Our children bought me a surprise weekend in May Cottage for my 50th birthday which was in March. We’ve been so looking forward to it since then and we weren’t disappointed. Joan and Simon are amazing hosts and so welcoming. The breakfast was perfect, our room was great, spotlessly clean with a good sized bathroom and a huge comfy bed. It is a few minute walk into the village and the lake where even under these difficult circumstances there’s plenty to do, lots of lovely shops, bars and restaurants. We’ll definitely return.

Returned from a 2 night stay at the May Cottage over the 8-9 August. What a lovely place, a traditional style B & B with good facilities, spotlessly clean , comfortable bed and in a great location for Bowness. Simon and Joan are very friendly hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was cooked fresh both days on a pre order and was delicious. Will definitely stay again.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at May Cottage, guests of the lovely Joan and Simon. The breakfast was delicious, the room was nicely decorated although a little on the small side but tbat is partly due to the bed being nice and large and very comfortable. The bathrooms are newly refurbished and everything is immaculately clean and beautifully finished. They clearly take great pride in giving the best they can to their guests and they're both also lovely, warm people who deserve to do very well in this business. We would not hesitate to recommend this guest house and would happily stay here for another three nights next time we're in the Lake District.
