was out we even managed to sneak a drink on the private terrace area.
There are some little perks to staying at this hotel which we liked, you get 15% discount at a couple of bars in bowness by downloading the app, there were 2 cocktails in the fridge waiting for us when we arrived, lovely toiletries also.

The one thing that prevents me from giving 5 stars was the breakfast and if we stayed again we would likely opt to eat out. We had a mixture of continental and full english, it was disappointing that the toast was cold and the croissant was over baked. Small things but equally important.

Would we stay again? Absolutely, we would love to try some of the other suites. Thank you for a wonderful stay Cranleigh :)

Stayed here for the fourth time and it never disappoints. We have stayed in a different room or suite each time and this time we were upgraded to the passion suite.

Room was clean, bed was really big and comfy, a nice relaxing jet spa bath, lighting in the room is really good, a nice little private outside seating area which got the sun was made the most of. Chocolates were left in the room as a free gift, also had 2 mini cocktails in the fridge made up from the fizzy tarte, which was a nice touch.

Also with this suite had breakfast brought to the room in the morning, breakfast was good and can choose from cereals, yogurt, fruits, pastries etc then your main breakfast, all the food was really nice especially the full Cumbrian.

With the upgrade we also got a free cocktail each voucher to use in the fizzy tarte included, and with the offer that was on when we booked our room we got free afternoon tea here as well, so a really good value deal for the money we paid.

The hotel itself is close to everything in bowness or if you want to walk up to Windermere, parking has a spaces out the front maybe 6 or 8, and the same at the back. Overflow car park is only a minute walk away. Can make the most of 15% off at the other venues they own such as lake view garden bar, baha and fizzy tarte.
We also went to the lakes hotel spa which can be used for discounted rate of £17.50 each which I would recommend going to.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable return visit to the Cranleigh for a Saturday night in late November.
We were booked into The Passion Suite - an interesting room where you can pimp your room to whatever lighting style takes you fancy: chill, fun or romantic.
The room was warm, tidy and well laid out and even had a TV at the foot of the en suite, jacuzzi bath.
The bed was large and very comfortable.
The room has a fridge, complete with complimentary cocktails, still water and sticks of dairy and oat milk.
A wide selection of teas and coffee are supplied too.
The bathroom has a large shower head above the bath together with a hand attachment too.
Plentiful premium body wash, shampoo and conditioner are supplied as are complimentary slippers and sumptuous dressing gowns.
The two over the sink is pumped as well - as you turn it to the left for hotter water a red light comes on!
There was a table set in the window alcove where you could work, relax or eat a meal - room service is provided though evening meals are not prepared on the premises.
The breakfast menu is generous and we can recommend the Full Cumbrian Breakfast and the scrambled eggs on toast.
The staff are very friendly and the hotel is only a few minutes walking into Bowness where there are many pubs, coffee shops and restaurants.
We are at nearby Jacksons and the food was excellent.

The Cranleigh is well worth a visit.
It was voted the UK’s most romantic hotel on Trip Advisor and 3rd most romantic in the world so they are doing something right.

Great location, close walk to Bowness centre/Lake Windermere. Very close to restaurants, bars, activities but in a quieter part of Bowness just up the hill. Very comfortable and well-appointed room, great breakfast options and outstanding service from staff. The bathroom was even a treat - lighting and a television to watch if in the bathtub! Everything you would need for your stay was in the room - tea/coffee, kettle, ironing board/iron, hair dryer, fan and lovely toiletries. Soft towels and bedding...really lush. Thanks Cranleigh, we'll be back.

We have just returned from our 5th stay at The Crangleigh Boutique, this time staying in the Fantasy Suite. The staff are amazing, so friendly & helpful, they even left a ‘welcome back’ & a ‘happy birthday’ card, chocolates & wine in our suite on arrival. Our suite was faultless! Beautifully decorated & spacious! We booked breakfast each morning which was a 5 minute walk back to the main hotel and it was delicious! Hats off to the chef - highly recommend the toasted smoked salmon bagel with poached eggs & spinach! The staff always welcomed us back in the morning & made effort to check everything was ok with the food & if we wanted a top up of drinks. On our last visit back in December we met Stephen Hargreaves (the owner) when walking in to the Lake View Garden bar & he is the most polite, grateful & welcoming owner of any place we have stayed in! Stephen took the time to speak to us about the Lake View garden bar renovations & when finding out we were Crangleigh guests he made his gratitude known & was a little shocked when we told him we were on our 4th stay at that time with this one also booked in. Every room we have stayed in (Sanctuary Suite, Luxury room 6, Indulgence Suite, Luxury room 14 & Fantasy Suite) have all been faultless & of high standards.

The Fizzy Tarte, Baha & Lake View Garden bar have all had amazing friendly staff, great food (including the afternoon tea at Fizzy Tarte) & gorgeous tasting cocktails! Definitely places I would recommend to visit when you’re in Bowness on Windermere even if you’re not staying at The Crangleigh.

To the whole team at The Crangleigh Boutique - you are amazing, keep up the awesome work! See you again in June for our 6th stay!

Thank you for your review Sharon, We look forward to welcome you back! The Cranleigh Boutique is one of the most iconic hotels in the Lake District. We have recently finished a stunning transformation & refurbishment of the venue overseen by the creative mind of interior designer Rita Millet offering our guests amazing new spaces to sleep & create their holiday memories. We always aim to give the best possible service to each and every one of our lovely guests. However we are realistic and understand we cannot always please everybody and sometimes we receive a negative review on this medium. We take our standards and service very seriously indeed and are always aiming to improve and try new ideas to keep our guests as happy as possible. There is nothing better than receiving positive feedback as it has a fantastic effect on our staff's morale and mental health. This is something we believe is very important to all of us and our future success. Just arrived home from our 3rd stay at the Cranleigh boutique hotel. Our first stay was in room 15 and our next 2 stays including this one in luxury room 9. The decor throughout the hotel feels very opulent and it is always spotlessly clean. The beds and pillows are super comfortable and the decor adds to the luxury feel of the room. Our room was at the top of the building with 2 flights of stairs so bear in mind if you struggle with stairs. The bathroom has underfloor heating and a spa bath with TV and separate shower. Fluffy towels and robes are also provided. There is a large wall mounted tv with Netflix included and the card welcoming us back left on the bed with some beautiful chocolates was a lovely touch. The breakfast is amazing and the produce used first class. Every member of the team goes out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful stay. We have and would highly recommend and will be back again next year
Thanks for a great stay again

We have just arrived home from a post new year stay. We were looking forward to this stay after reading the reviews and word of mouth from friends who have stayed previously. The staff here are fantastic. Nothing is too much. They were very responsive when I emailed asking a few questions. We stayed for a birthday and wedding anniversary, they left a lovely card and chocolates on the bed. Very nice and personal touch. We did experience a few issues, such as being supplied out of date milk, which was quickly sorted but we also had no hot water for the first night, so after going for a long walk we were unable to shower or take a bath before heading out. We had to simply grab a sandwich and eat in the room, not ideal. The staff were very apologetic, and I appreciate it is out of their control, but no discounts or anything were given for the inconvenience. We also had dirty linen, and other areas looked tired, for £140+ a night room, everything should be perfect. We also experienced issues with noise from other rooms. Ear plugs are supplied, but not everyone likes to use them. Our room neighbours were very inconsiderate blasting loud music at 2am in the morning, impacting sleep.

Breakfast was fabulous, lots of options to choose from, pancakes were amazing. the room could do with a spruce. On checkout, we also received some homemade brownies, which was a lovely touch.

Overall, I've marked down due to no hot water and other little issues experienced. Lovely central hotel, but on this occasion, it wasn't the relaxing break away we envisioned!

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your review! Regarding the milk, I do apologise and I will make sure the housekeeping is checking properly before adding it to the room! Regarding the hotel water situation again accept my apologies as the main boiler decided to stop working that night! We did manage to get maintenance back in and we had the second boiler turned on and as far as I am aware you had a hot shower the next day. Dirty linens are not acceptable, and I would have preferred you to let the receptionist know straight away when you called to report the hot water situation! We would have addressed the issue straight away!! Once again thank you very much for your feedback!! Kind regards,

We stayed in room 6 which was very nicely decorated, great lighting, the bed was so comfy as were the pillows which I usually struggle with. There was a great selection of coffees & tea to use & a nice bottle of water in the fridge. The Tv had netflix which was a great addition.
The bathroom was big with a great selection of smellies to use, the shower was amazing & the jacuzzi bath was so good after a long walk during the day.
The only downside to the room was it was VERY hot & despite the fact we had windows open all day, the fan going when we were in the room it was quite uncomfortable. As the room was based at the front of the hotel with the road in front & being a light sleeper I was woken up when cars went past despite the fact we had windows shut.
The cooked breakfasts were amazing especially the plant breakfast & the salmon bagel with the staff always happy to change an item like I did there was a good selection of fruit, yoghurts & cereals as well so we never went hungry.
the parking was limited at the front though there was a few spaces available at the back of hotel down some steps.
I would stay here again as the location was perfect with only a 2minute walk to town but in a different room thats on lower floor which will probably be cooler to stay in.
Overall a great stay in a great hotel in a great location with great staff so happy with my choice of hotel

I booked to stay here as a surprise for my husband's birthday. It had been on both of our bucket lists for many years, so I was in no doubt where I was booking when we chose Bowness as our location.

We were fortunate to be able to spend 2 nights here (6th and 7th Jan 2023), the first since having our children over 6 years ago, and so I splashed out a little bit more and stayed in The Seduction Suite.

Upon arrival, the staff were extremely attentive and helpful. We were shown to our suite where a bottle of prosecco and complimentary Fizzy Tarte cocktails awaited us - extra bonus points ;) The room simply took our breath away. The attention to detail has not been spared here.

Staff were able to recommend places to eat and drink, including Baha, The Fizzy Tarte and Lakeview Garden Bar....of course, we tried them all! But they also mentioned other places to explore, as my husband is a fan of real ales.

Being given the option to have breakfast brought to our room on both mornings was not refused. I mean what parents of young children get that luxury ever?! Breakfast was fresh and hot and brought right at the requested times on both occasions.

Our only sad moment was that we had to leave. My husband doesn't 'get sad' but even he said he didn't want to leave! We're already planning our next stay and trying to sort the childcare again ;)

Thank you all so much for a magical stay. And hopefully we'll see you again soon.

Steph and Paul Edwards

This is a super hotel that isn’t afraid of going above and beyond for their guests! We stayed in the Passion Suite which is a beautifully appointed room with special touches abound! The bed is huge and the decor is special for that little treat you want when staying away! The bathroom is small but very well appointed and the bath itself is a very good size with a great rainfall shower above.

The breakfast choice is excellent and the food is first rate!

The staff are simultaneously unobtrusive but extremely helpful…..they make you feel special. As returning guests there were some treats for us which were very much appreciated and unexpected!

We will be back!
