After a year long refurbishment ending in 2018, the latest addition to the Leeu Collection portfolio is Linthwaite House, a 36-room country house retreat overlooking Lake Windermere in England’s scenic Lake District. Breathtaking views, private gardens and woodland grounds, and an award-winning restaurant - Henrock by Simon Rogan, make for an idyllic stay.

Linthwaite House is an absolute gem in the heart of The Lakes.
The breathtaking setting offers sweeping views of Windermere, and the pristine grounds, surrounding fells, and on-site tarn looked so magical when I arrived in the snow.
I stayed in Fell Suite 2, which offered every conceivable luxury - including enough space for me to want to stay there all day, in spite of the myriad attractions on offer in the area!
The team was incredibly warm, helpful and professional, really making me feel at home for the entire duration of my stay.
Dining at both Henrock and The Bar & Conservatory was an absolute treat, and I enjoyed the most incredible in-suite massage by Penny Irvine. She really does have healing hands, and her kindness and warmth made me feel immediately at ease.
All in all, a truly unforgettable experience that I can highly recommend to anyone visiting The Lake District.

Another Excellent stay at Linthwaite House. We visited it as family coming from 5 different locations, booked 4 rooms over a three night stay. From start to finish our stay was excellent with the staff collectively trying to go above and beyond.
The rooms were at par with luxury 5* hotels— well furnished, well equipped and with a very warm attached bathroom.
The rooms were serviced daily, the breakfast was out of the world at same level as the best I have ever had— Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro which boasts 50-100 different fruit varieties.
The service, the location and views add to the overall attractiveness of this hotel. Under new management but the same excellent standards are being mentioned.
Jasmine, Lycian, Tobias and Mandy are few of the many providing helpful service as a collective. The Henrock was good and fair value for the price due to a celebrity chef. The daily service at breakfast was exemplary.

Arriving late Friday evening my first thought was how inviting it was. Before I even got to reception a member of staff had spotted us arriving and came out to grab our bags, I walked in the reception area, there was log fire blazing, the area felt cozy the receptionist was so polite and showed us the room. Brilliant start. The room (18) was hot though and I was told to open a window and had fans if I needed them. That was a little disappointing. I know it is an old building and that it has been through a huge refit but for the money it costs per night air conditioning would be expected. The room had twin beds pulled together, a fridge, Nespresso, TV, plenty of plug points but was quite small and had no real storage to unpack. Shelves in a wardrobe are not quite befitting. The bathroom was spacious with one large sink and small bath. Soft towels, dressing gowns ad slippers. Very hot again. Breakfast was in the Henrock restaurant. Options included pastries, fruit, pancakes, French toast and full English to name a few. All table service and times pre-booked during booking. It never felt busy so I would imagine if you missed your allotted slot it would still be ok. The House sits within acres of well maintained grounds that allow views of the Lake and the surrounding mountains. Quite beautiful. We stayed for 3 nights in total and would definitely go back when we next head to the Lakes. The niggles I have are real issues that would enhance the overall experience further but as hotels go this is a good one. Is it massively overpriced? NO. I stayed in a B&B in Grasmere one time and it was £195 a night. This is 4/5 star luxury with an amazing setting, brilliantly helpful staff and makes me want to come back. Worth every penny. Oh one final thing, if you fancy a walk they have an excellent route set which is actually 8.5 miles but you are in the lakes so it would be rude not to

We had visited LQF in Franchoek 18 months ago and loved the hotel, so we decided to visit Linthwaite House. Having been a regular visitor to the lakes and having spent time at different hotels, Linthwaite House has to be our favourite but is let down by a few things. The hotel is a haven of tranquility with manicured grounds. We loved the charm of the hotel, with open fires as you enter the hotel and in the bar. The Bar/restaurant is a place you can spend the whole day looking down at the lake. The hotel has to have one of the best view of the lake without the hustle and bustle of Bowness. On a sunny day, you could easily spend the day just sitting outside looking at the lake with a drink. The hotel in 5 min drive from Bowness and probably 15 min walk. We didn't try the restaurant in the evening but found breakfast to be excellent and the bar restaurant to be equally good. The hotel has 3 electric car chargers which was handy given that it meant we could charge the car but unfortunately, i had to ask them to turn the charger on every time. What we didn't like. We found the bedrooms to be the smallest bedrooms we have ever stayed at with the beds being very firm. The hotel was very low on occupancy when we were there. i had asked whether i could get a late check out and was told that, i would have to pay an additional £50 for two hours. I have never encountered that in any hotel. When booking the hotel, the hotel offered me the rooms at more expensive price than online. when i went back to the hotel, they said, if you can get us a screen shot, we will match that. I had said, why don't i just book the online. I was told we would leave something extra in your rooms which would be a special gift. We arrived and there was nothing in the rooms, not even fruit or chocolates but a welcome card.
All in all an excellent hotel but let down by small touches. staff on the whole are excellent but you have to find the staff as they are not there a lot of the time. We would definitely return but get a bigger room as entry rooms are pathetic.
Such a shame as the hotel is a great hotel

On arrival at the hotel we received a most pleasant welcome and check in made us feel like we were special guests. As it was our first visit the tour was a very nice touch along with our case being taken to our room whilst we checked in. The room itself was perfect, infact it was impeccable. Personal service at breakfast was great, much better than the normal buffet style you normally get as the food was fresh and not sat to go dry or be handled by others before you. Portions were just right for us but had we wanted more we only had to ask. The grounds are beautiful and the little lake with the lodge was idyllic, as an angler I would have been in heaven if fishing was allowed! There are lots of beautiful statues and statuette's in the hotel and grounds along with beautiful artworks. The overall experience was, for us, out of this world and we will most definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

Firstly, I know things are different now and the hotel was having to deal with staff being 'pinged' by the Covid app, but they were all excellent and although some things were not perfect, they were certainly very good. The things we were not happy with (and I was debating whether to give 3 stars), were things that detracted from the luxury experience they are obviously trying to offer. Firstly our room, it was a Fell Suite with hot tub, described as having "astounding views", I don't consider a view of a bank of wild flowers 'astounding', although it was pretty enough, it was very much a view out the back. The suite was very spacious and well laid out with Molton Brown toiletries, although at the price we were paying I would have expected some hand/body lotion. We did not feel it gave value for money. We had a very good breakfast each day in the restaurant, although we found the menu very limited on the 2 occasions we had other meals there. The evening menu was exactly the same as the Sunday lunch menu minus the roast pork, we were there for 4 nights and were pleased we were not booked in for dinner each night, as it turned out it was closed for 2 of the nights anyway due to Covid. The gardens & terrace were delightful, the terrace was a very pleasant place for a pre dinner drink, although again it felt that it was penny pinching to not offer any nuts, crisps, olives etc with the drink. We might well stay again, but would not pay the price for a Fell suite. Thank you to the staff though who made the experience a very pleasant one.

My husband treated me to an afternoon tea at Linthwaite house, an experience I had been wanting to try for a long time, to celebrate our 10th Wedding anniversary. The house looks wonderful and is set in beautiful surroundings. The staff were all friendly and gave very good service. However, I am sad to say, the afternoon tea was a disappointment. The sandwiches could have been made with fresher bread. The sweet and pastry treats, although looked impressive, didn't taste as good as I expected. Advertised at £39 per person online, then discovered it was £45, when we got there..which I felt was far too much. So sadly, my experience wasn't all that I hoped it to be.

Unfortunately we never actually got the chance to stay here. The reason I am writing this is because it’s the second time that the hotel has let us down with a booking. We booked to stay in January of this year and because we are heading to wales we booked 3 months in advance as we like a secure care park. Unfortunately the hotel cancelled saying it was due to refurbishment however because they didn’t do it at the time of booking it left us with very little choice and infact we tried several hotels before finding one. Unfortunately yesterday the hotel has just done the same to us again, we have had it booked for months and they have told us they will be closed, but why take bookings and mess people around? Now I am not saying this is not a beautiful hotel as We stayed here years ago and it was, but unfortunately being let down once I can understand but to do it twice is very annoying and for this reason I wouldn’t book again as I would be scared they let me down once again.

Linthwaite House is an exceptionally well-appointed hotel in beautiful grounds, overlooking Lake Windermere. The rooms are luxurious and the staff are warm, friendly and attentive. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble during our stay, and because of this, we thoroughly enjoyed our two night residence over New Year. Breakfast was extremely well presented and utterly delicious and we enjoyed a wonderful view of the garden on both mornings. The bartenders are able to conjure some exciting, unique cocktails, which can be enjoyed in an extremely comfortable conservatory, along with tasty snacks. All in all, we had a wonderful time and we will definitely revisit in the future.

I visited with my 4 year old daughter and 6 month old baby earlier this week. I was incredibly anxious about staying away from home without hubby but it went so smoothly as the hotel has everything you could possibly need.
We stayed in lake view suite with a hot tub, which was the ultimate treat. This room has a seemingly private little garden area too, which was perfect with the children. The view from the hot tub (and the room) is phenomenal and no picture can do it justice. Trust me I tried !!
The grounds are stunning. There is so much there for you to roam and explore. There are ducks in the lake and the hotel reception had little bags of duck food for you to feed the ducks. There are statues all around the gardens which are so sweet. There is a swing seat that overlooks possibly the most incredible view I've ever seen.
All of the staff are welcoming, polite, kind, helpful. From the staff on reception to the porters to the staff working breakfast/dinner.
We stayed on Monday and Tuesday so did not get to check out Henrock food, but the restaurant and conservatory bar food was really good (albeit a slightly limited menu). I asked for a larger version of the children's menu one day and they made it happen. Breakfast was so nice and so much choice.
The artwork all around the hotel is stunning and really suits the hotel. The hotel is so welcoming as soon as you walk in and smells so nice. Every little touch has been well thought out. My daughter had a little cry after we checked out that she wanted to "live in the hotel" as she had loved her stay.
The hotel is a 3 minute taxi ride away from the main town and the hotel helpfully arranged this for me. I was expecting to drive to the town (we visited to watch the Peter rabbit show - highly recommend !) - but for £5 each way and being guaranteed to not have to drive around looking for a car park with availability removed any stresses from the day.
I'm already working out a plan to visit again before the end of summer. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I'm so glad we decided to visit the lakes as we'd initially been looking to go abroad, as the search for lakes hotels brought me to this place, and I already know this will be my go to place for a UK stay.
