Detailed Reviews
My daughter and I stayed in the penthouse room for 2 nights. This beautiful house ticks all the boxes and more. The location is perfect, situated on a quiet road but only a few minutes stroll into the heart of Bowness. Plenty of free parking in their car park for the duration of our stay. The house has been refurbished to a very high standard, everything beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and great attention to detail which ensures a very comfortable stay. The home cooked breakfasts were amazing, so much choice. Nothing was too much trouble for our host Nick. Small details like fresh milk, water bottles and homemade cake made for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.

+1
The Fairfield house is a absolutely wonderful little boutique hotel, Nick and his staff were the perfect hosts and could not have done more to make my stay as pleasant as possible.
Having signed up for the great north swim in Windermere I thought I’d treat myself to a bit of a luxury and booked myself into the penthouse suite for the whole weekend for some much needed me time.
Even though the race was cancelled due to high winds, I had the most blissfully fun, yet relaxing weekend ever.
The room was beautiful, the bed was luxurious and very comfortable with lots of lovely cushions. The rainwater shower with panoramic views, was what really made this for me, especially after a day of paddle boarding and wild swimming in a local lake. There were loads of lovely high end toiletries and having long hair that gets completely matted up when I am open water swimming, being provided with good quality, delicious smelling hair conditioner is a major plus :)
The hotel has loads of parking with zero drama, another mega win as I looked at countless other hotels that either didn’t have parking or you had to pay for it on top of your room price. I was within walking distance to everything I needed, I’d say not even 5 minutes to the nearest pub. I spent a lovely afternoon, shopping, going to cafes, and meeting some friends in a couple of pubs and then Saturday night I just lay in bed munching on the delicious complimentary cookies, watching tv and got myself and early night so that I could get up and go for a scenic run before breakfast on post knott, which is about a 5 minute walk up the hill behind the hotel.
The breakfast was delicious, just what I needed after all my activities, lots of options but with me being vegetarian I went for the veggie option and it was perfect. They even had soy milk for my tea :)
I can’t fault a single thing about this hotel, I 100% recommend booking your stay (treat yourself to the penthouse suite) and I was very much honoured to be apart of the very first guests to stay on opening day. It was just what I needed and I can’t wait to come back again soon, hopefully with a friend :)
Thank you xx

We absolutely loved this place.
Great location in the centre of Bowness.
The room was modern and very clean. Breakfast was superb with warm and friendly service. There are some really lovely little touches to enhance your stay - Freshly bakes shortbread in the room along with complimentary home made cookies and some cake available to have with your in room coffee. They also had complimentary bottled water and fresh milk in a little fridge available for all.
The guest house has a beautiful garden with a nice patio area which was amazing in the sunny weather. This had sun loungers and garden furniture all spaced out to give you plenty of space. I would definitely come back here. Thanks again.
Nick, the host was ever present to look after your every need and made the stay a real pleasure from check in to check out.

We were told there are approximately 3000 guests houses in the Lake District - whether true or false, we were lucky to spend 4 nights at Fairfield Garden Guest House. Proprietor Nick has recently refurbished to a very high standard. Our charming attic room contained modern facilities whilst retaining its original character with a birds eye view of Lake Windermere. There were also generous personal touches with homemade mince pies, chocolate brownies, delicious mixed spice ginger cake accompanied by a bottle of port and sherry. Located within minutes from the the centre of Bowness we thought the accommodation including breakfast was excellent value.

This was our 2nd visit to Fairfield house previously we had stayed in the penthouse room and this time we decided to book the chestnut apartment
Communication with Nick was very easy with clear check in instruction. He kindly allowed us an early check in which meant we could arrive park and get down into bowness for a walk and lunch before it got too dark.
The apartment is a short stroll down the hill and your literally in the centre of Bowness, perfect, with so many pubs and restaurants, spoilt for choice.
The apartment had 2 double bedrooms each with its own bathroom, fully fitted kitchen with tea and coffee available
The apartment was perfectly clean and warm
We hope to return again next year.

Absolutely loved staying here, the rooms was spacious, with everything you could possibly need. The bed was so comfortable, the bathroom was lovely. We had home jade biscuits in the room, water and fresh milk in the communal fridge outside the room. A stunning view of the garden and the surrounding hillside from the room. The breakfast was beautiful and plenty to choose from. The furnishings and wallpaper were stunning. I would definitely go back again.

Just returned from a 3 night stay and have to say we was very impressed.
We stayed in room 4 and to my joy there was a bath ( recovering from ankle surgery) it was just what I needed after been out and about all day.
The bedrooms and bathrooms have been recently refurbished , and we have to say the attention to detail is superb, the room was lovely and warm, the bed super comfy and your feet sank into the carpet.
The homemade shortbread in the room was amazing and a daily homemade treat was on offer on the 1st floor with fresh milk and chilled bottles of water which all added to a perfect stay.
We arrived early afternoon and parked in the car park, Nick made us feel welcome from the off and an added bonus our room was ready.
Breakfast was perfect and all freshly cooked to your liking and plentiful.
Nick pointed out there were two ways to get to the property on foot, one via a short steepish hill or a slightly longer more gentle slope we did both and as Bowness is built on a hill (dodgy foot) I managed to get round no problem.
Will definitely be back and look forward to seeing what else Nick has planned for the rest of the Guesthouse.
Book it!! you won't be disappointed.

We arrived on an icy cold Sunday afternoon but received a walm welcome. After parking up and watched the world Cup final then decided to head down to Bowness for an evening meal. Once we got onto the road we decided given the icy conditions not to risk the walk so instead ordered in a domino's. Nick was great he supplied us with plates, napkins and glasses, we ate in front of the open fire in the lounge. Perfect.
We had booked the penthouse room and it was great with a seating area, comfortable beds and 2 TV. The shower was amazing!!
Breakfast the next morning was great with lots of cereal and yoghurt then 2 meat options and 2 vegetarian options available.
As it had rained all night the ice was gone so we walked down into town literally only a couple of short minutes away. Lovely to see all the shops Christmas ready and busy we had lunch and then walked back past the angel so not as steep by far.
This evening we did brave the walk down and had a couple of drinks and most tasty meal in one of the pubs. We walk back up the hill and didn't find it too bad just took our time.
We found our break away very relaxing just what we needed before the run up to Christmas. Hope we'll be back in the nicer weather

Fairfield guest house is well located for the centre of Bowness and the host, Nick was really accomodating with some nice touches added such as fresh cake each day. Our room was a good size room and was spotlessly clean. A good range of breakfast items were available to us and the cooked breakfast was lovely. Parking is available which is always a bonus. The only down side is the road leading up to the house is on a really steep hill which might pose an issue for those with mobility issues and the road was extremely dark at night. This did not spoil our break though and we would definitely stay again.

Just returned from a weekend away in this fabulous guest house, which is truly deserving of its many 5 star reviews. Whilst only minutes away from the centre of Bowness, the setting is tranquil and the garden beautiful.
The owner Nick obviously takes great pride in the upkeep of the house with well appointed spacious rooms and all the extras touched upon in previous comments.
Breakfast in the morning was excellent, great ingredients, perfectly cooked and accompanied by good coffee....We will return.
